Much as I understand people hate Billy Mitchell - would you put your money on Steve Wiebe against him in a live performance regardless of what you heard stated in "King Of Kong"? (Wiebe has lost one such encounter where he had many games and Mitchell had one go) I wouldn't in a million years. Sometimes to be the best you have to have the attitude and the knowledge of how to play the whole game, everything to your advantage, you have to have the kind of belief that Evander Holyfield has.

okay lets all agree bill mitchell is an ass, but for the record he is a beast at classic arcade games. i agree though, he is a horrible sport, likes to make himself bigger than he is, and should have played steve head to head. i guess when you've become that famous from a videogame, you don't want your mistique shattered in a head to head against a new comer. Steve Wiebe is too class a guy to let slip that The King of Kong is convoluted drama vaguely based on actual events rather than a true documentary. The filmmakers manipulate their subject matter and audience as surely as Michael Moore. Love the film btw, it's great entertainment, but it isn't a documentary....

Steve Wiebe is the man!!! I think what they did to his donkey Kong machine was retarded just because he got the board from a guy who no one likes. Plus Billy Mitchell was just a bitch in the movie cause all he did was hide behind a tape that looked liked it has been edited to change the score. And plus he was never seen playing in public in the movie and could never give a reason why he wasn't at any of the events the Brian Kuh was there watching for him

Steve is hella sweet cuz he never makes the competition personal. Skill combined with good sportsmanship makes even random stuff like donkey kong interesting. Billy has skill but a terrible attitude. It makes it real easy to ignore him.

Billy Mitchell is not that bad a guy, kind of weird and sometimes comes across as arrogant but it's no reason to bash him like the film did.

For instance, the scene where Billy is meeting Steve Sanders outside and they tape him passing the camera and driving off. He actually got out of the car around the side and went in with his family to meet everyone, with the filmmakers in the same room. Also his score was already beaten in 2000 by Tim Sczerby and in 2003 by Weibe at 947,200.

I watched it again and I think Billy is a douchebag, but not for the reasons the filmmakers made up. I think he was planning one of his patented exclusive to him and his mullet Classic Arcade Gaming Legend stunts, but then Wiebe beat him to it, the 1,000,000 point game.

I hate that Mitchell was a jerk and wouldn't just play for fun with Wiebe, even if it meant losing in public. IT'S A GAME!

And I hate that Gordon/Cunningham didn't use real scores and facts. IT'S A DOCUMENTARY!
