A lot of people miss the point of these commercials. The cars with fancy commercials trying to make it look sexy, or rugged, or whatever are not really special. Toyota is being honest, and poking fun at advertising. That's something that will bring in the 'nerdy' demographic today, which are the people who have the money. (the spinning rims and racing stripes crowd don't have jobs)

@TCoops that's the idea, toyota made this ad. not to make the yaris look like one of these super -duper-multifunctional-futuris­tic cars... it was made for the people to see, that it's just a car, with some goodies, but not exeeding the "useless" spot.

I have a 2011 and I'm getting 43mpg. I think that is pretty sweet since that is what I bought it for. There are definitely no high tech frills. It is just a small/light car with all the basics, high reliability, high safety marks and great gas mileage at a low cost.
