Just gave this a good listen, would you say the EBS valvedrive accounts for a lot of your tone? I am trying to justify spending 300 dollars on a pedal or just sinking the money into a real tube head.
It sure does. Im using it with Eden EN400, everything flat with just onboard compressor all the way up. Gives pretty much exact tone of "born to be wild" on my 60s jazz bass. Without it to get similar tone i had to fiddle with the semi parametric eq.
@VarykGerai I have a TC electronic RH450 which already has a tube emu in it, but I the "tube tone" as they call it doesn't have a very natural sounding overdriven sound so I keep it low so I still maintain the tube sound. I am looking for something to compliment my Swollen Pickle fuzz pedal. Thinking of an EBS distortion pedal or the Valvedrive... tempting......
Good job dude.

A big, greasy sound.

EBS is a fair compromise to the expensive tube pre on tube head..
I buy a tube head only after having been solid state head..

In my opinion EBS Valvedrive is a great pedal! I don't like tube head, I think it has too much "extreme" for my taste!
When I want to use a rock sound, I usually play with the EBS VD (I use it as pre) and it is a good compromise.
This is my philosophy XD
I think you should try it very well and decide whether to buy it!
