Thanks for posting this video gem.!Readers here may aIso be interested in the 1940 Fats Waller song "Eep ipe wanna piece of pie" . The words to that some & comments about eefing can be found online by googling Eephing"Mudcat". Mudcat is a discussion forum. Btw, eef rhymes with beef. My interest in this started because I was seeking sources for the playground rhyme "Oh my I wanna piece of pie". This is definitely one of the sources of that rhyme & other lines like the eep op ork jetson cartoon.
@hfxmusicman ...w0w... i still have that album but alas no record player to play it on now :( but yes i listened to it so much that the songs are permantly etched in my head ;)
This was a treasure to enjoy! I've loved the first one for a long time, and the second one was a daring title, but a great love song too! I wish you hadn't fast-forwarded through the third song though. Now if you could find "Uncle Eeef" also, that would be another great treat!
Your grandfather seems to have been a real gentleman with great delivery - and what a voice! Joe Perkins is an unexpected treat! I only knew "Annie," and always thought he was a white guy - pleasant surprise. "Slave" is a good track - and what a voice Mr. P. has, too.
Used to stay up late to watch Night Train when I lived in Murfreesboro in '66. N. Blackwell had some wild acts. Sorry that the video didn't show him smoking with his cigerette holder.
That does have to be the most phallic microphone I've ever seen...

Jimmy Riddle did the "Eefin" on this song. Jimmy was also known for the "Eefin and Hambone" duo with Jackie Phelps on "Hee Haw".

After Little Effin' Annie I'm thinking, ahh that's funny, but this guy is a joke.
But "Runaway Slave" is wonderful, thanks so much for sharing this wonderful talent.
Where did you find the footage from Night Train?
