The "goofy glasses" thing is a solution waiting for a real problem. All of these glasses-free solutions are similar to or ARE lenticular and in my experience are inferior. Retinal projection technology will be what takes us to the next level in 3d AND pave the way for true VR. People are excited about glasses-free 3d until they actually see it side by side with glasses systems. And they assume there will be some magical innovation in it's future. Not very likely.

This was possible a long time ago. In the 1940's, it could have been done. There was actually a man whose name is Jacque Fresco and made a 3D cinema. But it could only be 3D for a 30º angle. He was going to make a full 3D version, but the company who hired him wouldn't pay until after he had finished the new version. Don't think this man is all about money, though, he needed money to build new things and help the world.
