Thanks for this video, you are correct about the name. I was in the Royal Air Force and posted to your island in 1954 for the atomic bomb tests, at that time two islands existed with the same names, the other christmas island is in the Indian ocean, but I will always remember your beautiful Christmas Island in the Pacific ocean. Both were named by captain cook but your island it is now called Kiribati Island, but we will both remember it by it's real name. God bless.

Christmas Island is part of the Republic of Kiribati and is the largest coral atoll in the world. It is a great fly fishing destination for it's bonefish and deep sea fishing is always a big adventure too. In the three years that I lived there (2006 - 2009) I have not gone out fishing and not catch anything so marine life is abundant there and I just want to point out that there ARE millions of crabs there too but not as many as the other Christmas Island.... and yes the crabs are edible.

I believe the latitude and londitude are exact opposite of where I live in Phoenix, Arizona. If you drilled through the Earth in Phoenix, you would come out at Christmas Island.

My fishing buddies and I went down there in '84. Took Air Tungaru from HNL and stayed at the Capt. Cook Hotel. A beautiful place and beautiful, friendly people. This brings back fond memories.
