hello mate, yeah i agree. but the heat installation in the room is poor. and at the time it was winter so i needed that extra heater to help kick up the temp, now im just running one heater and its doing fine :)
your filtration looks good but if there connected from one tank to another if your top tank gets a diease or ich it will be transfered to the other tank.
its very simple, its called a "over flow box system". once the waterlevel in the tank reach over the line the water will flow into the box and then be taken down the system into the next tank until it reach the bottom tank.
at the bottom tank there is a return pump, to pump back the water into the very 1st tank and then the process repeat it self.
regarding filtration, there is a trickel filter aka "wet and dry" filter, also there are bio balls in each of the over flow box section, the over all turn over of the system is 30 times per hour, thats more than enough in term of filtration.
yes, that can happen. because all the water is connected together therefore if one tank get disease it can past onto the next tank, however you can stop this happing by installing a UV filter. the UV filter can kill all the disease.

yeah, the three tanks` water are connected together. i've also installed a massive UV sterilizer so if there are any disease it will be killed.
