  • Will this bring on the death of religion?

  • First of, you're totally right that singularity is comming, but who the f*ck wrote these text? I never saw so many stupid spelling mistakes in one short clip! What are poeple???

  • So you're saying in the future I'll be able to read the yellow font you've overlapped on those pictures?

  • really? you actually think we will be able to talk to robots and shit or be a robot? i think its more like a human transformation of consciousness

  • skynet

  • singularity could be a divide by zero, crash... peak oil

  • @walter0bz We could die out or escalate to greater levels of complexity. It depends on how much were willing to expand our consciousness.

  • @JNathanK2011 -

depends on energy available. if we get an energy breakthrough like fusion or orbital solar then its onward and upward, but i dont thinnk terrestrial renewables will power existing civilization let alone a singularity. although perhaps if we can't figur fusion out, the best way to solve it is to build AI to help :)

  • @walter0bz Check out the movie Thrive if you haven't. They go into detail about all the efforts to suppress free energy.

  • @JNathanK2011 - i've seen all this material - i dont beleive in surpressed free energy.

Social/Economic:- because, energy is more fundemental than money - those who had money would simply use the "free energy", and they wouldn't need to trouble themselves with the rest of us.

the social problems (heirachy/competition) are caused by competing for and rationing finite energy.

i think the complexity available (neg-entropy) is always finite & related to the finite energy available.

  • @JNathanK2011 - bear in mind 'free' doesn't just mean electricity bill. Free means unlimited. we pay money for energy because it is finite & rationed and the money can only transfer the right to use / benefit from finite energy.

there are some theories like the ablity to get electricity from the earths magnetic field but this is finite energy related to the van-alan belt, it's best we dont draw that down...

  • This video is close, but so far off. The singularity will be more along the lines of Terence McKenna's theories. Ever increasing novelty and complexity gives way to the next stage of evolution. Computers, massive amounts of people on the planet all living new life experiences, etc, will culminate into something else, but they themselves are not the end result.

It as a birth process, and the collective mind of humanity will become so diverse and complex that it will result in a united mind.

  • "emotion would be very hard, even impossible to copy"

who said that? its nonsense, actually the limbic system (some of the structures where most of the gamut of human emotions are processed in the brain) is fairly primitive by evolutive standards; lower, non sentient life forms also have emotions; its just another part of the brain; figure out the basic algorithms of how neurons work in unison, and you can replicate it all, improve it even

  • TRON

  • Whats the name of that song ?

  • The Brain wouldn`t ever surpassed the power that The Heart has.

  • @RubyCrimson Facts to back this up or just mystical ramblings?

  • @mathiastheok I saw where they made a triangle of Copper atoms bound together by one of Sodium in the middle, then surrounded that with a spherical cage of Carbon atoms to protect it from vibration, which Michio Kaku said is what's holding up quantum computing. By varying electrical inputs, the triangle varies its angle to represent six different logic states, enabling massively parallel processing like our brains do. Anyway, quantum computing's supposed to be a big leap, so there's that.

  • To reach "singularity" really depends on whether Humankind can avoid the onslaught of a global thermal nuclear holocaust BEFORE 2049, vaporizing 50% of the world's population into oblivion. I would say the odds are more so in favor for the latter than the former, and the subsequent consequences will most likely catapult the world back to a 13th century status, a Neo Dark Age, requiring another 700 to 800 years to regain what was lost.

  • @IAPETUSGIANTS who would be the participants in this? I find the chances more likely that the technology that will take us to the singularity to be a more likely disaster like biotech and nanotech.

  • What a sad shame there are so many misspellings in your beautiful video. Will singularity finally master spelling corrections?

  • @IAPETUSGIANTS I refuse to bow to proper spelling and grammar.

  • Me at 1150 years old, I remember when I used to be human, when the uncertainty of what would happen scared the crap outta you, but it was moments like that when you realised you were still alive. Now nothing can kill me apart from myself, and there is no fear in that, I remember playing games in God mode, it was fun for a short while, but soon became boring when I realised I couldn't lose. Maybe we mechanoids arn't so smart after all.

