RIP Ned, the best outlaw ever! hes probably the most well-know man in the world. an Aussie Robin Hood...
eat your heart out Old Bailey, hes rembered as a brave hero, a kind one to! never killed if he could help it, the system was against him, he was a brave man he was.
such is life, yes, thanx for the excellent pictorial representation of our favorite criminal. Have not seen the new movie, but love the music from the original, and this is one of the best songs. Well, except for some of the others, it is after all a Shel Silverstein soundtrack, and he used to work for Mad Magazine, so. But anyway, thanks for the song, and the Kelly's keep a'coming, oops that is another song.
As a matter of fact, I have been there, and had a few conversations about Ned Kelly. Even after an evening of VBs, people are comfortable that he was colorful, but offered nothing positive.
Ned Kelly like many men had duality he saved a boy from drowning as a boy. He wore the green sash the gave him underneath his armor. He also murdered and stole, but we will never forget him all in all a great man.
@hidden953 ?????....I don't know how you can say he was a great man, you can only believe or disbelieve what you have been told and most of it is probably myth, Me, i never think about him but i do like this song and know a lot about Waylon who is of my generation.
@teddie488 I don't get into internet arguments, but I will answer your question in two parts 1 I always root for the bad guys and underdogs. # 2 In my mind a great man in someone who will be remembered for his deeds long after his death ( whether those deeds be right or wrong). also waylon jennings has an amazing voice. P.S thank you for keeping your comment civil so many online just throw out insults and think it's clever.
@hidden953 Your welcome, i only argue with the clever people you mention .. i am usually cleverer than they are and it shows more often than not . You sir are no doubt a gentleman ..Take Care and thank you
Ned Kelly was the Australian Jesse James. Both were freedom fighters and certainly more worthy of songs and ballads than 99.9% of the stuff "artists" sing about nowadays.
@confoundtheidols Ordinary people died or were threatened by outlaws including Ned and Jesse so please they were n't saints but may be there was some good in 'em somewhere, corruption was rife whichever side of the fence you came from ...tc my friend
@teddie488 Remember, Ned Kelly and Jesse James were both killed by the leviathan's they opposed. And the winners write the history books. You ought to read about the public outcry that arose when Jesse was assassinated by Bob Ford. A petition was circulated after Ned Kelly's capture signed by over 20,000 people demanding his release. Common thieves and killers do not garner such support and compassion from people...
And calling someone a freedom fighter is a far cry from saint. :-)
Yea inspite of an earlier comment about i made to this vid , there were these people who stood up to the tyranny of corrupt officialdom and stood fast for what they believed in, i guess Ned was one of those people thanks for te comment
A great artist and a wonderful album, much better than the movie. Mick wasn't impressive as Ned. As for Ned he was and still is a hero to much off Australia as he stood up against oppression of the poor by a tyrannical Government and the discrimination against the Irish settlers. The official accounts of Ned's history that are dished up to us today come from a biased police force who were largely incompetent. Ned Kelly and Ben Hall are great Australians.
I like the outlaw singers that we have, but I think there might be a little taste. Ned Kelly was ignorant and pathological right from his early years. He never would have made it as far as he did if his wife -- a 13 year old prostitute -- hadn't told him how to go about robbing banks. He might be worthy of a song, but there's nothing to glorify.
@thecathancegroup I really don't know much about Ol' Ned your probably right he didn't do a lot to sing about but in this modern age, we seem to sing a lot about Killers and thieves Ned Kelly Billy The Kid and not for getting Jesse James...thank for the comment
@thecathancegroup what the fuck have you been smoking ? LOL if we had a pound of it you'd make a fortune,, you want to try coming up here to the place where Ned grew up and his family live and repeat that load of drivel sometime numb-nuts LOL
thanks for that , very much part of your folklore .. i was going to say just like Robin Hood is here, but nobody really knows if Robin Hood was fact of fiction. thank you for commenting
does anyone have 'Blame it on the Kellys'?...or anyother songs from the Ned Kelly 1970 soundtrack....this one song is v. good but I think its the only one on here from the soundtrack
Avital...get yourself a free application ''A Tube Catcher'' Google it. With this you can convert to almost any format and it is so easy. You will be able to do whatever you like once it is on your computer this application will do that for you . email me if you can't figure it out

I bought the sound track because of the artists before I ever saw the movie.
I think it stands up nicely over the test of time.
I still play "Lonigans widow" sometimes in the early morning when I wake.
But then I'm bipolar and I don't know if it makes me feel good or bad.
