I don't know my doctor told me this sick story about how people who don't poop for a long time can make their colon stretch out to the point where it doesn't function anymore. @franciscojavierm If your diet is very healthy with lots of roughage then no, you do not need them. However, since a lot of people eat very unhealthy diets devoid of green leafy vegetables and other sources of fiber a lot of people need fiber supplements so they don't become constipated. Just clearing up a few more things for you :)