  • @andypmz07 I sometimes wonder what it would be like to be a supercharged mind capable of really anything that we could concieve now. it is very interesting to think about.

  • Will they only be as good as the programmers making them?

If that pack mule is where we are today - it will be a lot longer than 2049. Even this video, at 1:37 "Machine Scan" I think you meant "Machine's can" Yeah, Epoch 5 is a looong way out.

    Good conversation piece tho. Cheers

  • well fuck this i would rather die i mean i have a very good life but would yo want some one that is bad to live for ever :/

  • I hope I'm alive to see all the disappointed people.

  • The machines could process emotion, they would know when to feel it, when it's appropriate. But they couldn't FEEL it. Like we do in our chest when a woman cheats on us, or when our parents die.

  • emotion hard to copy? Please....

  • @skating1611 Agreed. It seems likely that emotions are a necessity for intelligence. In order for an intelligence operating in the real world to assign value to things-like it's chances for survival, or to reproduce, or whatever it finds important and worth pursuing-it must be emotional about it.Without what we call emotion-which ultimately seems to simply be assigning value to things-intelligence is deadlocked into inaction.

  • THE AGE OF GUNDAM !!!!!!!!!!

  • OH hell no! I guess the human race is gonna be screwed Terminator Style. Too bad I can't give a shit, since I'll still be alive. Damn!

  • It's in our nature to do this.

  • I hope UFO's come and take the cool people around outer space.

  • so basically terminator/skynet with a diplomatic side?

    i call shenanigans!!

  • Comment removed

  • Well I am not exactly sure where all this is going but i guess thats one of the exciting things about it. Mystery is lots of fun. I also have to ask what is the purpose of the Singularity too and what is the purpose for existance for that matter. So i become God of my own universe....ok then what. I think life is more than just becoming a God of your own universe. Its about love and what exactly love is...well thats a debate and a process of discovery that is infinite i would imagine...

  • RESISTANCE IS FU-TILE!

  • I'll be dead that's for sure

  • The singularity doesn't exist on this physical plain; it exist only as consciousness; the collective unconscious. The singularity is the point in time when the collective unconscious is woken up and connected. Right now we are becoming a singularity through violence and oppression; as can be clearly seen around the world today. I believe this singularity only last for a little while before the "big bang" happens; at which point change would happen throughout everything. that's how i see it.

  • many alien cultures admit to having outgrown their emotions and they tend to be collective consciousness, nonsexual, neither male nor female. With full knowledge of genetics one could make human - animal hybrids too. The computer is a binary matrix, it should be possible to eventually make an entire universe, and then step inside and become the gods of that universe.

  • @Phaedron777 so, do you mean we could perhaps even access and live INSIDE our vivid night-dreams & imaginations?..

  • Google will soon rule the WORLD its just like SKYnet......

  • All I can say is.... WE WILL MAKE DATA! YAY!! and he can fly the enterprise! :-)

  • Technology will create an anti-life away from its cosmic function. If your technology could recreate life it would be capable of seeing emotions and decoding them. All you can perceive are the effects of this reality of clay because your sciences is a product of thought and thought is a being who permeates the very fabric of existence. We once called ourselves masters but we realized through your existence that we had to assist on your gradual awakening, I can feel your yearning for freedom.

  • @atonjost when were we ever "masters" i still have to deal with piles on the toilet from lack of fibre lol......still shitting like the pigs......bring on new tech!

  • @3tangle3 You shit because you channel matterial substances which comes in your mouth and comes out through your rectum. Your body is connected to this material nature. The mouth is the electric part where the substance in its electric vibration winds up the body. The rectum is the magnetic part, the substances in their magnetic frequence overloads the body, just as in a confused and impatient mind. Use the heart, feel what you know. This is your true connection with the cosmos.

