So how much seam allowance did you leave? To me, it looks like an inch... but its hard to tell. (I usually go half an inch on my patterns... should I go a full inch for this one?)
Why pinking shears? I've been sewing for 40 years and rarely use pinking shears. Just wondering why you wouldn't cut it out with regular shears. Is it so the seam allowance is finished?
It's great you back, I was waiting for you and Megan to come back to DIY world! Thanks!!! And one question: could you, please, give me a name of the company from which you have this tracing paper? I couldn't find it in Poland (where I live), so probably, I'll try to buy it online. Thanks again!
I'll see if I can find a double wheel thing. IF NOT, I can always just put a seam allowence on the paper itself so I can see where I'm tracing. More time-consuming, but if I only sew occassionally, not such a big deal.. right?
A double tracing wheel! What a great idea! And it never occurred to me to cut fabric with pinking shears. But that's perfect b/c I don't serge or tape my seams.
Q. - I recently purchased a men's shirt pattern and the pattern has several different sizes. My question is - How do I preserve the whole pattern without having to cut it up just for the specific size? For instance I want to make a large but may need to make a small later on. I do not want to go and purchase more patterns! (Also, I am soo new to sewing, so forgive my lack of common knowledge)! :) Also, a tutorial on using a men's shirt pattern would be amazing! :) thx Craft-on ;)
@bluegemini24 It just imprints the pattern but over time it will weaken it. If you plan on using the pattern a bunch of times, I would put clear packing tape over the outline to make it last longer.
@Craftovision NOOOOO! Don't cut it!!! Its absolutely gorgeous. I miss my super long hair! And so does my husband! He says he likes how it feels against his skin...oooo....scandaloso! If you really want to rock a bob just buy a wig. Buy all the wigs in the world. But don't cut the hair.
@Craftovision i think you look like christina ricci a little and she looked very cute with her bob so definitely keep that idea in mind! btw keep up with the awesome vids plz they're awesome!!!
@99jwar get some large tracing paper (you can get it from craft stores) and trace each size remembering to mark which piece is what and the size. This prevents confusion in the future.
@99jwar what i do because i used the burda magazine patterns (you can t cut them because one sheet has like 6 patterns on it) is: i trace the pattern on transparent paper you can get big sheets for like 20 cents of euro
@99jwar Tracing the patterns is the best way to go, but if you're really unsure go to a copy shop and make a copy of ONLY the size you're going to cut this time. It shouldn't cost you more than two dollars. That way you know you have a perfect replica without paying another 10 dollars for a pattern. Then if you ever want to make a bigger size, you can do the same thing.

I think you'd look great with hair just about at the bottom of your neck and with bangs swiped to the side

does the wheel make holes in the pattern or is it similar to carbon paper where it just imprints the pattern?

I can't believe it's this simple. Why didn't anyone tell me they made double tracing wheels, could have saved myself hours of torment!
