I found Sarah Palin's speech to the RNC last night to be petty, sarcastic, and mean-spirited. (Not to mention full of false statements). Which is exactly why the conservatives are giving her such a thumbs-up this morning.
She was nasty. Made me sick. She thinks turning down big money to help people is a joke. F her and the carabu she rode in on. What plan does Mcsame and Palin have to fix the mess we are in, none. the jet on ebay, lie, it didn't sell so she sold it to a camp contributer at a loss for the state. Just beacuse Sarah Palin has vagina, doesn't mean that women is going to vote for her. McCain really have problems if he thinks that women are so shallow and stupid. What Clinton supporters and Sarah Palin have in common is only vagina and boobs. Nothing else! Clinton suporters are more than gender! Sarah Palin is insult to woman intelligence! McCain, tell us a joke about gorilla raping woman- again.
It's only an insult to women's intelligence if it doesn't work. If it works, then it's just good strategy. Women are not immune to shallow political ploys. Unfortunately, just because you are a woman and you see through the chicanery doesn't mean everyone does. For some this may have been just the push they needed to vote for McCain. By the same token, I would not call this move "brilliant". Palin's got more question marks than the Riddler.

Besides, everything we have read about Obama's parents, suggests they got married before they had him.. If his mum got pregnant with him before getting married, for his 20+ years in public life, this has not come up- to the best of my knowledge. How can that be? Remember it was because no one could find dirt on him except his self confessed "sniffs and inhalations", that people around him got targeted to tar him. Note that the pregnant girl is a teenager too...it happens...

