Thank you for this video! I did my big chop a month ago. I was that woman who went from long relaxed to TWA and I love it! I have a 2 year old son and he likes to sqwish his fingers in my hair and says "mommy looks pretty" It warms my heart. Your mother or somebody close must be natural 'cause you have much love (and knowledge)! This is my hope for my son to see the full beauty of black women. Thank you for the inspiration!

I agree with you 100%. yeah we as black women shouldnt have to explain why we want go natural etc. But at the end of the day many black men, just like many of us black women don't really have an understanding of natural hair. Just like we've grown up seeing our mother, sisters, friends with perms and weaves so have they. I think it's all about educating each other.

I don't feel I should, or have to explain my hair, WHY? I was born with this hair kinks and all. Do any other race of women have to explain their hair, NO, and neither do I. I don't have to educate anyone on why I prefer my natural hair. If a black man has issues with my hair texture, then he has problems with being black. I might have lol'd at you if you came to me about courage and stuff a lil over a decade ago when I did my 2nd BC. I faced my fair share of discrimination & hazing (work, school, etc) from blacks and nonblacks but every man I actually dated had more things to ask me about than my hair. It's "just" hair. For me it's not only the health, it's the standards of beauty that black women are forced to live by. For me, it's about defining my own beauty instead of letting the white girls on the beauty commercials tell me what pretty looks like. For me its no weave or heat products! We shouldn't have to have hair like a Hispanic, White, or Asian girl in order to be seen as pretty (not that it isn't pretty, but our hair is pretty too).! I love the video btw.
