love how many people forget horses aren't naturally fight animals... Asking them to stay and fight back is against their nature as a horse, who's first instinct is EXACTLY what that horse is doing... Flight. It runs away from danger and harm. We as humans seem to forget it's their nature, even though we try and teach it out of them, it's still going to be there. And this horse has obviously proved it.
You see, if that horse was a REAL working cow horse, it would have probably kicked the calf. Or at least not let the calf push it around. My pony had more balls than that horse.
As soon as that rider backs off that calf, he and that horse are as good as done... My mare wouldn't back off like that, heck we wouldn't get any work done. She'd take a nip or two out of that hide and make the calf mooooo-ve!
This is Definitely without a doubt- NOT a Quarter horse, I don't care how many Reg. QH's you have, that means absolutely nothing. This horse is too Drafty looking.
It's a haflinger - since when do quarterhorses have feathered fetlocks (like a welsh pony or a clydesdale cross). Have a look when it's on a big screen people, clearly NOT a quarterhorse
And to everyone calling this HAFLINGER a palamino, they are NOT palamino's they are chestnut. DNA tested they are reds with NO creme gene. Just a piece of information on haflingers. :)
It might look like a palomino Quarter Horse, but it is a Haflinger...!! I was at that event. The speaker told us that the palomino horse was a Haflinger.
@loca1286 haha there is a video I wish I rememberd the link of this same vid where it says it is a haflinger. Plus look how the horse is built, it for sure is a haflinger :)
not a haflinger, it's a quarter horse.. i have 2 registered palomino quarter horses... not all quarter horses know how to work cattle either... one of mine could care less about cattle, the other pens them in the pasture all on his own... quarter horses are bred because they are agile enough to do cattle work and are an all round type breed, not bred because they are born knowing how to work cattle
That looks like a couple of reining horses & reining horses don't work cows they learn patterns so they woul have no clue about this. It is funny seing a couple of quarter horses with no clue on how to work cows.
I have the occasional cow that will fight like this in my herd and my mare bites the hell out of them, they run after that LOL! Sucks to be that guy in font of a crowd, that horse is really not all that cowy, hes a reiner....
To keep trying to work a cow when it's on the fight like that is a great way to ruin a good cow horse. If they get rammed a time or two, they will be scared of cattle for a very long time, sometimes the rest of their lives. They never make good cow-horses again.
In all my years of cutting and watching cutting, I have never seen such a thing. LOL, what an excellent video... this one is a keeper for my favorites.
@Efridis das hab ich auch gedacht..kuh im machtrausch...der war schon voll fixiert!un das pony hat jetzt ein sattes trauma bei braunfleckis....insignia294, das is kein haffi, das ist ein palomino...

@loca1286 That's not a Haflinger. It's just a palomino Quarter Horse. I have 3 of them, including a mare that is that same dark color.
