  • This is awesome!!!

  • This is the most demented piece of music I've ever heard. It's perfect.

  • omg I have a raging boner 5/5 !

  • I went to your website, and I love, love, love the full version!

  • @Batinthebelfry7 Thanks! It has always been my favorite of my musical "children." I'm still working hard to bring you the full-length version of the short film.

  • Great job! Almost a bit like christmas too ;)

  • I Love this! Great work!

  • I Love this! Great job!

  • This is AMAZING.

I love the feeling to it.

  • great!

  • for once this creepy thing is too much for me.. it sssaaccrreeedd me!

  • Love the animation and the music!

  • One girl from my dance studio did a solo to this. But it had only the creepy sounds and it was longer. It was really cool! She did an acro dance!

  • The original version of the waltz is just over 6 minutes long and features a slow, creepy introduction and more sections, including a xylophone solo somewhere in the middle. The finished animated version should use most, if not all, of the original Funhouse Waltz.

  • Do you know where I kind find that version that you mentioned?

  • The Funhouse Waltz and many of my other orchestral works are in my Online Music Library found on my website. The Library was intended for film-makers and television producers, but you are free to check it out even without any media credential. YouTube frowns on putting web addresses in comments, but you can see the address in the opening of the trailer. Once inside the Music Library, go to the section marked "Dark Classics."

  • Can you get the song to play on the website you mentioned and can I buy it anywhere?

  • Yes you can download the 2005 recording of The Funhouse Waltz as an mp3 at my website. It is not yet released for sale, since I may re-record parts of it for the final version of the short film, depending on how shooting goes. I composed the original (1995 version) with visions of classic funhouses in my head, but no real idea about how to create an animated funhouse. So some of the "episodes" within the waltz may change before I finish.

  • You and Tim Burton should get together and collaborate on a project or two.

    Awesome.

  • very nice, did you do the video too?

  • The Funhouse Waltz was produced and directed, designed, built, photographed and animated by Carvin Knowles.

Be sure and check out Carvin's Funhouse contribution to Cadbury "Unleash the Goo" film festival.

  • Sorry, sometimes I get so used to writing my own ad copy, I just naturally write in the third person.

  • Carvin, this rocks mighty! Yea for Dark Carnival Tunes...

  • where can i get more music like this??? i bellydance and this music is like my signature thing, i just cant find more like this!

  • The best instrumental, circus theme I have ever heard! Excellent, excellent work! Carvin, you are an exceptional artist!

  • this is kick ass

  • Original music?

  • Yes, I wrote The Funhouse Waltz in October of 1995 for a Halloween party. I recorded the first version the day that I wrote it at Sound Asylum Studios in Pasadena. That Halloween, when I put on the recording, the party suddenly stopped and everyone began waltzing. It was incredible to see people in their best Halloween finery spinning to my music.

The inspiration had always been the Funhouses of my childhood, though I owe a bit to Strauss, Schoenberg and Queen.

  • I don't hear enough creepy carnival and/or circus music nowadays. You have my obligations.

  • Watch this in the dark.

  • scaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyyy

  • sure it is scary!!!! but cool

  • Fuckin awesome. I dig the creep factor and the chills this would bring in a 4D moviehouse. How EPIC would that be, eh?

  • This is great! Nice stop-motion! Great music! Truly an evil genius!!!

  • Looks great!

    Fred Baxter

  • Those clowns can visit me any time. :P

  • very cool...

  • intelligent and creepingly delightful

  • Wow! Cool and creepy. I especially liked the underlighting. Very "Nosferatu" (the original). I also liked the panning transitions and the seamless, dream-like quality they created. A lot of work must have gone into producing almost three minutes of stop-motion. Looking forward to seeing what's next!

  • trippy

  • spooooooky

  • Love the Jack in the Box bit. Well done Dr. Knowles.

  • This guy is a creepy genius.

  • Can't wait to see the full version. Cool in a creepylicious way!

  • Great lurching clowns!! I had to leave the lights on while I watched this - looking forward to the full treatment!
