if you simple want amazing audio quality. stick with sony.

if you like to have extras and dont mind listening to music at a decent quality. stick with ipod.

its simple. both are great pioneers of technology. (but sony obv rules well it comes to audio)

The bottomline is that NO IPOD has ever been made that can match a good Sony mp3 player of its generation. Even the supplied Sony headphones are better than the rubbish that Ipod supplies with its units.

This is the story for several years now.

@sonofthedestroyer Really? The advantage of the touch is it has a HD video camera, shit load of apps, and webbrowser. If all you use for your mp3 player is music, get a SanDisk Sansa.

I have a 16gb Sony Ercission phone, and I haven't used the walkman in ages. Really, who cares about audio quality? I highly doubt you listen to uncompressed .wavs on your mp3 player.

Walkman = good for music only

Touch = everything

Ipod less sound quality and proprietary software. The day Ipod learns to make drag and drop mp3 players, they might be worth it. Sony learnt from their mistake and rejected that Sonicstage nonsense

Sony is the numero uno for me. Their one problem in sound is excessive bass. But other than that they are the best. Creative and Philips come second. Ipod 3rd.

Sony and Ipod tend to have better reliability and design. Creative and Philips are known for crashing all the time.

Although this X series is a bit too expensive. I got my older model for 1/3rd less than its Ipod rival and all my friends with Ipods agreed it was superior to their Nanos

A jail broken Ipod touch is the best mp3 player you're going to get. I'm pretty sure you won't be able to find another mp3 player with a capacitive touch screen and a 1ghz processor for under 300$.

Actually 2 of my friends have Ipod touches. One has an 8gb and the other the 32gb.

Both agreed my 2008 Sony Walkman was superior in sound and handling (no annoying touch screen which gets grimy). The only advantage of Touch was the large screen for watching videos, which i dont care about as i dont watch videos on small screens.

@Varomanxp Because Zune HD has Apps and better interenet (which suppoorts more websites) It"s cheaper, it has a great marketplace, has a great interface, has great video quailty ,and HD Radio. but I do have to say sony x has great sound quailty (like if you turn it all the way up it might make your ears bleed)

But the Sony X is a great device. Zune HD just seems better to me (my opinon)

i got to agree for the price they are offering it does kind of suck, however no one can beat sony in sound quality.

If you want apps and functionality well ipod touch is the way to go.

I am waiting for them to drop the price for this by $200 dollars, than I got to say it is not that bad considering their OLED image quality.
