@Batinthebelfry7 Thanks! It has always been my favorite of my musical "children." I'm still working hard to bring you the full-length version of the short film.
The original version of the waltz is just over 6 minutes long and features a slow, creepy introduction and more sections, including a xylophone solo somewhere in the middle. The finished animated version should use most, if not all, of the original Funhouse Waltz.
The Funhouse Waltz and many of my other orchestral works are in my Online Music Library found on my website. The Library was intended for film-makers and television producers, but you are free to check it out even without any media credential. YouTube frowns on putting web addresses in comments, but you can see the address in the opening of the trailer. Once inside the Music Library, go to the section marked "Dark Classics."
Yes you can download the 2005 recording of The Funhouse Waltz as an mp3 at my website. It is not yet released for sale, since I may re-record parts of it for the final version of the short film, depending on how shooting goes. I composed the original (1995 version) with visions of classic funhouses in my head, but no real idea about how to create an animated funhouse. So some of the "episodes" within the waltz may change before I finish.
Yes, I wrote The Funhouse Waltz in October of 1995 for a Halloween party. I recorded the first version the day that I wrote it at Sound Asylum Studios in Pasadena. That Halloween, when I put on the recording, the party suddenly stopped and everyone began waltzing. It was incredible to see people in their best Halloween finery spinning to my music.
The inspiration had always been the Funhouses of my childhood, though I owe a bit to Strauss, Schoenberg and Queen.
Wow! Cool and creepy. I especially liked the underlighting. Very "Nosferatu" (the original). I also liked the panning transitions and the seamless, dream-like quality they created. A lot of work must have gone into producing almost three minutes of stop-motion. Looking forward to seeing what's next!
This is awesome!!!

You and Tim Burton should get together and collaborate on a project or two.
Awesome.

The Funhouse Waltz was produced and directed, designed, built, photographed and animated by Carvin Knowles.
Be sure and check out Carvin's Funhouse contribution to Cadbury "Unleash the Goo" film festival.
