You lose almost no horsepower from having a "safe" tune. 20 or so at the most for pulling a few degrees of timing and adding more fuel. (There is a 10hp difference between 11.0/1af and 12.5/1af). Dont believe me? Ask Kenne Bell.
Also, the 4.6 3v can handle around 500 rwhp. Some people push them even higher. I know someone who ran 540rwhp for three years, and it's still kickin. Don't post bullshit based on opinion.
I have an 06 mustang with an o/r x pipe and borla stingers. I am about to install a kenne bell supercharger which is pretty much the same as the whipple. How loud is the car? Is it obnoxiously loud?
Isn't 11 psi pushing the boundaries of a gt mustang? I know for a fact that 450 rwhp is the max SAFE hp a gt mustang can pump. 11 psi has got to be around 480 rwhp right? I saw you said you had a "safe" tune. IDK what that means though. I have a sct x3 tuner but I don't know what a safe tune actually is.
@hyperlite4089 The amount of horsepower he's pushing has nothing to do with what the car can handle. The thing you have to worry about is how much psi hes got, 10-12 psi is about as high as you can go and thats pushing it to the limits, but it'll be fine as long as you dont drive the fuck out of it
@hyperlite4089 "safe" means it is leaning more toward streetability and duribility than all out horsepower...for example they take some timing out maybe some fuel etc...depends but the point is on a safe tune there's usually a lot of horsepower sacrificed for the sake of durability...
thanks I love the combo as well. The hot rod cams are not a s/c cam that is for sure. You might lose alittle power with this combo but it still makes alot of power. The sound is really why you do these cams. The car is a manual.
you are rite about doin the cams for the sound i would lose a lil power to have the sound myself. is the blower a frpp kit? why did you chose the whipple over a kenne bell, magnuson or a centrifical style?
yeah the frpp kit and whipple are the same kit. I wanted to instant power of the twin screw and I wanted the whine as well. The whipple to me was the best choice for my needs and wants.
I have an 05 Mustang GT, I want to put FRPP cams in. I have a Pro Charger... so you are really happy with these cams!? Do you have any power loss problems at high RPM?
Nice to know. The Idle would be the main reason for me to install them too , but with boost in my future I wasn't sure if I would go with a IF grind with less sound. Now the choice is just FRPP Hot rods or CC Thumprs. Sweet ride btw!
I was wondering if those cams would have any effect on boost, ie the overlap. Thats good to know that you wont lose any. Would you say that the 20rwhp is noticeable in the top end?

hyperlite4089 2 years ago
The s/c doesn't make it much louder to be honest. But you might think different.
mustanglouie01 2 years ago
What psi setting is your s/c on? I think I'm going to have mine set at around 9 psi which should give me around 450 rwhp, give or take.
hyperlite4089 2 years ago
11psi

im sorry if my first question seemed a lil stupid but i thought ford racing made 2 versions of the hot rod cam

do u know wat the safest psi u could put on the 4.6
mustangpower31 2 years ago
the safest? Don't go over 8psi. But it is not all about the psi, you need to get a good tune.
mustanglouie01 2 years ago
awsome sound man, how much power are you putting to the ground?

Awesome car, Awesome sound. But dude, 41/2mins of idleing? Put down the camera and throw some revs!
davidk6 2 years ago
haha I hear yeah. I have a few other videos on here with a few revs in them.
mustanglouie01 2 years ago
awesome car, sounds good, you've got the idle spot on!
what did this all do to your warranty?
did u have FRPP install it?
i think the cam voids it but what about the blower?
thanks
cliffymorris 2 years ago
I installed both cams and s/c on my own. I am pretty sure that both voids my warranty. Thanks for the nice comments.

I do not have any power loss at higher rpms. I would recomend a good tuner though.

How much did the N/A Grind hot rods effect your boost numbers?
Liquidious 3 years ago
boost is the same. gained about 20rwhp and lost about 15 torque. These are pretty much for a lopey idle and made my exhaust alittle louder a WOT
