You're actually promoting Apple's unwillingness to allow Mac OS X being installed on anything but their machines as a pro. I wouldn't want to support something like that.

Furthermore Apple doesn't sell the "best machines". Especially iMacs are an abomination (just like any other "all-in-one" PC out there): Inflexible configurations trapped within a wholly sealed box that also includes the screen!

College students aren't so much "choosing" terrible Mac laptops as being inundated with propaganda that Mac is SOO much better. Trust me. I lived on a campus (University of Missouri) that spread this crap a LOT, esp. at the campus technology store (TigerTech). Sometimes they had days where you'd get a free "prize" if were you seen on campus wearing your "Apple t-shirt." And they have a LOT more apple products at the store than PC or Microsoft. It's a deal-contract issue, not popularity.

And I don't recall exactly, but I think the PC and Microsoft laptops at Tigertech were quite a bit more expensive, whether intentionally by Apple and/or Tigertech to discourage buying of PCs, than the Apple ones. There was also a bigger selection of Apple computers.

Simply speaking, the "market" on my campus for computers and tech. shit wasn't exactly competitive between the two brands. Apple had an artificial advantage because of certain product deals with Mizzou, I'd assume.