  • Consciousness produces matter. Matter is a vehicle to carry consciousness to the other universes. Computer will definetely be capable of scanning matter and replicating life forms through artificial means. The matter has some consciousness which will be scanned but this spark of life will earn for its source out of the artificial vessel. And those who opted out will come back to assist the evolution of that spark of consciousness kept in the clay. Nature loves everyone unconditionally.

  • For a robot or a machine or a plentiful amount of robots to take over humanity and any species, it must first have a reason. If it has a reason to take over a species, then it must have a goal. For them to reach that goal, it must have a motivation. For it to have motivation, it must learn emotion. For a robot or a synthetic machine to become self aware, it must also have the capacity to love...

    /fact

  • moores law is every 18 months, not every year, it used to be every year like 20 years ago but he revised it.

  • Merging with technology scares the living hell out of me. If it was just machines that could help us discover new things, but let us discover the things and let us build the machines I'd be happy. Otherwise, fuck it.

  • I think we have been gifted by our creator with the capacity to fathom the infinite; and yet only comprehend a finite fraction of that existence. So it's natural that we have tried for centuries to better understand the world around us. At best we can try by whatever means to understand the universe, but if we do not know the creator and his purpose, it will all be in vain. You must have purpose; without it, you can search galaxies for eternity and you will want more. Meet Jesus, he has answers

  • So... Does this mean we're getting flying cars or no?

  • "Are you ready to receive it?"

Only if you learn how to spell.

  • @bunkafashioncollege um that's spelled correctly

  • I find it odd that it says that emotion in to complex to copy when in itself emotion just a set of variables that can be manipulated just like anything else the problem with emotion is that of defining the variable... then emotive commands can be altered at whim

  • well hopefully ill be alive i jus wanna see it and can hopefully figure out a better way to merge

  • Well, if we had no emotions, then there wouldn't be a point in anything at all.

    That would sssuuuccckk.

  • I am the true representation of singularity and this is still a Nasa secret project.

  • Its not gonna happen all the sudden, its gonna be humanly measurable progress. So we'd know. Only problem that can occur is when progress is taken away from hands of man and to machines. Of which objectives of benefiting itself may contradict with benefits of man.

  • @answerOfstupids exactly and thats why they could never really be human, no freewill.

  • Okay, by the time that shit hits, I'll be 60+ years old... I'll gladly accept the medical breakthroughs in lung, heart, and kidney technology, but I wanna keep my mind to myself. I'll gladly do the "Ghost in the Shell" (tv-anime) thing, but I don't want to lose my individuality by having all my whatever in the singularity..... I'll pass on your theory. : /

  • if this was a real cosmic occurence this singularity, and there are other intelligent civilizations out there, then this singularity would have already occured through their technology, so if there were some spreading of knowledge through the universe it would have hit us by now, no? these machine/beings would transcend ordinary physics, it would be no challenge for them to get here. there has to be some sort of universal "law" preventing this. perhaps something like prime directive but maybe no

  • @spidermonkeys22, that may be true but just remember to consider one thing. The universe is MASSIVE. Billions of light years across, some species may transcend beyond the universe or something even beyond our comprehension before they meet us.

  • @isthereanythathasnt3 also we already know we can copy emotionnal inteligence and its really not that complicated in theory

  • @andrewfink1 "in theory"

  • @NerdJuice1 well you should know that we have reversed engineered more complicated process in our brain like the cerubellum emotion is not really that complicated just chemicals in the brain just like evreything else why did you even say that it might be immposible do you have any scientific data for that

  • @spidermonkeys22 it would be a challange to find us remember the universe is vast andon top of that there has to be a first civilaisation in the galaxy to reach the ultimate height of civilisation you know how in syfy shows like startrek there is always some race of super beings who have exsisted for millions of years and bet evreyone to the punch...why couldnt that be us

  • @spidermonkeys22 Why would these beings want to have any business with us? To them we'd be like bacteria.

