  • I had my baby at a birth center, so drugs weren't an option.

If I were at a hospital, I don't know what I would have done, but in retrospect, I only had just a little while left till my baby was born. But when you are in the middle of labor, you have no idea how much longer its going to be. That was the worst part I guess. But by the time you get to that point you should be pretty darn close! so just stick it out.

Make sure to tell the staff not to ask you for drugs. A doula might help.

  • Thanks! I really liked reading the hypnobirthing book. Its really reassuring. Positive thoughts are so imporatant. Just read as much as you can about natural birth! It will help. You can do it!!!!!!

  • hey there...thanks so much for posting this. i'm 27 weeks and am freaking a little knowing that this little guys HAS to come out now. my plan is to use hypnobirthing techniques (even though i have to finish reading the book!) to have a natural childbirth - it's just really a scary thing...but watching your video made me feel a little better and confirmed that i CAN do this. thanks! :)

  • Thank you for posting your vid. I'm about 29 weeks, and I'm getting more scared about the birth as it nears. You've made me feel so much more comfortable. :)

  • Aw! COngratulations! Its normal to be nervous! YOu have never experienced it before. Its just fear of the unknown. Maybe you can do some positive affirmations. Check into hypnobirthing. the cd's you listen to are awesome and help to ease anxiety about the birth. I wish you a Great and fulfilling birth!

  • Thank you. I'm really excited, and ready for him to be here. lol. I will definitely check out the hypnobirthing you suggested. May I ask you, did you give birth in or out of water?

  • Out of water. It wasn't really doing anything for me and i wanted dry land. everyone is different.

  • Thanks for this. Very well explained. I am a student midwife in my mid-twenties so I have lots of friends who are pregnant or planning these days and I get lots of questions. I'm always looking for good resources to point them to, and while they might not commit to reading any of the great books you have listed, a youtube video is perfect! It is nice to hear this from someone who is not a practitioner of any kind, just a normal person with experience and an opinion. Way to go!

  • This is awesome! Why don't women do this more often?! I mean actually giving an explanation/description of what giving birth is like! This is great for any woman who hasn't had children yet and would like to know something more about the natural way of giving birth.

I'm 20 and I must say that this is very informative to me as I want to have kids of my own one day and I'm already thinking of things like how and where I will have my kids so thank you very much megxdavies!!!!!

  • thank you. thank you so much! i hope it will educate women a bit about natural birth. Let them know its nothing to be afraid of. Good luck with your future family!

  • I know what you mean. More women should explain it with more confidence and not scare you. I could say my mom scare the shit out of me when she told me how natural birth felt like. But, if you just relax and learn breathing techniques giving birth should be a piece of cake.

  • I can't say that. It most likely will hurt but its something that you can handle. Its natural to be nervous about it, but women have been doing it for thousands upon thousands of years. you will do fine!

    goodluck

  • Have you heard hypnobirthing?

  • yes. took hypnobirthing classes while pregnant.

  • I am going to have my first baby in March and I am really nervous about the ride to the hospital becasue it is about 45 minutes to an hour. You said you had a long ride, wern't you scared that you were going to give birth in the car?

  • No, I knew i had time. But, i REALLY recommend the "emergency childbirth manual." everyone should learn what to do in such a situation. My next baby is going to be born "Unassisted" In most cases homebirth is safer than hosp., especially if you run the risk of having baby in the car. let me know if you need more info

  • honey, you explained everything exactly how i felt when i had my daughter.

  • OH good!

  • I THINK I was 21. hes about 15 months now. Already getting baby hungry, but i still haven't gotten a period yet- Isn't breastfeeding wonderful?! =) I would like to space our children out about 3 years, then adopt maybe 2 children. So many need loving families

  • This is great. Wonderful to hear it from a young mama! How old were you when you birthed?

  • i'll send you a message..

  • how does it feel when the baby comes out im 8 and a half months pregnant
