  • im making my macbook mini (mac netbook) from a msi wind u100. i will eventually mod the back with an apple logo (that lights up just like macbooks)

  • Even though this is almost 2 years old I must comment on it because recently I bought a used Apple ibook G4 running Leopard. I didn't want to spend $1000 on a new macbook when I only wanted something portable to take with me so I can do school work when I'm on the go. It performs very well for what I use it for. Watching youtube videos on it can be very choppy sometimes, but I don't use it for that purpose that often. No built in camera but don't need that feature so it works for me

  • he reminds me of the great khali

  • Netbooks are underpowered, definitely. They use cell phone tech parts. They are just small small little laptops that connect to At&T service to serf net anywhere. ITS JUST FOR SURFING NET, and it's no better than a crappy cell phone. An iPhone is much better at internet, and it doesn't require AT&T. It can run through wi-fi.

Netbook: It's not a real personal device, (it's a web device) and shouldn't have been created.

At least the iPad is better at something when compared to other things.

  • @rifall i disagree with that... on low powered netbooks running snow leopard the devices run extremely well. they connect to wifi, ethernet, and 3g networks. i have the iphone 3gs and i hate it for surfing the web. i like the idea on netbooks (maby not apple ones but any netbook) they are small portable and most can play simple games quite well. plus netbooks get much better battery life than my iphone and are larger with keyboards webcams and trackpads. call me crazy but i like netbooks alot

  • @bestpctips netbooks seem to be getting better, but a smartphone can still surf the net a lot better (except blackberry from what I've seen). If you want to play games, you shouldn't be getting a netbook. As far as I can see, netbooks are for the poorest of the poor.

  • @rifall i own a gaming notebook (asus g60vx) and i like it but the battery life sucks and it gets very hot (like burning my skin off by the vent) and im getting a netbook for going to friends houses and road trips because of the battery life. i am putting snow leopard on it though which i have heard is faster on some netbooks than windows. and as for netbooks being for "the poorest of the poor" i disagree with that but thats just me

  • In my point of view, netbooks where made for the net, hense net-books.

Overloading it with pictours is not my kind of idea.I have a busbi micro USB stick which goes on my netbook and I keep data on that as it's only 8mm thick

  • Wow, well done. Good prediction:)

  • are you sying that you hate netbooks after trying only one netbook, or have you tried anymore? i have 3 netbooks for different jobs and have no trouble with them, and one is linux. because they ARE small, they take up less room then laptops.

  • Apple doesn't produce netbooks because they aren't expensive enough.

  • i padddddddddddd <3

  • Apple doesn't need to make a netbook because they make the MacBook air. That is Apple's solution to netbooks.

  • The rummer is Apple is going to have a full touch mac book. Yes no buttons and a full iphone plug in simulator which will look like a widget. Price I don't know but Verizon is At&t are ready to move on it

  • it's called rthe newton

  • I'd buy a $600 dollar apple netbook. If it ran snow leopard and had at least a 40g hard drive. But the reason i like apple is high quality. They sell more macbook pros then macbook whites which seems to indicate that most customers feel the same way. So i don't see why Jobs doesn't want to lower the quality of Apple products. The thing about apple is they have software for the macbook air that let's you use disc drives wirelessly for software. That would be awesome for a netbook.

  • im guessing its gonna be a touch screen iMac, similar to the Dell All in One

  • - edit* sorry I mean the speculation over the company producing touch screen panels.

  • there is no point in apple doing anything to netbooks, since invidia alrdy made a nettop wich will become a netbook later on or alrdy is.wich can run nice things.cod on full graphics.now that is cool.

  • @cruzz903 Call of Duty. Lolz. I hate people giving praise to Microsoft for a game they didn't make.

  • Very interesting topic. The netbook will fit the nich between the iTouch and the Notebook. So the primary user needs are 1) mobility and 2) web content/interactivity. Customers will use the product lounge in their living rooms or cafes.

  • The product attributes have to be small / lightweight, fast boot up shut down, low power consumption. Keeping the size down to the size of the standard iMac 20/24 keyboard would be ideal with a monitor size of the same dimensions would also be ideal (i.e., 270 mm x 25 mm x 115 mm). They source the current iMac keyboard components to keep costs down. Thanks for posting this video.

