  • thanx so much for this! will this be the same for my 2002 yamaha yz250 2stroke? had a little ride on my bike theother day and when i came to my bike the following day there was fork oil on the floor, only seemed to be coming from the throtleside fork. what do you think this could be? either way im gonna be doing this myself so your uploads are gonna be gr8. thanx allot.

  • thank you so much ! i dont know what id do without you !

  • @Higgs104 LOL.. Thanks for watching!

  • thanks for this series my forks are leaking s little and sm going to replace them soon

  • @Peterrides Thanks for watching!

  • Well it turns out Yamaha does sell that plastic spring guide. Thank god. Thanks for you help!

  • @johnnysshop after watching this video once more I understand what your saying. Do you think I'd be able to put a PVC pipe around that dampening rod? If so what size?

  • @blazinhott112 I doubt it.

  • What the purpose of that white plastic piece around the dampening rod? Mine was broken when I rebuilt my forks. Do you think id be able to use the forks without that plastic piece? I would by a replacement by Yamaha doesn't sell that piece by itself I would have to purchase the whole dampening rod assembly, which is 300+

  • @blazinhott112 Well it's a guide for the spring and if I remember correctly it's sorta a stopped for the top cap. I amy be wrong on that one. It may work without it but the spring could/would be loud and could jamb up.

  • I commented on another vid but how do you take apart the fork seals (how do you unseat that clamp thing)

  • @shortyjk95 Getting them apart for the triple tree? If so, loosen up the bolts on the tree and slightly pry them apart with a screwdriver.

  • great video series. saved me $300! cheers!

  • @jona402 Thanks for watching, glad I could help!

  • thanks for these really helped

  • @oishisakana Thanks for watching!

  • Great series on forks. I am getting back into dirt bikes again and this is a HUGE help. I will be doing seals this weekend and will have your videos at the ready. I made my seal driver out of steel pipe instead of the pvc. Will use the old seal for protection on the pipe end. Do you have a video on adjusting the forks?? Thanks again!!

  • @mrjata Thanks for watching, glad I could help! I was going to use just the PVC pipe but liked the weight of the actual tool. I think I may have something on adjusting forks. I'll check. Good luck!

  • hey johnnysshop awesome vid! I am just on this step when rebuilding and when I pull the inner damper rod all the way up it doesn't stay but slowly goes down. I don't hear any air girggling and I have plenty of oil any idea on what may be happening here?

  • @shellegl It should go down slowly if I remember correctly.

  • Thanks, these videos are a big timesaver! Just a fast question, is there anything to keep in mind during cleaning of the suspension/tubes etc, or am i able to use a degreaser, water and maybe some compressed air to clean it all with? Thanks

  • @Axesss I used compressed air for the most part. If you have any seals in place I would use warm soapy water.

  • johnny i have a cr250 and the forks are way to stiff and dont move smoothly. i have altered the clickers and its still not right. The forks almost feel as if there dry. i had a big off not too long ago and ever since they havent felt right. do you think they maybe be bent? thanks.

  • @crosser925 They could be bent. I would bleed them, take the caps off and have a look see before you do anything crazy.

  • @Johnnysshop thanks

  • thanx for your reply. Yes both clickers are set the same but diffrent response from shafts. i hope its not the clicker. And thnx for all your vids. Good camera view and your info as u go throu the process . Gave me the courage to do mine.

  • @TheRm400 Odd. Have you tried to totally drain both dry and re-add new?

  • Ay Johnny: I got a 95 kx250. One shaft stays up the other does'nt . Do i need viagra.? But seriously thicker oil? am using 10w. Shaft takes 60 seconds to lower completlly. last 20 sec. verry slow. Theres a boat load of how to vidios, but you show more detail. Thus the reason I chose you for the question.

  • @TheRm400 LOL... Have you checked your rebound settings? I would go there first. Seems like you may have the clickers all the way in.

  • @educkett88 Measured.

  • i saw you got the Pivot Works Fork kit which is like $70 what was everything else you got. im doing this and i wanna do it right the first time.

    thx

  • @Crockrohr2 I had to buy new bumpers because mine were cracked. I think they were around 20.

  • johnny would u please inbox me about how u can tell if your crankshart is bad please would be greatly appricheated.

  • @SSPARALYZER Have to spilt the case, inspect the shaft and bearings. No way to completely tell it's bad without ripping it apart.

  • how much fork oil did u use for both forks?

  • @boobmaster75 Depends on the bike really. I think I used 1/2 quart or so total.

  • hi johnny great vids it has realy helped me out :) just 1 question, ime putting on a set of zeta fork bleeders do they just replace the valve in the top of the fork?

    Richard (England)

  • @bigmotherducka Thanks, glad I could help! You are correct on the bleeders. I have a fork bleeder video on here as well.

  • @TheFuelFreak Thanks!

  • Cool tutorial thanks..........

  • @LEEMC41 Thanks for watching

  • @Johnnysshop Your welcome........Ive done the forks on my sons 2001 kx250,any idea what the oil level should be from the top of the tube?Ive set it at 120mm from top with no spring! Thanks.

  • @LEEMC41 Not sure on that one. It should say in the manual, they are all a bit different. I guess more importantly, how does it feel?

  • Excellent work!!! You have saved me a small fortune.. Cheers!

  • @FIZA03FIZA03 That's what I like to hear!

  • Johnny, I've watched nearly all your vids. Superb. Got a problem on my kx250f with false neutrals. Told it's prob a bent shift fork. So I'm stripping it myself. Engine out so far and ready to start tonight. Would have been much more scared if it wasn't for your vids so you've saved me a grand in pounds sterling! Thank you...

Cannot wait to see this built. No expense spared on the aftermarket parts!

  • @SunSeaSnow82 I'm glad I could help! All of it's pretty easy, just take your time and label everything. Or if you have a photographic memory that helps too! Keep me posted..
