hello dr lam i just started using bimataprost and normally before using this product i have a strain when looking up to long or looking at an object for too long and it effects my right eye only i sometimes have to rub my eye to relax the strain but sience using this product i barely notice the strain does that mean i could have glaucoma
Hi Dr. Lam, my mom has a couple bottles of Lumigan and I did some research on it compared to Latisse. Could I get glaucoma if I use it just on my lash line? Thanks in advance!
it is not that you would get glaucoma (increased pressure) but since it is used to treat glaucoma, you might have lowered eye pressure. i would not advise using Lumigan for cosmetic purposes but you really should ask your eye doctor that question.
just to clarify: it almost never happens in blue eyes. in fact, as far as i know it has not even been reported in blue eyes. it occurs only as speckles in hazel eyes in 1.5% ONLY in the lumigan dose which is 20x stronger and placed directly on the eyeball. compared with 20x weaker placed on the lashline. just want to decrease the fear with honest stats.
thank you for clearing that up! so far you're the only source i've found online that doesn't beat around the bush when it comes to discussing latisse. thank you very much!
that's because i don't own stock in the company or am i a paid consultant. therefore, i just want to get honest information out there so there is no hysteria or lies.
When I moved up north from California at age 20, my eyes actually got lighter. I'm back in California, and I expect the sun to tan them again. So, I guess I'm not too concerned about Lumigan.
thanks! i don't take any money from companies. that makes it a lot easier for me to remain neutral and honest. i was just talking to a colleague of mine last week in vegas at a conference who wanted to be a trainer for a company. i said once you take money, you will lose all credibility in my eyes for the rest of your life. that is your choice. i really believe that especially if you are a lecturer and writer as i am. i leave the room when i see disclosures before a lecture.
Hi Dr. Lam, I removed the questions above as I think I figured out the answers. The two videos you have regarding Latisse--the first, the study indicated no permanent iris change/the second DID find permanent iris change? Do I have this correct and why the contrary findings, in your opinion? Thanks!
ok, let me clarify. no latisse study found iris issues. only lumigan (20 times more powerful than latisse) but same product (bitamaprost) and same manufacturer (allergan) found at this high concentration that there was a 1.5% chance of iris changes mostly in hazel eyes with speckles. remember lumigan is the prescription version of latisse designed at 20x strength for glaucoma. is that clear? thanks for the question.

the hyper pigmentation is what i'm worried about. i have really great blue eyes and i would be devastated if i lost that....

Hi Dr. Lam, i would like to know which is more effective in growing lashes, latisse or lumigan? Thanks..

no idea. but i would not use lumigan just for eyelashes. i don't think that is worth the risk.

Okay, a doctor who is straight up, honest, and very specific about the potential side effects of a product even after a little corporate get together?
