You have confused me, I get tht part where the x are same sign so subtract however the next part isn't tht add cos signs are different?

He subtracts because he is not looking at the numbers in the middle but the numbers on the left which are both +

NVM, I asked the question before I worked it out... I should work out before I start questioning, sorry.

I realised after I've wrote that question that:

Different signs = add and same signs = subtract.

The video was misleading on that step hence why I've asked that question and so did the other guy. Thanks to the uploader!