  • I agree

  • awesome video!!! 10 stars and subscribed!!!!

  • Apple keeps saying they won't put out something for <$500. Fine. I'll be happy to pay $1000 for a smaller MacBook that is almost as powerful. The tablet would be fine too, if you could bluetooth a portable keyboard to it, but Apple please. i hate lugging this thing around. the word is SMALL.

  • There's a bigger difference between 12 and 13 inches than between 15 and 16 inches, but a vaio p series style macbook would be nice... if they reinvented the macbook as a new netbook

  • Eee PC 901 is shit. Complete waste of money.

MSi WIND is the way to go.

  • netbooks are made with NO memory it seems... DUH it will freeze if you put a bunch of SHIT on it...

  • i hate you suck a lollypop

  • your african

  • No offense, British people sound funny to me. I mean, Im American.

  • yes but European people are smart and don't use slang and don't like rap music

  • I don't listen to no rap music. They still sound funny

  • Freud, the same thing applies to us British listening to Americans.

  • OK, cool

  • Apple already made a semi attempt at a Netbook and its called the MacBook Air... it does all the things Netbooks do, but its just a bit bigger. if they just duplicated the Air and made it a 10 inch display as opposed to 13 inch, and geared it specifically for internet apps, they've got their netbook.

  • its also 4x the price of a netbook

  • its also 4x better than any netbook ... regardless... they have a design etc. they just need to do what they did on the Air with a smaller display.

  • my point is that its wouldnt be considered a netbook its to much money and its to big

it may be thin but thats it

  • I have to disagree with you. I have an Asus Eee PC 1000H netbook. 10.1" display. I dual booted XP and Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.04 on it, and XP boots up in 35 seconds. Ubuntu boots up in 20 seconds. I have never had ANY problems with it. t runs every application I have downloaded, and has never had a problem. You probably had a bad experience with that one in particular, maybe a non-working piece of hardware. Did you contact Asus for a replacement/fix?

  • did u download i tunes

  • Netbooks are awesome, tablets fail.

  • What a fag man, you cant use the xrandros os and say that netbooks suck. You piss me off man, really if your a tecnonerd or whatever you said, you would use your brain and install a linux made for the eee, I use eeebuntu and honestly I wont use it as my primary computer, but is more than twice as fast as xrandros and I haven't had a crash yet. (I am one hell of a poweruser, and it works GREAT) You piss me off when you buy something and say it sucks, and you obviously didn't do your homework.

  • Yeh If They Do Release A "Apple Netbook" It will Be Really Overprices Like All There Other Products....I Cant Really Imagine Apple Releasing There Own Netbook..

  • Yea the netbook should be in the 8-10 inch range. And it's probably gonna be all touch screen.

  • I never could understand the Macbook Air other than it looks kind of cool. It's not a netbook, it's not ultra portable. It's essentially the size of a Macbook, just thinner and that just doesn't matter. The Macbook is very thin as it is.

If you travel much the appeal of a netbook's size is extremely clear.

Apple is behaving like they've been blindsided by netbooks, which is probably why they are saying such weird things.

  • the Macbook Air was the thinnest laptop that was out at that time

  • "These go to eleven"

  • I can't guess what Apple will do, but their comments are BS right now. They don't have to make a $400 one, they can charge $700 if they want and just say "it's better". The cheapest Macbook is $1000 so clearly they could strip out the CD etc to get to that price point.

I have an MSI Wind and it runs GREAT. And: I have OSX on it. The preinstalled XP looked clean, but by installing OSX I was able to use my Time Machine to copy my apps over (including IM configurations, etc) a huge time saver.

  • i dont want to see a mac netbook. if they did, i'd want to see a multitouch tablet like you said which would revolutionize the game. but to be honest, wen we're out of this recession i dont think people will really want a netbook. they're just gonna want their macbook. its really the ideal size for a portable consumer notebook. and if you want more portability then you save up for a macbook air (which i hope they upgrade soon.. long overdue.. and lower the price would be nice to). thats my take.