  • @GANGLIAGOROTUS correct but i was responding directly to something that was said in the video. that after the singularity occurs a spreading of knowledge through the universe.

  • @spidermonkeys22

or although it is unlikely we are somehow the first ones although this seems very unlikely then how would you explain tht we are here? like saying thats its a miracle that we are on the earth but if we werent here we wouldnt be here sayin how much of a miracle it is

  • @spidermonkeys22 Maybe it already has. Maybe we are a small byproduct of a different singularity. Our only use for intelligence is to create more intelligence and further the singularity. We could be but catalysts for the intelligence saturation of the universe.

  • @spidermonkeys22

The only thing that moves faster than the speed of light is you as you go from real science to science fiction to fantasyland.

  • @AspiringPotato did i even say anything about the speed of light lol

  • @AspiringPotato in any case im holding the fort in fantasy land, ill keep you updated with useful information and you let me know when you catch up :)

  • @spidermonkeys22 That's true, but since we have yet to come across another intelligent species it could be possible that we're the most advanced biological thing out there. Maybe it really takes this long for an intelligent civilization to emerge, we can't really say for sure can we?

  • @spidermonkeys22 also it could be possible that we could eventually conflict with another intelligent race sometime in the future.

  • @spidermonkeys22 We are a needle in a needle stack the size of which comprehending could take a lifetime to achieve.

  • @spidermonkeys22 ... try some DMT, and you will change your mind about "them" not being here ;-)

"They" sent their message a long time ago, and are only waiting for us to discover it.

  • @2bRealist The message is in our own DNA.

  • the singularity is... transformers robots in disguise

  • this kinda reminds me of deus ex

u know how the remove limbs eyes n stuff and replace them with robotic ones

kinda creepy but to each his own

  • I really like the idea of Epoch 6, finally we may be able to get off Earth and explore the whole universe and its wonders! All the problems will be gone! No more people will die from starvation due to the billions of planets in our galaxy ( not billions dunno ) enough resources for all! Although Epoch 5 doesn't seem right, I wouldn't Robots to be self-aware, if they are then they might turn rampant and go against us and it might mean our doom,

Well we have to have faith in our species first :P

  • spelling, yellow and unrelated bullshit... -1

  • Can i still keep my dick?

  • either way me wiping my ass after i take a shit is unavoidable..

    unless i want shitty pants.

  • Well, let's hope dell goes out of business before this.

  • um the predicted date is 2029, not 2049.

  • @AIONBERSERKER wont happen at 29

  • If any of you are wondering how or why this is occurring, according to the Hermetic Principle of Correspondence: "As above so below." If you are familiar with the Holographic Model of the Universe, and the nature of how holography works this already makes sense to you. If you are not familiar with it, to simply state it: when change happens in any part it is reflected throughout the whole, as each part contains the information of the whole. This illustrates the interconnectedness of everything.

  • @TheEcstereo This is not to say that everyone has the awareness required to recognize these fundamental changes. For most people, their convoluted belief structures obstruct their ability to observe the meanings that lie beyond the superficial qualities of a thought or an experience. For instance, if I believe, "this church is true," I will not be aware of, or inclined to look at, evidence within my environment beyond "this church," that suggests otherwise. This doesn't negate the principle.

  • @TheEcstereo we really need to talk some time because it is true i did not know too much about this singularity but I disagree about not looking at evidence outside of church. I will admit that when I look at the "Evidence" I see flaws because of what I was taught. the learning thing is sort of known to me because i do some scripting and i know they did not insert these scripts before hand. but I still do not believe that computers will ever become intellegent as humans.

  • @FeatherandCup If you would like to talk, you are welcome to speak with me. I was not saying not to look at evidence outside of church. Please reread the comment, as it was just an example of how a belief can stand in the way of taking advantage of opportunities for personal growth, and how whatever you believe will show you evidence that it is true. You are correct in that there are fundamental flaws when one only focuses on the evidence at hand.

