@GanjaZombi2 And Lee takes much better care of himself, e.g. doesn't smoke. A good reason why Lee is still alive and acting at almost 90 years of age.
Due to Halloween I've spent the last several weeks watching most of Vincent Price's movies. I have to say that this film is the best of his work regarding Edgar Allen Poe. Mr. Price is allowed to shine and do EAP's stories justice.
I felt i had to contribute to the praise of vincent price,he is the greatest dramatic actor i have ever watched...if you want to see him perform shakespear he played a shakespearian actor on an episode of have gun will travel which is available on youtube where he does a scene.....i hope you enjoy it....it's a good show.
Only 16 000 views for such amazing work? I hate to sound arrogant, but people don't know talent when they see it. Truely, this is theatre and literature at its best.
I think is the best combination that will never exist. Edgar Allan Poe and Vincent Price...No one can give life to the Words of Poe like Vincent Price
I remember as a kid, long before there was VCRs I tape-recorded this and listened to it over and over again. Since most of the magic of this is in his wonderful voice I was overjoyed at how well it was just to listen these two masters.
Truly enchanting! My father had been telling me how he had seen this on t.v. when he was a little kid and so of course I really felt like I missed out on something. I'm so happy I found this, thank you, thank you soo much for uploading this!! Edgar Allen Poe and Vincent Price . . what an inspiring combination . . I feel October in my bones . .
@evelsteev I agree with you, I love both writers...there is this notion that Lovecraft is a sort of bridge from Poe to contemporary, which I can see I suppose, but even then, hit writing is too unusual...Regardless, both wonderful
@TheScrewball1982 Both writers are memorable, although Lovecraft acknowledged that Poe was an influence on him and some of Lovecraft's earliest stories resemble some of Poe's tales before he found his own voice and style. Arthur Machen was also an influence on Lovecraft especially with his emphasis on cosmic horror.
@davidjb100 Well, he would've turned 100 years old last year (2011), and with his ill health asking him to still be around is a lot to ask for. I wish that he hadn't smoked. But whatevs, he was a great actor and a great man. He is missed.

I look at the CRAP that passes for movies these days....remake of remakes of remakes......pathetic.
I do not see ONE good actor anymore that captures that old school Shakespearean charm that Vincent Price exuded in every performance.
We are not evolving to a higher level but degenerating to the savage and mundane...

@jeaniewryly and ruin a classic by tainting it with shit music that came from a now-dead pedophile? Go elsewhere, man.

edgar allen poe was quite briiliant.
He wrote the first detective stories(murder in rue morgue etc) years ahead of sherlock holmes stories.
Also the first horror stories.
He was a bit nutty i think though, you have to be to write stufff like he did.
