i adore Colin Firth, but, for me, Mcfadyen was the better Darcy. He did brought a sense of vulnerablity to the proud Darcy that was really quite sexy on its own way. there was more sexual tension and angst between him and knightley that was palpable.

I love Pride and Prejudice! In my opinion its way better than Romeo and Juliet (Mostly because Jane knows that love at first sight is just weird and that characters need to develop) Mr. Darcey is so charming and seems so innocent! He makes my heart melt! Austen is a terrific author capturing the human soul! I love it!!!

jane austen is a phenomenon. But why is this phenomenon known as Jane Austen? Austen wasnt rich, she did not mix with the famous authors of her day,she published anonymously,not beautiful and whose name was not attached to her books while she was alive..so why is she remembered now? A stranger passing Jane Austen on the street would have no reason to believe he was looking at THE WOMAN who would represent their era, some 200 yrs later.I love Jane Austen and all her books..

I don't think that is a far thing to say. I am a fan of BOTH versions.  You can't compare the two because they are completely different. I don't believe one is better than the other. Both beautifully done and both excellent versions. By the way this version isn't the "hollywood" version. It was made by Focus Features which is a British movie production....just so you know