  • @FeatherandCup Also, I agree that machines will never become as intelligent as humans, as a whole, in that we are the creators of them, and according to the law of correspondence (As above so below), nothing's evolution ever surpasses it's origins. So, if AI intelligence evolves a million times faster than humans, once they catch up to where humans are now, from then on, they will push our progression at their rate (a million times faster than we're used to).

  • Respond to this video...

  • @TheEcstereo and also I do try to look at evidence outside of my church but will always see a problem with things that contradict the Bible. When we talk I will try to explain more because it won't make sense outside of my veiw

  • It seems you are in desperate need of an editor. While your ideas here are on the right track, the grammatical and spelling mistakes do detract from the overall message. I'm only saying this because I like your message, but I don't think it's as well-received as it could be. I suggest finding yourself someone to proof read your stuff before you publish it.

  • i dont really beleive machine can think by itslef because it would have to be a program by a creator(human) and therefore not really self created but i don't beleive machine can evolve and suddenly grow another cord or program so in a nutshell I do not believe machine will ever surpass or come even to humans. so humans will be superior

  • @FeatherandCup

if I'm off subject then point out how.

now lets take your opinion, say we take the cap off your head, and through Neuroscience managed to provide a simulated environment that could take a dump of your brain, now say the result is that you are still you, but there's an artificial intelligence now that is also you, but without the lack of brain capacity to comprehend how AI coders and people in different fields of science are not wasting their time quite like you are.

  • @FeatherandCup It sounds like you have a lot of studying to do, then. Have you ever heard of "machine learning?" This is what will IS CURRENTLY bringing about the ability for machines to evolve. Machine learning is different from traditional programming. The programming done by an actual programmer is actually very minimal, but is written in such a way that as the machine "experiences" environmental stimulus it is able to perpetually reprogram itself to operate more efficiently...

  • Well the neuron is the smallest known circuit for transfering information, so the most powerful computer may still be as large as a building. It will take a leap in the understanding of the brain before we can fit the information in a small space like our heads, or perhaps some nano circuits - whatever comes first.

  • if you watched A.I. (artificial intellegence) you already know how this is going to work out.. or maybe,, to my thinking the most plausible,,, (with the rfid chip) Think about star treks borg. The elites,, (top of the food chain) want more,, power and money does that,, they want us all as slaves, easily controlled, to do whatever they wish. Look at technolgy,, they can already control people getting and electronic chip just makes it easier. Look what the cartoons are feeding our kids.

  • love this xD reading through the comments here is the best part.

knee jerk reactions by some, others think childish or insane, they're future shocked too i guess. regardless of whether you or anyone wants this or not, it wont change a thing, with each generation we become more acceptant of technological evolution, your kids might not fear what you do, regardless of what you teach them, even religion points to this kind of thinking, followers think different, it's entertainingly ironic.

  • @oOJINxOo1, you have the most intelligent comment yet. It's a hypothetical scenario based on trends. We seem to be headed towards it but it is nothing to be afraid of.

  • @oOJINxOo1 well actully you are sort of off subject by alot

  • @oOJINxOo1 you are simply saying we should sit back and accept it which is off topic because you didnt say anything about theories so here is my thoughts, lol for 1 you come back at me cause your ego got scarred on your top comment? get a wife, kids, and a job. and I do not believe the sigularity will come simply because God

made us as special. you wonder why a cat won't talk to you or start solving string theory? go stroke your ego somewhere else cause it won't happen and when im 50 i'll call.

  • @FeatherandCup

god you're full of assumptions arent you, you rude git.

1! I live how i please, not conforming to your standards of what you consider to be a 'life', i'll 'get' a wife when i meet the right person if ever. I have no desire to have kids and i have 3 jobs tyvm.

2 If you want facts go read the facts instead of wasting your time here, cause that's what you're doing. i suppose you're off to tell AI developers how futile their efforts are next? your 'kids and wife' would be proud..

