  • Meowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!

  • This is just wonderful and true artistic magic!

  • What string?! *cries* whaaat striiing D:

  • Pull the String!

    Pull The String!

    The perverts made,

    A story must be told.

  • Hahaha, so this is what they were alluding to when that Sam and Max narrator guy screamed "Pull the string!" in 'Beyond the alley of the dolls'.

  • you gotta admit lugosi does a great job delivering the lines

  • @TheJoec2005 It's like putting Johnny Depp in a B movie

Lugosi = excellent actor Glen Or Glenda= shitty production

the two usually don't go together

  • I seen lots worse movies than anything Ed Wood ever made-any Pauly Shore movie comes to mind

  • The funny thing is this scene doesn't make sense in context.

  • Oh man, those buffalo crack me up! What was Wood thinking?! Its so bad its good.

  • Press 2 for PULL THE STRING!

  • POOL THE STRINK!

  • My playing tug of war.

  • Pill the string,,,,PULL THE STRING! It wont flush if you dont!

  • Pooh, the stink!

  • He's the best

  • Pull the string! <~~~ This should be used in a tampon commercial

  • "A mistake is made." How prophetic Bela was---the mistake (Glen or Glenda) was about 3 days away from being put in the film cans and shipped to theaters in Oklahoma.

  • Bela Lugosi... the original bad-ass vampire from cinema.

  • I pulled the sting and got goop all over my face.

  • Why the hell is there a battle ax in the back? Did Lugosi frequent the Thunderdome?

  • Pull my finger.

  • Most bizarre film ever!!!!

  • Fascinating to see how Wood was influenced by the late soviet montage school of film - you see here how he has implemented the nondiegetic shot of the charging buffalo in a way that is remarkably similar to the conceptual point Eisenstein put forward with his theory of Intellectual Montage. Truly a masterpiece of allegorical cinema, I tip my hat to mr. Wood.

  • I love Bela!

  • Wasn't he already telling a story?

  • GREAT GREAT GREAT CLAP CLAP CLAP THIS IS PURE ART!

  • Pull the strrrring! Pull the strrrrrring!

  • You could use this quote for practically anything involving ropes and string! x)

  • Actually, if Ed Wood had a million bucks to make a movie, the bad acting, terrible continuity, and awful scripting would still remain.

  • This movie is no Plan 9 from outer space for sure!

  • Ed's movies actually aren't THAT bad.... they have entertainment value anyway

  • 3 people PULLED THE STRING! LOL

  • This is stranger than "Billy is an Idiot". But nowhere near as funny.

  • I just can't make sense of this scene at all

  • Pull the strink?

  • Imagine if Ed Wood had a million bucks to make a film.....he would be one of the most well respected and famed screenwriters/directors/editors/actors/all the other things he did-ers in film history.

  • If Ed Wood had a million bucks to make a movie, he would be one of the most well known and famed screenwriters/directors of all time. Unfortunately he had only a few thousand borrowed bucks, a few days at most, a limited roster of actors, and bottom-of-the-line equipment. For his resources, he produced continuous masterpieces. But if he had a million bucks to produce a film he would be by far the most respected name in films.

  • @murcielago06gt

Krzysztof Kieślowski did The Decalogue (ten films) for 100,000 bucks (10,000 for each one!) and it's masterpiece...

  • why...why does Mr.Lugosi have a battle axe?

  • @superkeaton

Probably came from a failed vampire hunter. He missed the neck, now the axe is a souvenir in Dracula's office.

  • does anyone know the name of the movie where there was a crazy german guy in an apartment building, killing people and one of the lines was "Pull the string!"? the details may not be right, but one of the lines WAS " Pull the string!"

  • @Exarian Beautifully put, and oh so true.

  • These days, it's Glenn saying "pull the string!" (LOL)

  • Avant-Garde, really. It doesn't work, but at the same time, it does.

  • STAMPEDE!!!

  • 3 youtubers didn't pull the string. :D

  • Poor Bela. Still he's gotta a point. A Story MUST be told.

  • =_-

  • Ed wood is a great movie maker... but his movies sucked. he was a truly great guy who happened to suck at what he loved to do... but he did it anyway and the world is better for it.

  • Superman Returns sucked way more than any of Ed Wood's

  • PULLLLLLLLLLLLLL THE STRING LMAO WTF IS HE TALKING ABOUT LMAO LOL PULL THE TRING PULL THE BING PULL THE FRING

  • Pool this drink... POOL THIS DRINNKK!! D:<

    ...Amish takes mate D:

    Estori must be tall.

It's a metaphor for buffaloes, obviously.

  • So I never saw this movie, but what do Buffalo have to do with Bela Lugosi?

  • @crowtservo Ed Wood moves in mysterious ways. It's not for us mere mortals to ask questions like that.

  • Pull da strink !

  • @moznrick agreed!

  • Ed Wood's films sucked ass but they had a heart and soul, something that is missing from most modern movies

  • I'm confused, Ed wood was called the worst director of all time, and yet everyone likes him...why?

