This is a fine example of Bloomberg's vision for New York development at the expense of our communities. He claims to be concerned about the middle class and small business owners, yet his support for unfettered development is displacing the very constituents he claims to care about.
to all who are outraged at this arrogant destruction of our community, please come to the Bowery Alliance of Neighbors meetings and help stop this overdevelopment of our neighborhood
This hotel is beyond disgusting, but does the city care? The community fought this hotel with its many bars but failed to impress the brain trust in city government. And there are more hotels on the way to line the 3rd Avenue/Bowery corridor. This is what Bloomberg considers city planning.
Revenge only works for the rich: AC - firm grip on the obvious!
Gentrifying the inner city works in every city around the world because certain considerations have been taken. First being a plan that is inclusive of Manhattan neighbors. If you keep taking buyouts where does that end, on reservations?
no, he tried to buy out just the two women on the bowery. he didn't offer enough money so he had to build his hotel around them. i doubt peck moss has the money for the three tenement buildings worth of tennants. they don't even have the money for a soundproof wall.
Didn't the hotel owner / developer try to buy out the residents on this block? From what I understand, they didn't accept his offer. This is called revenge.
That's terrible! People really don't care about other people.