  • i really like the way you think thinks through. you have great logic

  • i think the apple netbook will be a tablet and i will get one

  • I agree with this guy that netbooks suck the only good one is barely even a netbook its called the asus n10j compared to any other netbook, it is great specs: 320gb SATA 7200rpm 2gb ddr2 Nvidia 9300m 256mb vram 1.3mp webcam bluetooth fingerprint scanner it has great components but is bottlenecked by the intel Atom 1.6gHz, so i Overclocked it to 2.1gHz :) before i OC'd it, it could still run cod4 and fallout 3 fine after i OC'd it, it runs them at higher settings only bad thing is price
  • netbooks do suck- can barly watch movies, etc, cannot design good quality movies or even laggs alot when you doing more than 2 things at once.

  • Does anyone consider the Macbook Air Apple's answer to the netbook?

  • no its an ultra portable

  • The MacBook Air Is considered an ultra portable notebook. A Netbook usually has much lower specs & has a smaller screen. Plus Netbooks are much less expensive that Ultra Portables.

  • nah. 13inch? kinda falls into the category of a laptop.

  • Linus (the Linux based OS) that came with my Acer Aspire One was awful, and XP runs quite smoothly. At the moment I have dual-boot to Mac OS X and Windows on it, and I think it copes admirably.

  • I think it will be a mini macbook unibody with tochscreen 10''

  • I'd love to see an apple tablet but to make it an oversized Ipod touch/iphone would be a joke. Wheres my photoshop and aperture.

  • wow. good logic man..

  • Yup netbooks, low priced, cramped keyboards. Just can't see Apple making a product like this. I see Apple making some kind of larger iPhone type device, a tablet.

BTW I got a netbook as well, an Atom 1.6GHz powered Acer One A150. Wasn't happy when it was running Windows, yes it was very slow, and somewhat unreliable.

However I've got Ubuntu Netbook Remix GNU/Linux on it now, it's a totally transformed machine. It's fast, downloads things quick, totally reliable, use it all the time.

  • I definetly think they should come out with the tablet that runs an OS. such as those videos you've seen. Being touchscreen tablet that runs as a netbook is a great idea. I have a macbook aluminum and would give it up to get a cheaper laptop or should I say netbook. If apple is making a touchscreen netbook or tablet then I'm buying it for sure.

  • Comment removed

  • its noo surprise that ur G4 cube is better....

  • If Apple made a netbook they would probably price it to at least a $1000 or more seeing that Macs are generally overpriced to begin with.

  • naaa man, if they made a Netbook they'd price it to a price of a low end PC laptop ($500 mark)

  • that would be almost impossible cause their base priced product costs $599.

  • i would really want an apple tablet, that would be so awesome!

  • i think they woldnt make a netbook, they are not moving. I love the idea of a mac tablet i think loads of people would get it, hey they got the iphone. i think the mac tab would look like a 10" model of the macbook screen but about as thick as the main part with a keyboards similar to the iphone. THe only thing is that it would be difficult to make it ergonomically designed

  • ...As far as I'm concerned, for the tasks I want a netbook for, there's nothing Apple could bring to the genre that would make for a more attractive device - and their version will probably be twice as expensive.

I honestly don't see why a touchscreen netbook would be better than a traditional one, and Apple never use technology just for the sake of it... I guess we'll see in June!

  • Dude...

I think you're pretty much spot on in your assessment (particularly about OS X being the best OS on the market!!) and it certainly looks from the rumours like Apple's netbook is going to be a touchscreen device like an oversized iphone. I have just placed an order for a Dell Mini 9 which I am led to believe runs OSX astonishingly well - it's geekbench score under OSX puts it somewhere between an old G4 Powerbook and a G5 iMac - and for £250!

  • ROFL - F all of this nonsense let's revolutionize this.

  • netbooks are nice, but running at 800 mhz is too slow for a netbook. once the 9400m ion comes out, that is going to be awesome.

  • if u want hackintosh msi wind FTW!