  • @roboguy75 it's because his movies are so bad they're good

  • @roboguy75 He made some bad movies but they were not sheer cash-ins unlike other movies of this day and age.

  • @roboguy75 They were awful movies on a technical evaluation. The lines were cheesy, the special effects were awful and he wasn't open to others' ideas. This is why he's so bad, but this makes for great entertainment. It's just plain hilarious, just like Tommy Wiseau's "The Room" which is in my opinion even worse (but even more entertaining) than this. :P

  • @brandon91616 I get the feeling Tommy Wiseau is going to become the next Ed Wood.

  • @Stauderhorse : That would be awesome.

  • @roboguy75 there so bad that there just amazing to watch. and no matter how bad they were they had the passion that so many mainstream movies lack. I think most people just admire his guts.

  • hm. early OB commercial?

  • i just watched Ed Wood for the first time last week..i want to go watch Glen and Glenda now

  • Imagine if Ed Wood had a million bucks to make a movie....

  • oh god! "Puuuull the striiing"!

  • The story opens on these mysterious explosions. Nobody knows what's causing them, but it's upsetting all the buffalo.

  • George Lucas is Ed Wood with 1000x the budget. And Wood wrote better dialogue

  • "Pull teh strink!"

  • "Mr. Lugosi. I know you're very busy but can I have your autograph?"

    "Certainly."

"You know which one of your movies I loved Mr.Lugosi? The invisible Ray. You were great as Karloff's sidekick"

    "Karloff? Sidekick?...FUCK YOU!!"

  • what the hell is bela saying right after he says pull the string? Is he saying a mistake is made?

  • scadooney free

  • scadooney trinko mayo gerfolin

  • What is the actual meaning behind this?

  • Puulllll the strink! Puuuuullll the streeeeenk!

  • best scene EVER

  • pull the strings!!!???? what kind of drugs was ed wood on to write this crap????? although his accent is amazing and funny!!!!

  • I'm trying! I'm trying!

  • It have a lot of heart but i don't understand at all the metaphore

  • David Lynch actually got some of his ideas for Eraserhead from this movie.

  • does anyone knows what the fuck he mean by that?

  • Ed Wood was the best. His movies are really interesting. if you want you can check out my original song called "The Milk Of Kindness, Little Animals" being played with images from 50's b movies. You might like it.

  • My eyes get teary watching this movie its too funny:D

  • What.

  • Ed Wood the first youtube director.

  • A fantastic use of stock footage of bison.

  • PULL THE SKHINK! A mistake is made! WTF man lol

  • Simply Amazing Mr Wood was the precussor of nowdays Onyric movies!!

    Fascinating beyond common comprehension.

  • UN GENIO! MUOVO IO I FILI!

  • PULL THE STRINK PULL THE STRINK!

  • A story MUST BE TOLD.

  • This scene was actually kidna creepy in a bizarre way until out of nowhere "Pull the string! Pull the string!" Still even in Wood's films Bela Lugosi rules.

  • Why bison?

  • @bobobobo568 Why not?

    Maybe he found them tasty.

  • @bobobobo568 Why not?

  • Marvelous!!!

  • Martin Landau KILLED this role! Man, are you kidding me? The man was a genius in playing Lugosi!

  • Pull the Stringk! PUUULL THE STRINGKK!

  • what's a "strink"????

  • Why is there bison?

  • Erm, no reason really. Ed Wood had a fondness for using stock footage. The fact that it often had nothing to do with the movie never deterred him.

  • Because Lugosi pulled their stringsks!

  • LOL

  • Pull the Stringk

  • ed's films have a lot more heart and soul than bay's. woods films are the ones he wanted to make. bay's films are the committee board room generic crap they want him to make. bay's films are product. wood's films are the product of an enthused would be artist with bigger dreams than his talent. bay is just a technician. bay dreams of a big pay day.

  • "bigger deams than his talent"

well said, im writing an essay on mr wood for college and id like to very much steal that line :)

  • I have two words for you.

    Thank you.

  • @johnrunion transformers 1, no, transformers 2, yes

  • @roboguy75 jerry bruckheimer, michael bay, the late don simpson, james cameron are the death of cinema!

  • @johnrunion the jerry bruckheimer, yes, don simpson, yes, michael bay, he made 2 movies I liked, transformers 1 and armageddon, I thought those two were good, james cameron, HOW THE HELL IS HE TERRIBLE, HE MADE ALIENS, TERMINATOR 1 AND 2 AND MORE, unless you are talking about avatar

  • @roboguy75 like george lucus, cameron is not a director. he is merely a technician. all he does is get an often told story and then tell it in the most difficult manner possible; think the abyss, titanic, avatar. his films are heartless; devoid of soul. alienS is crap. all it is is rambo in space with the aliens taking the place of the north v-n. cameron worked on both alienS and rambo; both are rescue missions. alienS has nothing on alien.

  • @roboguy75 this is getting to be one of those if you have to ask, don't ask situations. because if you like that crap you will never understand...

