One thing is for certain, the Islamic revolution wouldn't have happened in Iran if America & Britain hadn't overthrown their democracy in '53 & killed 10s of 1000s of resistors to his rule.
The people worshiped Mossedegh for stopping the British from stealing their oil.
Hopefully Iran will get true democracy, but hopefully not one that has to bow to the wishes of the 'democracies' in the West.
Whilst Britain & America still want control of the oil, there is little chance of true democracy.

You may notlike it, but without the West, there would not be democracies. Learn to be a team player. The world is getting too small for you ancient mindsets.
It is not oil that is at stake here, it is regional stability for the world. if a nuclear arms race gets started here, the whold world will suffer, not just the West.

Your assertion "logical Fallacy" is false. After 1953 coup, Shah banned all political parties; there was no freedom of expression or assembly. In the absence of any political freedom, people were deceived by Khomeini's rhetorics. In a dem-ic society, he would have been nobody; instead of publishing his bs in his book, so people would now what kind of a devil he was, the Gov. banned it! It is only in free marketplace of ideas (as was the case in 1951 to 53) that people become politically educated

Please define the absolute certainty upon your argument rests if this is not a logical fallacy. You can say that this was a possiblity, but that's about it. Capiche? There certainly could have been different results after the shah took power.

Dear I8rthen: I sent you a detailed response regarding "Logical Fallacy". I agree with you that without the West, there would have been no democracies. Credit to the west (beginning with Greeks) to come up with such civilized ways to govern a society. As to your worry about regional stability, I am against Iran's attempt to get atomic bomb, but so should Israel be condemned for producing some! We can't have double standards. Israeli conventional arms are enough to defend its borders.
