umm my touch screen thing (volume) does NOT correspond with the laptops volume? fix for that? also i can you send me the download files for the drivers?
@kaviar14 The drivers are always updated via the Dell website, just go to dell site and select the type of pc. Once you get through all the menus, you will be presented with all drivers for the Acer Aspire 6920G.
So, I have a problem and im not sure if it's Windows 7 fault. Nonetheless, any help would be welcome. So, the problem is: my processor grade in the windows experience index went down to 3,4. Any tips?
I'm running windows 7 now on my 6920G for 5 months and I'm still satisfied. I'm using throttlestop and have no problems with games like bfbc2 etc. cinedash, tuba, all working
You probably have but just incase you dont make sure you get "THROTTLESTOP" .search in google for "acer 6920g throttlestop" and look for "The Acer ThrottleStop Thread" in the google search results .The acer 6920g suffers extremly from overheating, thnx to acer setting the heat trigger point laughably low and makes your cpu downclock ,making playing games a nightmare or encoding videos stuff like that.Throttlestop fixes that without throttlestop the acer 6920g is shite and runs crap.
@gnostical Thanks a lot for sharing that info man!. I had no idea about it. I have found the forum thread and downloaded the Throttlestop.zip just have to install it.
Also I did have the option on Windows 7 Ultimate to install 32bit or 64bit version, but I just thought I wouldn't be able to run all my 32bit programs.
@JasonDolan Make sure when you install throttlestop follow these instructions when you open it up > tick the box next to-chipset clock mod- then click options and tick start minimized and minimize on close then click ok then click TURN ON in the main window otherwise it wont work it goes red when its on and green when its off. You will also have to put it into your startup folder to make it run at startup as the program dosent have that option built in for some reason, so make sure you do that .
@gnostical So If i install the 64bit version will my COD 4 game still run ok?.
And to install the 64bit i will have to format and start again right? I don't think there is a way just to upgrade as such to 64bit. I'd need to format and install as new. What are the advantages of 64bit?
@gnostical I know more RAM, but this laptop only goes to 4GB so I would gain 1GB and how about the actual 64bit OS, does it not eat up more RAM to run?. I am just trying to figure, will my PC be faster as it is now with 3GB under 32bit or with 4GB under 64bit taking into account the OS on 64bit might eat up a little more of the RAM.
@JasonDolan It dosent eat up more ram ,but to be totally honest speed wise theres only a ball hair of a diffrence with the extra gig of ram i gained by using 64bit. If you paid for your win 7 operating system then there would be no way in hell you should change for the small and i mean small speed improvement.I changed to 64bit just because i could for free too see if the extra gig improved performance and just because i like to keep trying stuff to keep my laptop running at its best .
@gnostical I only just got the time to run ThrottleStop now :)) Sunday was a busy day. Ok, I ran ORTHOS and CPU was 100% until about 7 minutes, then it just dropped to 0.0 and I did this test many times and it heats up fast and drops!. I think the CPU throttles around 64 C but my room does have the heating on. I then ran the same test withThrottleStop enabled and it always stays at 100% on the CPU but the temp of the CPU can go up to 80 C and I stopped the test after 15 minutes.
@JasonDolan You can use RMCLOCK to lower the voltages thats what all acer 6920g users on the acer notebook forums where doing before throttlestop became availible.Even with throttlestop enabled I still use rmclock its great keeps the laptop running cooler with the lower voltage and throttlestop keeps cpu at 100% ,theres a turorial on the acer notebook forums.Search for "acer 6920g throttle fix" in google, first page tells you how to use rmclock.Takes about 5 mins to learn it if your pc savy.
@JasonDolan i had a problem with acer 6920g overheating and solved the problem. this is not voltage problem. it is radiator filled with dust. there is no air flow from fan to radiator because of dust. you have to take of the fan and after that take off heat pipe which is connected to radiator. for me it was full of dust. also you should change thermal paste on cpu/gpu (for me there was no thermal paste on those at all). after this maintenance the temperature of cpu dropped by 40C and gpu by 50C
@gnostical I will test upstairs in the cooler rooms later and see what results I get but thanks a lot for sharing!. I will definitely be using it now :) I did notice on encoding my videos it can take a long time and I'd expect it to be much faster. So will try encoding later tonight. As for 64bit OS, I will leave it for now. I'd rather have more than 4GB of RAM if I was running it. 32bit is fine for me on this laptop.
Got the same laptop nearly all the same as yours same ram 4gb and same Graphics card except mine has 2.2ghz T5900 processor, and im scottish aswell lol. I have windows 7 ultimate 64 bit on my laptop and everything works fine you can run all 32bit programs on it aswell if the prgram your using dosent have a 64bit version but most programs have 64bit versions so theres no need really.I took that vista shite off long ago when i first got it donkies ago,was using xp until win 7 came out to take over
@ekzotica I have uploaded a few. I filmed a Police helicopter today look for that video. Just uploaded it, so give it a few hours to process to 1920x1080 HD :)