  • if Apple release a netbook running a full version of OS X they would be basically cannibalizing their Macbook /MB Air sales. Its a shame though I bought an Acer Aspire One to run along my IMac for travel and theres just no comparison, OS X is the best commercially available OS.

  • OS X is the best commercially available OS.....you pretty much got spot on, by saying that. yes i used for a month a mac and a windows pc at same time, one laptop one desktop....windows just too time consuming. in my opinion. thanks for commenting !

  • True man true. oh and thanks for the videos, great job keep them coming!

  • yes I have both a Mac Laptop and a PC desktop and my Mac of course out runs my pc wich is less then a year old and my macbook is 2 years old PC crashes and enternet explorer sucks.

  • well i cant see why not apple shouldn't be making a Netbook, considering:

    Their uni-body

    Multi-touch

and especialy Snow Leopard, which would be perfect for a low powered netbook because its "light" and it draws power directly from the processor :)

    fingers crossed!

  • lenovo s10 are good as well

  • I don't know what this guy is talking about, he may have had "one off" problem with his Asus 901. I have a 901 and it has Windows XP (there still is a Linux version availible) with a 1.6ghz dualcore atom CPU, not the 900mhz singlecore celeron that this guy had. It is rock solid and no problems with the card reader. It also easily plays DVDs from my PC over WIFI network and HD video without the video jumping. You will be supprised over what it can do, I've heard that it can run Vista pritty well.

  • its not dualcore, atom processors are just single core.

  • They may not be dual core, but they are hyperthreaded. They show up as 2 CPUs in Windows Task Manager, whereas MacOSX has no support for hyperthreading.

  • We already have a netbook, the iPhone and iPod Touch!!!!

  • uhm... no, thats a Smartphone and a iPod...

  • did u listen to him explain what a netbook is? because the iphone is a phone believe it or not

  • if that was a netbook, i would be surprised, because with real netbooks you don't have to use your finger to move web pages all over the place

  • Netbooks are slow, tiny and hard to use! The iPhone and iPod Touch are fast and are very easy to use! Feature wise, netbooks are very limited in programs and the ones it does have don't work! I have an Asus eeepc and it doesn't boot properly and when you launch two applications at once it crashes! The iPhone and iPod Touch have the App Store which has an infinite amount of things to do! Then basic things like internet browsing works and fast! It does the same thing and more!

  • Yeah but the iPod touch is an MP3 player, not a netbook, same goes for the iPhone, which is a phone

  • If its under 1000 dollars and runs leopard or snow leopard, then i am definitely buying one!

    5/5 and subscribed :)

    keep it up :D

  • for me if apple made a netbook that ran proper os x then i would be very likely to buy it. i'm looking at netbooks at present, as can't justify spending loads on a new laptop (my old one is ok, but isn't exactly portable).

if apple release a netbook running a version of iphone os then i really couldn't see myself getting it. i want a netbook to run things like ms office etc, so a watered down version just wouldn't cut it for me or possibly many others.

if they get spec / price right... :D

  • That's not how apple do it :P if they release a full OSX Netbook with good specs you know it will cost over £600 ( $800 )

  • BOOORING!

  • I reckon a tablet would be awesome, I'd buy it. But to be honest I don't know if it would be a good business decision. I don't represent the typical market and I just can't see regular people buying a tablet.

I'm still kinda expecting Apple to come out with something revolutionary. A game changer in the same way the iPhone was. It could be a tablet, but if they implement the user interface in a reolutionary way it could be incredible.

  • I just got a BENQ Joybook U101 for my girlfriend with an Atom 1.6 GHz processor and 1 GHz of RAM. Running XP it actually flies, it's fast enough to run MS Office, use the web, stream movies and tonnes of other stuff. I'm really impressed to be honest. If I had smaller hands (like my girlfriend) I probably wouldn't mind the cramped keyboard either. Hook it up to a 24" LCD and an external keyboard and suddenly you have a very cheap system for mainstream users.

  • To be honest in terms of processing power I think netbooks can serve the purposes of the vast majority of computer users. Unless you're editing video or doing numerical analysis or 3D design then I don't see the need for more computing power than a netbook can provide anyway, which means for the vast majority of users a netbook is not underpowered.

