why does everyone testing a camera stabilizer jerk the rig forward and back. I get your trying to demonstrate balance but in practice you would never use that shot. It would be like me testing sound system at max gain.
I think the lens was a f/2.8 and not the f/1.4 lens. It looks to small to the be the 'L' lens.

The f1.4 is not an L lens, the f1.2 is the L lens. There is also an f1.8

The lens on the Merlin camera is a Canon 24mm f/1.4 prime.
