Because the trailer contains sufficient material the the many shortcomings of this compared to the original are self evident. If this is the best they can cut into a 2:30 spot, and I can already feel my stomach churning at the injustice this pieces does, I'm uncertain that I could bear the full feature length of this.
Also, if you read my comment carefully, you'll notice that I've left room for the possibility that it won't utterly fail.. if and when I decide it will actually be worth my time.
KOREAN VERSION is definitely the best. The concept is there but the execution of the characters are off. Elisha was not able to pull off the craziness of Ji Hyun. The original is always the best!!!!

the "sassy-ness" of my sassy girl works for asian cultures, because the idea of an authoritative woman is still prevalent here (and it's acceptable). that doesn't translate well in the american culture.

That is true what you said about remakes not being meant to be done frame by frame, and it is soo true that there are some good and really bad remakes out there. But is that 'new flair' just showing Elisha Cuthebert prancing around in cute clothes and making her being hot the center of the film? This piece of shit looks like it takes away the importance of the film, not focusing on its original concept. I was surprised by Elishas acting however; but the movie looks like a diluted piece of crap.

i'm a huge fan of the original korean version. but i'm still looking forward to watching the american remake. don't go to the theatres expecting the "exact" same things. that just makes it predictable and boring. i suggest going into the theatre expecting an american take on the story. just enjoy it.

This actually looks a lot more faithful to the original movie than I thought it would be.
Which might be a problem, just cuz there's certain things that work better in a Korean context than in American culture, and vice versa.

All I can say is that, Hollywood can no long make any movies. That is why they bother to just go and remake or make up stupid films.
Remake such as; My Sassy Girl (WTF...), One Missed Call, Shutter, The Eye, The Grudge, Bangkok Dangerous, and Infernal Affair.
If they can't remake, they just make a weird movie just for money.

i didn't really like the original one but i'm thinking the remake would be a disaster! Koreans are naturally funny and can make anything into a comedy. Though i think Adam Brody and Rachel Bilson could pull this off :)

it doesn't look terrible, and i think it might actually be really good. when thinks are remade they aren't meant to be done frame for frame, other wise they would have just released the original. the point is to give it some new flair. other countries remake other movies too, it's not all that serious.

That is true what you said about remakes not being meant to be done frame by frame, and it is soo true that there are some good and really bad remakes out there. But is that 'new flair' just showing Elisha Cuthebert prancing around in cute clothes and making her being hot the center of the film? This piece of shit looks like it takes away the importance of the film, not focusing on its original concept. I was surprised by Elishas acting however; but the movie looks like a diluted piece of crap.

jenny & juno is a korean movie. the writer of Juno did say that she didnt take her ideas from that movie, its just that the whole teen pregnancy thing is similar. the difference is the boy's name is juno and the pregnant teen is jenny.

I just noticed an inconsistency on the poster.
the tagline says that "the girl your mother warned you about."
isn't it that male protaginist's mother in the original is really pursuing him to date the girl because the girl's boyfriend just died? and knowing that the mother is actually forcing him at the end is quite a twist to me [in the original.of course.].
if americans tend to overloook such mistakes, no wonder they fail bringing the original a new style.

oh god. this is nothing like the korean movie at all. my sassy girl is my favorite movie of all time, in any language. i really really hope the movie is actually better than what the trailer seems to show. the girl is not sassy at all, and the guy is not goofy. the craziness and the goofiness of the 2 leads made the movie what it was. and why did they have to change the slapping scene on the subway? that was the funniest scene in the orig, imho. too bad america totally missed out on the original

i think im going to watch this. i cant say whether this is good or not since i havent seen this yet.. at least we have to give it a chance before making a negative critic right? remakes are good but it doesnt necessarily mean that it should surpass the original but if it did, then the better.
