Also what your actually doing is distorting all your audio and then bringing it back down and I have no clue why. If you want better audio tracks you do what the pros do you use a compressor and then run a normalizer on it to set the maximum volume level.
This is an ok tutorial but there is a better one somewhere on youtube that shows you how to figure out the "hw:0,0" numbers to get gtkrecordmydesktop to record from your sound device. Its so much easier than all this.

Why don't you just record in audacity and then start screen casting? So you get both at the same time.

If you record sound and video at the same time on a computer with less ram, it can cause latency and maybe even crackling in the audio.
