all I meant was (and I hope I don't sound like an old man w/"a back in my day..." rant) is that good music is good music. Labeling music based on when it was made strikes me as slightly close-minded. Compared to the "underground" music of today (which I still follow very closely), this sounds fun and inventive.

how am i close minded. if anything yr close minded for believeing that sounding good and sounding dated are mutually exclusive. sounding 90s was not a criticism. its a fact for most of their songs. maybe yr not familiar with it, but there is a distinct 90s indie sound that pavement and a lot of other bands fall into. and what does sounding fun and inventive have to do with sounding 90s. again, not mutually exclusive...

This misnomer persisted when designer Mark Ohe printed it onto the back of the re-issue Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain: LA's Desert Origins, despite the interior artwork showing the intended name in print several times, including written in Stephen Malkmus's own handwriting."

Their songs are still so current, " not oldies" like many reunion tours, just show how good they were/are!!!
