I went to his Ziggy Stardust concert in Japan (fourth row from the front!) This was the last song of the concert before encore. What a concert! He really changed my life. I have been to many concerts, but to this day, nothing beats his concert. I wouldn't be what I am now if I hadn't gone to his concert in 1973.
Ty for posting. This is like having a time machine and going back to 1973. I saw this tour in Memphis Tennessee when I was 14. It was life altering. Classic.
met La Bowie twice, funny, looks right i9nto your eyes when you speak to him..and he waits until you are completely finished..he said to me "Don't be nervous,relax"..he told another fan "Do what you do best, never give up,Lennon told me that when I was recording the 'Fascination' album'...seen 'em 30 times wonderful, extremely funny gentleman..I could go on...all best !
I'd like to say that the constantly shaky focus and poor sound are due to this being digitized, but I remember seeing it in the theater in the late '70s and thinking that it looked like total crap even then. It's not even decent film stock for shooting under stage lights. Hell, if the Maysles' could get good images in _Gimmie Shelter_ at Madison Square Garden, much less at Altamonte, in 1970, then Pennebaker should have been able to do so at Hammersmith in '73! A wasted opportunity.
No gemma we drove by there last month and it is not called the Hammersmith anymore...all is gone my love..but all the memories...I love you baby...hope your life continues ...safe...happy as can be...and full of hope...

I love David so much! I just wish i were born sooner than 1995 maybe 1960 so i could have witnessed all this! David Bowie is definately a person I have to meet one day! that lucky girl ran up for a hug lol I would have been that person ;)
i was born in 1969 and i was on a Bowie concert and i didn't meet him. :) although i was walking in the city (budapest) for days looking for him... it was probably in 1991, i dont' remember exactly. some months after that he married Iman... i didn't think seriously we could meet (and we didn't) but i had to try it... :) fool girls...
Yes, but he said this is the last time "WE'LL" play together, and he was right. That band never played together again. Knowing Bowie as a consummate calculator, that word "we'll" was no accident.
Hi ! I got a DVD where there's that song, exactly this one, with the little "speach" when he said "it's the last show that we'll ever do"; 5/5 ! Bowie is simply one of the greatest artist of this world ! That's what I think, and nobody can make me change what I think ! BYE !
i don't think thats entirely true, but its a nice idea. his band would have probably known, and ronson certain knew cus they talked about their futures, and bowie recommened slaughter on 10th avenue fro ronsons first solo album. i
m assuming many other people knew about it as well...
well im only 14 so obviosly i wasnt around at the time. but my dad brought me up listening to him and apreaciating, him and he is honestly the greatist artist in the universe. he's my idol! he shows that people who are different ROCK ! ! ! weirdo's rock out the hardest! and also us lefty's rule too ! ! i love this song it is one of my favorite's, the speach always kinda makes me sad... hehe. i cant explain how much he means to me or how much he rocks espeacially back the \m/