The real issue in my view is the screen size and cramped keyboard, although if you get to 12" then that's not reall yan issue either.

  • Apple should not make a netbook, they can't keep the prices down enough to arouse many people. The price for an Apple netbook would be something like $500, and for that kind of money buy a real laptop and buck up. Like Ozzy 910 said, buy a Samsung NC10 because they have done it right. Also, the Asus netbook (with the 9300M), not the EEE. The bottom line is Apple can not make a product for the masses, people would buy such a product but it wouldn't be revolutionary enough for many people.

  • I don't see a netbook coming out. I think that the 10 inch touch palettes apple bought is for a tablet. Apple would allow users to pair bluetooth devices (keyboard, mouse, headset) to the tablet, but for on the go, they would have a touch keyboard similar to the iphone touch keyboard.

  • if u gona get a netbook i will stick with the acer aspire and the hp

  • Netbooks are generally cheap too and Apple really doesn't do cheap.

So I think our best hope is for some tablet internet device, kind of like a big screen iPod Touch. Hopefully it will run a version of OS X and have at least one USB port.

I'm betting whatever they do the price point will be around 700 to 800 bucks.

  • I think its fair to argue, the introduction of an Apple Netbook. Its becoming a large share of the portable computer market, Acer is soaring in the charts with the Aspire one, which i might add, its cool, but i mean i made one mistake in the source code in customizing it and well it no longer turns on.

    See below

  • I read an article awhile ago and apple said the netbook said 500$ is too cheap and junk, said if it gets released, it would be 600$. how would get a netbook for 600$. Xandros sucks, and the 9400m is coming out and that should be enough for netbooks and maybe dual core

  • Give the MacBook Air a 7 or 8 inch screen then you have a netbook lol,i think if they are going to come out with a netbook it will look like a scaled down MacBook Air. But, un-like most, if not all netbooks on the market it will have a decent processor, 40 or 60gig Solid State Drive, i think it would take netbooks to the next stage. I don't think they will release a tablet, if i was working for apple i would make an application for the iPhone and include it into the next major firmware update!

  • i would buy a small mac net-book if they make one 4.

willing to pay apple price for apple quality!!

  • Never going to happen.

If you want a small MacBook they've already made the air. ;p

  • man u should get a samsung nc10 VERY good net book

  • At this point I think the Macbook air is the closest Apple is going to get to a "netbook" and at 13" and 3 pounds its hard to see why you would need something smaller.

That being said, if Apple did make a netbook with say a 10" screen a 1.86 Ghz core 2 duo , 2 gigs of RAM and a 120 GB HDD running Snow Leopard I would love to have it. But I think they would price it out of reach.

  • yeah sbow leopard would kkill it

  • Fit in your pocket??? What netbooks are you talking about?

  • :/ there is only one netbook......

  • i should define pocket, as in perhaps a jacket pocket, as a lot of businessmen carry it, that way. the hp mininote 2133 is a good example, even the asus eeepc, the original models.

  • sony vaio p series

  • He has pretty big pockets

  • I've wanted a tablet and got my hopes up for one since 2007. Hopefully that's what they work. Hopefully thy release one at the event on the 24th with Snow Leopard.

  • when is the next apple event?

  • march 26 i think... im not sure

  • In my macworld mag it quoted SJ saying "We cant make a computer less then $500 without it being a piece of junk"

    This isn't happening, ever.

  • This sounds like it came from the same place that silly iPhone Nano came from

  • another biased apple person who wants credit from apple....

  • i doubt apple will make a netbook until they really take off. right now they not really popular.

  • Yo thanks for mentioning me dude, its a real honor!

  • you lucky shit lol

  • I agree, If Apple does make a Netbook it would be totally different than the rest of the pack. For starters Price. I can't see them releasing a $350 or $400 computer. They just don't do that. I'm estimating the Price would be at the least $500,probably more around $600 or $700. However, i feel like it would be well justified because it will probably be something far superior to anything else out there. As far as the tablet, i just dont see Apple entering that market.

