I am sorry to say this..but you all are wrong. no wires, or hoolywood tricks here....This is not the only art form that uses this method of "Transfering", those who are illusionist will know what I mean.
@MrMrchopper No, the mechanism is all inside his elaborate and giant costume, as well as the head piece, of course, there is nothing with the wall behind him.
@devilhunterred but the wall shakes and stuff and whenever he transforms *costumes* not masks. and whenever he changes color cloth he is in fron of one of the walls and u can see slits in them
AiYaaah', go go tai ho aah! This Master is Fantastic!!! I never saw costumes-change before with the 'Mask' routines! Excelent!!! Ho Ho! Do jie saai !!!

each mask is attached to a lead under the clothing. the arm movements setup up these leads so they can pull the masks through collar or neck of the clothing hiding it in the body. THis way the don't even have to cover their faces they can simply turn the head. Moving itno the hat would have many other obsticles to overcome.
@mixitup1time Yeah, basically everyone knows it's some kind of a mechanism within the costume and the head piece, but the problem is no one outside of the face changing circle is able to duplicate this mechanism and know exactly how it's done. There is no real magic in the world, only smokes and mirrors and illusion.
He's in the same league as a Western illusionist; and I'm blown away - really impressed - by his performance!
Nevertheless, I can appreciate the SCMP's comment, "Face-changing is still kept a well-hidden secret to outsiders..." in the Hong Kong context, as it brings to mind other cultural artifacts such as the Cantonese language, Chinese chess and Mahjong.
its not a secret behind this trick anymore, basically there are triggers on his back, strings tied with plastic rings, each time he pulls the ring, the silk mask quickly slips underneath his hat. so thats why he always have one of his hands behind his body before every mask changes.
how can???

中国的川剧变脸大师只有3人, 王道正, 彭登怀, 何洪庆。韋瑞群只可以说在这个方面突出者 ,大师的帽子有点大了吧 !

@MrMrchopper You can check out some other face changing performances in a large stage where there isn't a back wall nearby.
It has nothing to do with the wall.

Im sure now they use a mechanical device that facilitates all of this. Notice he says " it depends how your triger mech. is set.
