my favorite song... and from theirt best album in my opinion. Ahhh now I remember how I was always listening to their songs on my way to school. I didn't mind the long walk at all ;)
I know this song for about 6 years now. And for all this time, the call of the Black-throated Loon showed me the gate to my dreams. This sound will never leave my mind.
As I walk through the deserted forest the smell of burned thatch fills me with dread. I come into the clearing that I remember so clearly from my childhood to see all that I had ever loved burned to the ground. My family are all gone. I stand, no meaning left in my life, alone, pondering why I exist at all. And then...
TWO HUNDRED SCREAMING VIKINGS CHARGE OUT OF THE WOODS AND ENGAGE MY WAR BAND IN AN EPIC BATTLE OF GIGANTIC BEARDS AND INCREDIBLE MANHOOD!
@BertAtkin I initially thought it was larksong, but I looked that up and it didn't sound anything like it at all. I looked into it and the only thing I can find is the golden eagle. I don't know if it is, but it is the closest I seemed to get. The "eagle" cry always really moves me, it really helps to emphasize the feeling of desolation in that beautiful intro, don't you agree?
@666satanification666 The sound of the eagle seems to me to be at the start of "Haaska". But in "Jotunheim" it sounds like a Diver or loon. Moving all the same. Thanks for replying.
@MorbidJanette I think I should be thanking you? But I am nearly 43 years of age and I dont know what LULZ means. Please explain, sorry I'm getting old! ha ha.
@MorbidJanette It's a good thing. In other words, it made me feel rather jolly. Sorry this internet forum lingo is getting out of hand, I totally understand why you wouldn't know what the fuck that would mean. Haha.
It really says something about a band when literally NONE of these uploads I've gone through have more than 10 'dislikes'. That would be because it is difficult even for the countless youtube trolls to dislike such an amazing band as MOONSORROW. Cheers!
Moonsorrow can play circles around nightwish. they aren't even in the same caliber. Moonsorrow has got to be one of the most original and talented bands in all of metal and this song is a testament to that. Nobody can use so many different instruments so flawlessly and still make it sound metal. \m/ Definitely in my top three favorite bands
Listened though this song for the first time when i was taking the bus home today...Can't remember last time a song have given me such goosebumps.Love this tune! :D
Haista Vittu ! thankyou for the song it is soulfull. The best music has its roots in tradition, and theirs is a hauntingly lovely one. feel the snow beneath your feet, hear the woodlands turn and move around you. Ages Unfold...
Love the 1:38 - 1:40 bird sound that takes you back to 0:01 but with a sad-ish background tune :)
