  • We're playing this in band right now :D This song is not hard though, I don't know what everyone else it talking about. Just takes practice if so c(;

    1st clarinet love♥

  • The clarinets sound lovely! We're doing this piece at my school but it doesn't sound half as good as this, or at least not yet.

  • Not hard to read the notes, but challenging to play with skillful balance!

Played this in HS in 1970's, again in 2009 with community band; timeless, beautiful literature for wind ensembles.

  • Very nice job Clarinets at 4:14 with the high E, then the transition from High E to High C# at 4:22! Very good tuning!

  • I have no idea what people are talking about. This was such an easy piece.

  • the tunning isnt quite right but it's better than what ive heard from many band's

  • Played snare on this. To be honest, the song was easy, and I'm a sophomore...

  • @NoahMAngott. My band just got this, and I'm playing snare on it. Also a sophomore. The only tricky part is the rolling patterns, but you're right, the song is relatively easy.

  • @bonedeath0 That part that goes "1, &, &, & 1?" Yeah, I screwed that up every time, except for three times: to at concerts and one at a band competition. Hehe, I got lucky.

  • i love the song my school is going to play the song on a competion next week

  • We are playing this song in our marching concert band and we sound like crap after a month of practice and we are the most known for speedy learning of music but this this is hard this piece which gives you a lot of respect for near flawless playing but trumpet 1 needs to be louder

  • this song always reminded me of pirates xD

  • @TinasaurusRAWR

Really? It kinda reminds me of the Great Gatsby.

  • no its not as hard but it is a hard piece to get all the dynamics and stuff

  • We played this for Highschool. I had the Tuba part. Epicness insured! I really hated the song, especially the low brass runs. But I enjoyed playing it with a band about half the size of this.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Frick? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    Good job btw.

  • funfun song

i hate how the alto saxes steal a perfectly good horn part here

especially when the horn is very good

    horns unite!!!

but the top trumpet part could've been (dare i say it) brought out a little more

  • i can tell that this band has only rehearsed this song alittle because theyre no shaping of the musical line. they played everything perfect though and when they have a dotted sixteenth note connected to a eight note put a space between the dotted sixteenth and the eigth

  • good low brass, amazing euphonium tuba and clarinets first was beatiful

  • Trumpets i know how those Fanfares are. It's fast but you got to keep everything even. I remember playing this in 10th grade

  • i hate how they dont have the crash cymbals and you can barely hear the timapni

  • my music teacher did his masters thesis on this song. This group is only ok despite the bad audio

  • My middle school band is playing this..

    FIRST CHAIR CLARINET!!!!!!!!!

    O yea!!!!!!! lol

  • @crazykittycoocoo Try first trumpet that was awful. And we only had one horn

  • what movie was this song featured in?

  • Im playing this with a solo its not easy

  • We are too but symphany isn't because it's way too easy. Nice tune, but really easy to play.

  • wer playing this

  • so am i. tomorrow. im on snare

  • playing it in high school as well... horn part and got the solo. should be interesting..

  • we're playing this in my highschool band.....i play the tuba part.eh.....we suck.

  • Our trumpet section doesn't sound that good. . . sigh.

  • Pretty good song. I like the slow part the most. It also sounds pretty cool to swing the slow part

    :-]]]

    love it

  • its actually harder then it appears on paper.

  • @Sharod101 most of frank erickson's music is like that

  • its true im in middle school symphonic band, and it's very hard with the trills cause im a clarinet player but were almost done with it!!

  • My high school is playing it, and when I go there, I'll have to play it on clarinet. But I bet it'll be awesome! I think this song was a song for Districts, and I was only off by like two points, so I think I can handle it in high school.

  • i played this at my spring concert i only like the slow parts i was 2nd clarinet

  • and we got a good on this song im sure...seeing how our overall score was a measily good...talk about heart break....................................we had the first supior marching band in a long long time though.

  • i played this my freshmen year....and i still love the slow part........its just stuck in my head...........now im just over the halfway part of my junior year.........wow that was forever ago.....did i mention three high schools in three years.....lol ive been in three different concert bands and three different marching bands, and three different states...lol well anyways........

  • We are playing this in high school honor band and I am the first chair trumpet and it is pretty easy. Not a hard that to handle, the high awkward notes are annoying sometimes.

  • omg i just strated playing clarinet this year and have 2 play this....

    its unfair!!!!!!!!!!!!

    did i mention in i 6th grade?

  • No way a 6th grade band can do this.... It has to be a different version that is twiddled down to the basic notes so you can play it.

  • I am in sixth grade, and I performed this pretty well with my school band!

  • so i absolutely HATED playing this my freshman year of high school

now 4 years later im really enjoying this piece

  • were u 1st im a sophomore and im first trumpet its annoying twords the end

  • yea i played 1st clarinet

  • i play bass clarinet in 8th grade and 2nite i playd wit the highschool with this song and a few others and this was one of my favs

  • i just played this for mpa...wheres the percussion? it sounds better with the snare and cymbals

  • no cymbal???

  • hey yeah...played this back in high school in 1983. hadnt heard the song since but its been stuck in my mind for a long time. as i was watching this i held my imaginary cymbals up ready for the 1st crash right before the trumpets did their thing...silence!! lol but was still good to hear the song after all these years.

  • lol nice stands

  • Really good. I love this song we played it my freshman year (last year) and there is a snare drum.

  • no snare drum?!?!

    dont hear it!!

  • I love this song! We played it in high school band. It was my favorite one we played for the winter concert.
