I heard rumours that they were making the remake from the angle that Freddy was actually innocent of the child murders - that they had the wrong guy. It seems as though the rumours were true, so that should give an interesting persepctive to this remake! this Freddy also does seem to be much darker than England. The girl seems to old to be Nancy though. I'm a huge Nightmare fan and was dreading this - but i'm looking forward to it now.

First of all, Freddy Kreuger was originally accused of kidnapping kid's and killing them. The police did not have proof, therefor, he did not go to jail. The parents decided to kill him themselves. Thats where the beginning comes into place. He gets burned alive, he comes back from the dead, and he kills whoever believes in him. If more people believe in him, he becomes stronger. If no one beleives in him, he gets weaker.

for me, the thing with remakes... its like cover songs, some people like to see/hear different takes on things we already like. for movies, the point of them is that they are things that we can relate to. and its hard to relate to them if they are outdated, we can relate to them more if they are modernised. especially horror films, hey are artificial experiences where we can be scared n go through a "traumatic" in a totally safe environment, theres no harm in remakes, the original still exists