  • maybe

  • I'm sure it will look similar to the VAIO P and costs the same. $900

  • ahhhh the vaio p, i love the design, i REALLY WANT ONE...lol. but i know its pretty expensive, and is slow. i think ill rethink netbooks, once dual core atom processors are out.

  • If they do release one... its an Apple Newton moment!

  • if apple made a netbook it would cost $600.00

    or $750.00

  • does anyone think its ok to put XP on a an acer aspire one with an 8gb hard drive an 512mb ram?

  • i wouldnt, id make sure i hae at least 1GB RAM, then install windows.

  • Well it will work, but it's going to be rather painfully slow to use. My own Acer One is a 512Mb but with the 120Gb HDD. Plus that 8Gb SSD is going to rather cramped with XP.

Give Ubuntu Netbook Remix a go, you can try it from a USB stick. If you like what you see, installing takes about 15 minutes, everything works.

It's quick, gives longer battery life than when running Windows, and from my experience of it, considerably more reliable than Windows running on the Acer One.

  • apple is not going to release a netbook, that would be absolutly dumb. the macbook air is the "little" laptop from apple, there will be no smaller macbook.

  • NetBooks are a waste, Just get a macbook and iphone.

  • i hope apple DOESN'T make a Netbook

  • ugg xandros try a different os and see if you see a difference. Im running windows 7 on my netbook and it runs like a champ.

  • the macbook air is a netbook

  • lol Adrian I also have the 901 in posting on it right now

  • good.lol. glad ur having a good experience, perhaps when atom processors get dual core, ill reconsider the whole netbook idea.

  • i think they should like the new macbooks but smaller and less powerful that seems more likely to me

  • Tablet, no. Netbook, no. Netbooks are useless piles of crap and they run modern OSs sluggishly because of the Intel Atom processors and low RAM. Tablets are too overpriced and they have no real use at all other than eye candy and time-wasting.

  • not refering to apple and windows and leopard etc etc. tablets do have a real use....in the medical field., already being tested and could be the future of patient records on the go, for busy doctors doing ward rounds, in the hospital.....just an idea.

  • Tablet Yes, netbook No. netbook is never going to happen. its silly and rubbish. tablet running the full osx priced near the mac mini will be a hit. I will get it

  • i think a tablet is reaching in terms of keyboard; digital keyboard is just a little too obnoxios for me, i need that phsyical touch; now minded people won't be typing so much on a netbook they need to incorporate some sort of phsyical keyboard; pullout maybe would be cool

  • Netbooks are cute, that's it . lol

  • Since every mac these days comes with the "Remote Install Mac OS X" app, I'd say its certainly within the relm of possibility Apple could make a netbook.

  • i Bought a lenovo S10 and i put OSX on it works great 100%

except for ethernet there is no driver yet runs 10.5.6 and is great :P

  • i have tryed installing mac osx on my pc heaps of times

but it always fails after install at apple logo

  • If Apple just lowered the price of the Macbook Air to that of, say, the Mac Mini, then you'd have a similar thing to a netbook, but a better OS.

  • ye thats a good idea.

  • the 901 only comes with the 1.6ghz atom, and mine is speedy enough to even run a few old games (i.e. age of mythology halo 1 and so on) if you had 900mhz processor it was the shitty celeron in the 701/900

  • ahhh i c, so the atoms may be better then i think, ye ill have to do some more research on the atom, i heard there gonna be dual core soon.lol.

  • LOL Blah blah blah funny hm you made me rethink getting a Netbook.

  • Apple isn't known for coming up with ideas on the spot, and placing a new product that they think will do well in the market.

These guys are Engineers, they perfect the situation until they know immediate success will be achieved. They know that the products out there are appealing to the basic consumers, so when they come out with their revolutionary design / functionality, they blow everyone out of the water.

  • you tell them ! :d

  • Take large memory cards with you on holiday, organise when your back!

  • ye i know.lol. its just i use sony, the cards arent cheap. i do plan to move to SD card cameras, cannon nikon etc. but yep ur right !

  • Honestly, I use my iPhone for everything I would ever need a netbook for.. Checking email, surfing the web, etc.