I hope you're right, Hotfile. It's a bold move, but is it right for our country? I hope that the media finally does their job and let's us know all about her. This just confirms my vote for Obama as stronger than ever.
While it is true that Obama worked with Dick Lugar on arms control, Senator Obama also voted against troop funding and against tax relief for the middle-class.
Don't you think it's fiscally irresponsible for Bush vastly increase the size of the federal government, way bigger than any dem (including clinton) has done?
YES. Bush's economic policies are failures. Obama would just add to Bush's policies of more spending and more government, but he would also regulate more.
If I was a McCain advisor I would probably be a little nervous looking at the latest poll numbers. Palin was a good pick and may get some undecideds to the polls if she makes her presence known on the campaign trail. Even so, it's starting to look like Obama's race to lose.
MarxistObama - At the risk of sounding like I'm defending thehotfile, I haven't seen any evidence that she embraces "far-left radicals" or has far-left views. Not all democrats are bad and not all fellow republicans are good. OK, then.
VP markets don't work well on prediction markets because only a small select group of people know the true answer so almost all of the trading is from guessing. Presidential markets, however, have been shown to be quite accurate over time.
Oh....one last thing. If democrats and liberals want "change" and want to "take America back" (I personally don't understand what they mean by that), then what change are they offering. The democrats took control of the house and senate quite some time ago. Have you seen the congressional approval rating? It's 17%. Bush's is 30%. Last question: What has congress done for us lately? Is that the "change" Obama's talking about. Sounds like "more of the same" to me.
I agree. I hate those empty phrases, but you know it's just marketing-speak. "Take America back" is as silly as "support the troops". These sayings don't mean anything. Look at advertising campaigns. People make purchases based on emotional responses.
1) Lots of folks get law degrees and teach 2) He served 3 years as Senetor. 3) Running a massive "rock concert" campaign does not a president make. And by the way, his rise in politics is no different than any other Chicago politician. He voted present over 100 times, refusing to vote up or down on issues at hand. Lastly, I asked you about Obama, but for some reason you felt you had to throw in your talking-point digs about McCain. I ask again, what qualifies you as program manager?
One with a: strong, documented record on environmental issues, extensive record of sponsoring and co-sponsoring significant legislation, one who has served for over 20 years in the Senate, on with military service, one with a pro-life record, one with strong foreign policy, one with a strong free-trade record, one who cares about how gov't spends our money, one who believes that America's security comes first. One who cares about family. Good?
Good, so that means you'll be voting for John McCain, right? He meets everyone of those qualifications. ;-) Abortion can be a tough one. I think they are going to have to litigate the argument of "when does life begin" before we can put this one to rest. In the spirit of disclosure, I'm a Christian and believe in pro-life (interesting that you say abortion) so I'm influenced by that, however, if I set that aside, I believe I would still be pro-life based on the preponderance of evidence...
How about instead of pro life we call it anti choice? :-) Anyway, Mccain's obviously qualified to be president, Obama is admittedly on the green side, and Palin is no where near qualified. The reason I want Obama is b/c we need to restore the respect of the US around the world and return some good foreign policy judgment to the white house. Starting wars in foreign countries is not a good way to win friends. Mccain minus his hawkish and anti-choice bent is fine. The GOP has had their 8 years.
First sentence: good comeback! Thanks for a good, civilized discussion. I wish you and your party the best of luck in November. Regarddless of who ends up winning, I hope for a more "come together" tone in this country so that we can get some work done and continue to be the best, strongest, most giving and most noble country on God's green earth. Divided...we fall. OK, now I'm starting to sound like one of those cheesy Micky Rooney movies.
I think you've got this one right... pro-choice is not anti-life... I like how this argument is developing... Too many simple truths are being characterized wrongly and their supporters demonised... It doesn't make sense!! But then if you speak your mind you are demonised again as an "elitist"...
I wonder why Barack didn't make this election a political bare knuckle brawl... It was good judgement on his part though... The world doesn't need self-serving, divisive politics.. Enough is enough!!
At least Obama wants to do something to lower the number of unwanted pregs, like real sex ed, the morning after pill, ect.. Abst only programs don't work just ask Sarahs little girl. The people in this country must wake up. Mcsame has no plan, he will bring no change, no improvements to our lives, His staff are all oil lobbyist, what a joke. Obama has real plans, real Ideas to help kids go to coll, fix the energy crisis, bring back jobs. what does Mcsame have? nothing.
Can anyone explain why we should elect Obama? I find it interesting that whenever an Obama campaign rep or supporter is asked "can you name some of his accomplishments that qualifies him to be president?" You never get a straight answer. They just sit there and squirm and then start to get defensive. Did you see Michale Dukakis the other night trying to answer that question? I felt sorry for the guy...he kept reaching for something, but there was nothing...
Unless one has been president before, isn't everyone "unqualified"? What qualifies one is a complicated question but I would say: strong leader, resourceful, intelligent, good decision maker and ethical and I believe Obama embodies these qualities. McCain has most of those qualities but in my judgment will make poor decisions in regards to the global war on terror.
Strong leader? Give some examples. Resourceful? Give some examples. Good decision maker? Please be more specific. You see, this is all you get when you ask about Obama's qualifications: Generalities. You "believing" that he embodies these qualities does not make it true. Take John Kerry for example: Democrats spent a lot of time focusing on his military service as part of his qualifications...why isn't that a main topic today? Because neither Obama or Biden served in the military.
"What qualifies one is a complicated question" - You're a program manager, right? What qualified you for that position? What does your resume' say? "I'm a good person, I work hard, I have strong leadership skills, etc"? No, of course not, it says where you went to school, where you've worked in the past and maybe even a list of all of your "accomplishments". So why wouldn't this apply to the presidency? I agree that it's a complicated question for one who has a thin record.
I like how you start all comments with a headline. They're like RNC press releases! I don't the race is over quite yet. Obama's still leading the polls according to the electoral map and currently has a 60% chance of winning on the prediction markets.
thehotfile - Obama is only up by 4 pts according to RCP average through 8/29. If Obama was our man, shouldn't he be hitting it out of the park by now? It will be interesting to see what the numbers tell us once updated.
More women vote then men. We can't call her and McCain chicken hawks. Her son gives her somthing to lose in war and her son will give McCains campaign some substance rather then empty rhetoric. They will walk the verbal tight rope with words like sexism and racism floating about. Biden is not change and Palin is not experience. The soccer mom must use Tide. Very little dirt to dig up. Won't even let lobbyists into her office. If McCain keels over I might not vote 3rd party after all.
Republicans have this one in the bag. McCain has only met Palin once in his life,,, what does that say , he is looking to take the disgruntled Clinton supporters ,and he will get thier vote ,, say hello to another four years of economic and war hardship.
Why would a Hillary supporter vote for a right wing conservative like Palin? just cuz shes a woman too? gezzz, I hope the liberal women of this country are not that stupid.
ThinkingVeryLittle - Why don't you try coming up with your OWN talking points. You know how many times I've heard that talking point used by the NOBAMA camp? I hear an echo! What you aren't hearing from the NOBAMA camp are attacks having to do with experience. No...that wouldn't work, now would it?
I thought it would be valuable to put her two whole years of experience into context. She's the governor of Alaska -- a state with a population of 670,000. Her entire state has about as many people as Memphis, Tennessee, the country's 17th-largest city. So, 16 U.S. mayors have more constituents than Sarah Palin. Of course, she has her own mayoral pedigree, in Wasilla, Alaska, population 8,500. Haha
I think it was an interesting pick, trying to pull some Hillary swing votes away from Obama, but look at the mis-match in experience compared to Biden. I'm still dizzy from Obama's speach last night.
"Serious blows"?? "Life support"? The Obama campaine was finished BEFORE McCain selected Sarah! Get real and be happy that we have saved America from sure disaster.
I mean that if Obama would have been elected as president (I'm confident now that he will not be), this country would have been in serious trouble. I think you know what I meant. In any event, I respect your opinions and I like that you're doing. I don't agree with many of your views, but I respect the fact that you "representing." Keep it up!
Obama has been leading for awhile the polls according to the electoral map for quite sometime, that's what I meant by life support. I think Obama would make a fine president and wouldn't lead this country to sure disaster.
Don't you think personal freedoms have been curbed enough by the Patriot act?
Death penalty is useless in most cases b/c it's too expensive on the judicial system and hasn't been shown to be a super effective deterrent.
Guns are legal, what's the problem?
I don't understand why the right gets so upset about abortion. Shouldn't abortion fall under the "personal freedom" idea? Each person can choose to live their life how they see fit?
While I agree someone should be found guilty by a court, someone who commits a heinous crime and there's indisputable proof of them doing it, there should be an express lane.
----
Did you miss the Heller case?
By one vote the right for individuals to own guns was almost lost.
----
Abortion does fall under personal freedoms, those of the unborn. Mainly the right to live.
The unborn is your opinion, let me make my own decision as my personal freedom. You're against abortions? don't get one.
Yes I missed the Heller case.
Haha i'm glad we agree on the guilty by court thing...but express lane for death? Yikes! Cheer up! Life's not so bad!
Just an aside, i don't understand why the two most important issues to the right are abortions and guns. There seems like there's so many more important issues like the economy, war and good educational system.
I think people have started betting she's gonna get off the ticket in under 10 days....
The revelations are getting too many and even more serious/outrageous, if they are true, McCain will only keep her on if he privately concedes the election or decides to gamble on Americans putting their sensibilities aside to vote him in.
Palin is the treat of the week. Over the next 2 months all her skeletons will come to surface. Michael Moore said it best, she is an extremist. No abortions in the case of rape or incest??? Meaning divide and conquer wins again right?
You lot just want to win the elections at all costs don't you?
Yet McCain claims he'd rather lose an election and win the war in Iraq.
That is the blind-fold he's put on you. If you don't have your senses about you, you'd believe it!
Why else would he pick a running mate with more question marks over her than can be answered before the election?
You'd have voted in a glamour induced daze before you realize what you've got into the presidency.