  • ps, i dont get where 'go stroke your ego somewhere else' came from tho, what has any of this or anything i've said got to do with ego? change is the only constant in life, that and obnoxious attitudes judging by youtube comments. anyway, i like cats :3

  • what is the processing power of a neural network?COULD some day equals whit moores law, besides his law has a limit of the miniaturization?Mine Brain is a complex neural network, physically different from enyone watching this, and so yours too. How the heck to program One Human? Like a machine!? I bet you d´never coded

    class What_I_Think

    int i = 0;

    while(i = 0);

    System.out.println("people will think there is somehow to Unitology in the future");

Besides, Big Dog isnt inteligent at all!

  • we'll all be wiped out by disease and other environmental problems before then.

  • FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU- I'm going to die before this Happens D: I'm 12 BTW :[

  • @xDwinz So you'll die when you are like 50 years old...? D:

  • @xDwinz No, little buddy you really wont, you'll be grown up then and much much smarter than the grown ups today, who want you to believe in their movies. In history, people used to believe the world was flat and even believed in magic. But today, we know better. And when your all grown up you'll understand the world around you far better than how people do today! So do be happy and work hard at doing the things that are good for you and other people. :)

  • @230382hwa Haha Yea i'll be like 42 Or Somthing.Since i was born on 1999 :D

  • @xDwinz nah you wont, you'll be in your late 50's if not 60's but that time. And spouting forth the phrase 'Back in my day!...."

  • FRO

  • Yeeeeessssssssssss

  • lol...I don't think you understand computers/programs. if computing power and technology gets as advanced as humans, they will still get nullpointers and crash on their brain networks. Heck one might even go rogue and create their own conficker virus to take another one of their own out.

  • Who would ever believe in this bullshit... -.-

  • If we were to rid the world of money, we'd make progress quicker. Money holds us back. Visit the Venus Project website.

  • @nansir ya, but people can't handle that, and their needs to be a method of transferring credentials of earnings for products. Now ridding the world of excess luxury may be a better idea, I said luxury not things that make life better in situation, making life in opinion better is not good if everyone cannot have. And also the goal of corporations being top is not good.

  • the coming cockularity , jizz everywher

  • I don't know how i got to this video

  • only limit to posthumans powers are their imaginations

2199 Intelligent Cosmos = perfectly everything imaginable, unimaginable, and perfectly everything beyond, is far transcended and controlled. Perfectly Omni is transcended

  • 2030s Imaginary VR simulations commonplace (live out any fantasy no matter how impossible, do anything your imagination can come up with no limit, ultimate happiness and joy)

2050s Posthumanity, beings who are absolutely omnipotent, total omniscient, vast reality warping, indestructible, immortal, endless omnipotence hierarchy, perfectly endless perfect Godmalpha hierarchies, as well as vastly transcendent of everything imaginable, unimaginable, and perfeclty everything beyond.

  • Important Events of the Future:

2030s Singularity=infinite technological progress is reached, (meaning will see infinite eons of technological progress every second)! and the producing of infinitely intelligent machines in the near future!

2040s Post Scarcity Event (absolutely everything, electricity, electronics, cars, food, furniture, houses, is now free, monetary system is abolished, absolute wealth and freedom), all physical and intellectual labor is replaced by machines

  • @SlayerGod999 I think that somebody will have to event new machines.. as you said.. machines have no imagination therefor they can't event things.. lolz

  • @secuter u misunderstood, i didnt say machines have no imagination, i said they will be so god like and powerful that anything you can imagine, type infinity civilizations and God, for example, they will far transcend

  • @SlayerGod999 they become a civilization themselves depending on how they were created. When or if humans are absent after this, they will evolve and create civilizations in the far future they couldn't even imagine. Its like that for everything. Even living organisms like eukaryotes are just natural machines that occur on their own at least. If man can make an organism, that will be our predecessor no matter what.