  • I love how the bison at 0:13 just walkaway like "Oh sod this, I'm going to broadway!"

  • I think he's refering to the string/rope you pull to pull up the curtain for a play to start, right?

  • your geuss is as good as mine

  • During the writing procedure, Wood told Lugosi that he would be playing the part of the narrator in Glen or Glenda, he would be in control of the characters fates, like the puppet master, Lugosi then commented that it would be like 'pulling the strings', this is why it was included.

  • @AnthonyWeston oh ok, and thanks to maddox626 too, that kind of makes more sense

  • Really now? Where did you read this?

That does shed more light on the subject.

During the beginning of the film, Lugosi goes on this tangent on people in a very angered tone. I always assumed that "pulling the string" had something to do with being a misanthrope. Perhaps here, Lugosi is pulling a string himself.

I think David Lynch would be able to come up with a good explanation for all of this.

  • In the movie Ed Wood, he was referring to himself having power or something and referring to himself as the puppett master. lol

  • are you sure it wasent just his crappy writing? lol

all of ed's movie's seem to have dialouge that makes little to no sense.

  • Wow, Martin Landau has him dooown..

  • pool da strink!

  • This is without question the single greatest moment in cinematic history...

  • This line changed my life!

  • Pull WHAT string?!

  • Ed Wood was an authentic movie maker, and any one of his movies is better than Transformers 2.

  • Micheal Bay < Ed Wood

  • Agreed.

  • @Rachman1337 You are my new best friend...what to go show Mr Bay my pen related magic trick? It involves eyes...

  • @Rachman1337 Just... no. Transformers 2 at least has visual qualities going for it, even if the rest sucks. Production qualities go a long way. Ed Wood movies have nothing going for them... which I guess can make them entertaining in their own right. Still, I don't freakin' care which director put more "soul" into his movies. It's the final product that matters, do we not agree? Not that I think Ed Wood even did put soul into his stuff. He wanted to make money like the rest of them. But he blew.

  • Ed Wood was about as authentic of a filmmaker as James Rolfe, or any home filmmaker. Perhaps he does put his heart into it, but that doesn't mean he makes quality productions, and much less that he is even remotely qualified for the comparison to major filmmakers.

In fact, I've seen YouTube-skits done by hip-hopping wiggers that surpass the quality of anything I've seen Ed wood do. That says a hell of a lot, I should think.

  • @SiGhast

I didn't say he was the best film maker in the world, and I only compared him to one film. He's actually very awful. Some of his films just have more soul at the core than a big budget 2-star movie. Trans2 wasn't that bad though, only a couple of his films are better.

  • @Rachman1337 Fair enough.

  • @Rachman1337

    Got that right !

  • man these movies are cheesee

  • mmmm... delicious cheese (drools)

  • ed wood maybe not the best but hes love for hes movies is inperional to others thats y he so respected not that hes the best because it shows u can be a shitty film maker but if u got heart u got fans

  • ed wood would have been a youtube partner in these times

  • Ed Wood was a genius and if you don't realise this......then it's your stupid minds...stupid! stupid!

  • PULL THE STRINK!!!! god thats awesome

  • that's what she said.

  • I am dead serious I will go to hell and back to get a ringtone version of this for my Cell Phone

  • dl the video and make it an mp3

  • Thank you

  • I thought this would make more sense if I saw the actual Glen or Glenda movie, but it only made me more confused!

  • LOL! I really thought this scene was exaggerated in Ed Wood, but... It's uncanny! XD

  • Wow, I felt exactly the same about it! xD

  • Thanks for telling me how to untie my shoe.

  • AFI should add either this or his Atomic Supermen speech from Bride of the Monster to their list of best movie quotes. I'm 100% serious

  • Yeah, Lugosi without his accent, that would've totally worked.

  • If you start learning a foreing language as an adult you may never have the right pronunciation.

  • Unbelievable! how Wood could put such a nonsensical prologue before a stock clip of STAMPEDING BISON and think it would work!!!

  • Ed Wood is king! One can learn so much from him.

  • yea how NOT to make a movie ha ha ha.

  • Even though he was one of the worst directors of all time.

  • Words to live by.

  • hahaha... he'z so great

  • Bell-lah Gossy-ah, everytime I kiss you I get holes in my neck!

  • Bela's the best! i love his 'bevaree'! later on in the film.

  • what genre does this movie even fall into?

  • This film is in the genres of horror and semi-autobiographical

  • Merci Encore Bela..

  • big lipped aligator moment, perhaps?

  • Wow, I got to see both a reference to AVGN and TGWTG in the same comment page of a semi-related video. Nice.

  • One of the late greats :)

  • I love Bela.

  • bull the strink!

  • Fabuleux Bela...

  • What's with the bisons?

  • PULL THE STRING!

  • I know this is probably a pointless question to ask but, has anyone ever figured out why their was stock footage of bison playing over this scene?

  • they represent mankind, Bela playing god that pulls the strings, controls people.