  • yep, i agree, the iphone is apples netbook.

  • I have the EEE PC 7 with 4 gig HHD, 512 megs of ram, 7inch screen, 800mhz celeron processor running Xandros. I paid 299.00 when it first came out. Its ultra protable for basic computing needs. That alone pays for itself. Its definately strictly a basic of basic computer. Its not good for multimedia functions but it will do for browsing the net, doing word docs, and other simple computing needs.

  • Tablet as a netbook? Are you nuts? They can't make a thin regular laptop with medicore specs and hardly any hardware connectivity without it costing almost $2000.00. How are they going to make a thin ultra portable working touch screen tablet computer for less than a $1000.00? I think you apple fanboys have been so fooled for so long you will dream up anything to make Apple a legend in your own minds.

  • there is two ways, i see apple bringing in the product. i can see them SAY, that WHY WOULD U WANT A NETBOOK, WHEN YOU CAN HAVE THIS TABLET, OK YES, ITS MORE EXPENSIVE BUT ITS PORTABLE AND DOES MORE. i cant see apple making a netbook and having it cheap, i can see them brining in a substitute product, thats better, and expensive. im not sayin, they will bring this tablet, and make it cheaper. im saying they will give a new product. but yes i agree, that apple need to bring there prices down.

  • Yeh, coz I want a Mac, but... well, I can't even afford a Mac Mini at lowest possible specs... :(

  • I also agree with everything you are saying drbuk net books sucks I all most bought one before I bought my Unibody Mac Book I am so happy that I didn't

  • I would love an apple tablet but a netbook would be cool

  • The Imac was the "netbook" of desktops in its first conception. A cheaper or economical way to browse the I-nternet. But over the years it has become Apple's main product as a desk top computer. I think they need to make a desk top that is CPU oriented that can be upgraded like a PC that is not Mac Pro costing thousands. Far as netbooks, they have one, its called Mac Book Air. Apple cannot make a product without it costing a lot.

  • DRBUK,

I agree with everything you're saying. Apple is known for amazing design, and premium products. It's being run by geniuses in the field. I'm sure they have been thinking about the tablets/minis, but because they're Apple, they have to make sure they're getting it right. I remember when the iPod first came out, and how perfect it was after waiting so long for a mobile entertainments piece.

In conclusion, these guys have to be on top of it already, they're Apple, at the top of their game.

  • I love my netbook

  • Apple already has a netbook, its called the iPhone/iPod Touch :)

  • i will agree 100%, nice one !

  • no, its called the Mac Book Air and it cost too much and its useless.

  • the macbook air, is not a netbook, is the LENOVO X300 a netbook ? NOPE, and its competing in the same class as macbook air, have u heard the lenovo x300 being talked about, advertised as a netbook ? and thats pretty expensive too. both the lenovo and macbook air, serve a purpose, if you cant see the purpose, ur not the user. to me, there useless, i dont need them, to someone else, they have a purpose.

  • i think the Lenovo x300 sports higher specs than a mac book air and it also has full connectivity and optical drive which makes it a full functioning computer. Please don´t compare air´s limited un-upgradeable specs to a real computer. Thats like me saying this EEE pc i am typing on is comparable to a Mac Book.

  • yes, agreed, the lenovo x300 has better specs, but taking another argument, what do u describe as a netbook ? i mean , yes a system for basic things, but i thought they were also smaller in size. the macbook air isnt, its full 13inch screen. i know ur gonna say that the air is just a bigger netbook, in sense its big, but cant do much.....u could say that.lol. i could see the angle you can take. i dont think the air is amazing, i think its got plenty of room for improvements.

  • The Mac Book Air is the definition of what netbook is. Yes, it has a bigger foot print but it ¨utra portable¨, for argument sakes because its so thin. Apple just managed to over price it thats all. The air should not cost more than $800.00.

  • yes i will agree, that the price is too much, i mean, i guess the custom intel chip and custom motherboard, may have cranked the price up, but i mean it is using intel core 2 duo, and not atom or anything similiar. i mean, i can see the high price, but for the hardware it has, the price is too much, i mean macbook seems more sensible. good point !
