I would love to learn how to play this game and be a dungeon master but the hand books seem like a lot to take in. Is there anyway to learn the basics and start a simple play group? Like start off small.
the best way is to find someone who knows how to play to teach you. The rulebooks are tough to comprehend... id say if you want to start off small, dont attempt to follow ALL of the rules. Use the basics... read the sample section of a game in the PH to get an idea
Yeah if you have a friendly group you will pick it up in a game or two, and then start asking the GM about how to be a dungeon master etc and then take in the book.
@twistedkid77 trying not to be an attention hog, but I can help you out. if you have the books, feel free to shoot me questions. (I know 3.5 which are cheaper anyway) also, my channel features videos about AD&D 1st edition, which I play. ask me questions.
It's simplefied, easyer to get started with and the DM's job is easyer. The only backdrop is, that they expect that you play with mini's (but beer lids with stickers work even better, strangly) Its allot like 3th but simplefied, if you make your own fluff.
Im about to start playing this with my friend, who i belive, has 1st and 2nd versions mixed together... can any1 tell me if that will be like whats shown in this video??
I got to ask man despite the risk of sounding like a freak or loser. Where did you get that Wizard outfit that's pretty cool actually. That and I'm looking for some good wizard props or gear to add to the role playing experience in my group and I generally role a caster. So if you could let me know or if anyone watching this could respond great. Anyway this was a fun and actually insightful film that I thought was creative and informative in teaching some people D&D without being too textbook.
believe us we are not worried about sounding the freaks r nerds. Just read the comments haha. The wizard outfit is custom made, so, sorry I cant help ya too much there. Thanks for the positive feedback though
Same. I was the leader Druid for 3 years in my group. :3 Then we had a fluctuating amount of 2-4 other girls and 1-4 boys throughout the three years I was with them.
Lol I love it. The awesome geeky-ness is too cool. And actually, a lot of (I'd guess 75% of the guys I've played with) the guys are a bit socially awkward. But to us gals with nerd fetishes, it makes no difference. I love a guy with a big package...of dice. And a library of books? Forget about it!
Do you get yourself off by flaming people on the internet? Does it make you feel cooler? Youre right. You are cooler. Youre a fucking badass. I want to be just like you when I grow up. Obviously, youre too good to even share the halls of a school with the likes of "us fucks". Maybe one day Ill be able to have the same amount if contempt for people unlike me as you do.
An I was one of said f"uckiing nerds" who went to school with a bunch of jocks and religious loonies. Geuss how many of the jocks live in trailer parks today. Geuss how many of loonies are in jail. Geuss how many D&Ders I used to know make six-figure salaries.
Bring me a md from the fridge ahahahahahaahah i laugh so hard

I used this video to learn my players the very basics for D&D (4th), Nice video
relo999 2 years ago
how is 4th compared to 3rd? i never thought anything was wrong with 3rd, 4th just feels like a way for Wizards to sell more rulebooks

4th edition makes for great kick in the door campaigns while 3.5 (in my opinion) is better for role playing

@Ieatbabyseals you should try AD&D, its the best of both worlds.

@simonedday 1st and 2nd edition? not really. your DM might be more mysterious and the rules less known. but that depends.

no wonder most of them r virgins - any sane girl would run for their life -
BoybandGurl 3 years ago
Actually I know lots of girls that would like to play the game, and every group I've been in has had at least 1 girl.
Girls can be nerds too, its just not seen commonly.
Knoxerboy101 2 years ago
ur right cuz at least there is probably about 1 girl for every 10 guys - good luck sharing :)

is this based on actual rules of the game. Like do people actually generally play this way?
Not the woods part--i'm guessing that's what people imagine when theyre playin i guess lol
justme32888 3 years ago
right, all the live-action stuff is what is being role-played in the basement... the dice-rolling and all that is really how the game is played
skystreak22 3 years ago
Haha, very well done. You did a nice job on the choreographing in the Melee fight.