thehotfile - Obama is only up by 4 pts according to RCP average through 8/29.

Neither McCain nor his campaign manager know Sarah Palin. This has to be Karl Rove's idea.

Republicans have this one in the bag. McCain has only met Palin once in his life,,, what does that say , he is looking to take the disgruntled Clinton supporters ,and he will get thier vote ,, say hello to another four years of economic and war hardship.

YEP it's true.. Democrats have an IQ 17 pts lower than Republicans, on average!..

If you include Bush it's about even.

1gulibleloser - of course you want me to change my talking point cuz you cant beat it.

Can't Attack SARAH PALIN'S Experience?

1gesteban 3 years ago
What do you mean by sure disaster?
thehotfile 3 years ago
What did you mean by:
"Serious blows directed at McCain"
"McCain campaign....life support"
I mean that if Obama would have been elected as president (I'm confident now that he will not be), this country would have been in serious trouble. I think you know what I meant. In any event, I respect your opinions and I like that you're doing. I don't agree with many of your views, but I respect the fact that you "representing." Keep it up!

Obama has been leading for awhile the polls according to the electoral map for quite sometime, that's what I meant by life support. I think Obama would make a fine president and wouldn't lead this country to sure disaster.
thehotfile 3 years ago
"sure disaster"
I'd say Obama & "the left" being able to put up 2 to 4 SCOTUS Justices would do harm this country would feel for the next 100 years.
I'd say that's a disaster.
AJAX556 3 years ago
What are issues from the left that worries you about SCOTUS appointments?
thehotfile 3 years ago
personal freedoms, property rights, states' rights, the death penalty, guns
And you can put Roe V wade under the states' rights column.
AJAX556 3 years ago
Don't you think personal freedoms have been curbed enough by the Patriot act?
Death penalty is useless in most cases b/c it's too expensive on the judicial system and hasn't been shown to be a super effective deterrent.
Guns are legal, what's the problem?
I don't understand why the right gets so upset about abortion. Shouldn't abortion fall under the "personal freedom" idea? Each person can choose to live their life how they see fit?
thehotfile 3 years ago
No.
-------
It's too expensive due to all the appeals.
AJAX556 3 years ago
The unborn is your opinion, let me make my own decision as my personal freedom. You're against abortions? don't get one.
Yes I missed the Heller case.
Haha i'm glad we agree on the guilty by court thing...but express lane for death? Yikes! Cheer up! Life's not so bad!
Just an aside, i don't understand why the two most important issues to the right are abortions and guns. There seems like there's so many more important issues like the economy, war and good educational system.

Have you been checking up on the news lately?
I think people have started betting she's gonna get off the ticket in under 10 days....
The revelations are getting too many and even more serious/outrageous, if they are true, McCain will only keep her on if he privately concedes the election or decides to gamble on Americans putting their sensibilities aside to vote him in.