  • @codecrax nope, they will far transcend the term civilization itself, everything the feeble comprehension of us humans or perhaps any entity can imagine, these AIs will go beyond

  • @SlayerGod999 I think it will be sooner than that. The money system is collapsing as we speak, we cannot sustain this for another generation. Also the internet is connecting people and raising our awareness at an exponential rate, we're growing. I feel some major events are just around the corner. I hope things work out OK.

  • @docflamingo dude you're an idiot if you believe in this childish fantasy bullshit

  • @MrJokerABM1 it may be childish to you but it is true moores law is happening we have already developed a thinking learning computer im sure you being all knowledgeable in this area know of this "Watson" the learning computer while i don't believe this may happen in our life time technology is going to keep getting more advanced human life is going to extend innumerably and life as we know it today will change compeletly in the next ten year you just wont notice it just like we seemllessly...

  • @FallenFate100 You will never be able to make a machine think. You will be able to give a machine choices from which it will pick one or more. You may be able to give it so many choice and make it able to connect them that it actually might seem like, that it's thinking.. though it isn't. You can't program something to "think" as this "think" then will run in a program, and then it's not thinking but a program. And just as the slide said.. you can't program feelings either. Same reason as before

  • @secuter then what is our brain but a program that runs process and filters information. What is thought? what is feeling because you can't sense the thoughts or feelings of something else does not mean that these process aren't running through our head. The future is an infinite anything. as Micheal Crichton once said "how would you explain to a man from the 17th century that one day there will be machines that fly everywhere in the world and not just one but millions. you couldn't."

  • @FallenFate100 correction 14th century sorry

  • @FallenFate100 A program is something that have been programmed by another living thing. Only if you believe in a god this would be true. And therefor our brains isn't a program. When you referrer to filters you could say machine like as to sort out what to see/look after. But you would never be able to create feelings for a non living thing. The feelings are running through our head. How can you give a non-living thing a personality because then it would be programmed. Moores law might be wrong

  • @secuter failing to grasp the truth does not mean it doesn't exist. When you can prove my existence to yourself then you can prove that machines can't one day obtain feelings.

  • @MrJokerABM1 just as we've slid into place into the current era of technology we went from type writers to handheld computers more powerful then some satellites in space. think about it while i dont believe we will ever reach this kind of era we may reach something similar. But we can only wait and see can't we.

  • Play mass effect much?

  • A singularity is mostly impossible, we are humans god created us we created computers with gods materials then we used them which means if we can build it we can destroy it like god can destroy us (Dinosaurs)

  • @Oceanrust4 With DUE respect; this is an unspeakably ignorant, childish way to look at the world. "Thinking" like this will surely doom us all. Your magic, invisible friend will not save you--get back to the dark ages where you belong.

  • taht's very interesting :p

  • you have aids.........

  • dude stop smoking sherm it will do that to your head

  • Play halo?

  • LOL!!! is that the soundtrack from the Last of the Mohicans??!

  • so what happened to the 2012 prediction? oh yeah it got pushed back...just like it will be pushed back in 2049 to some other mathematically balanced date...

  • @pinpoint45 no one predicted it would be in 2012. i think you are thinking of the Myan apocalypse.

  • @bam6470 look up Terrence McKenna the singularity.

  • @pinpoint45 that guy is just a crack pot who pulled a number out of his ass, this singularity is based off of current trends in technology. Ray kurtzwel is the person who is predicting this singularity and has never changed his time frame to my knowledge.

  • people believe technology is the savior because that is what their told. we should have access to all knowledge, and we are capable of amazing things.. but, those things equal true "freedom" there is to much against that right now. this technology equals slavery and destruction.

  • By then i would be dead and gone so i don't rely gave a shit!!!

  • shit i wish i was born in 2029

  • i am a FIRM SINGULITARIAN!

  • im really not liking this at all...

  • How the fuck did i end up at this video? O.o

  • Imagine doing a robot.... how fucked would that be

  • good thing ill be 45 or 46 years old when this happen LOL!

  • I don't see anything to be concerned about. Having more processing power than the human brain means little if you can't adapt it to something outside of the provided programming perimeters. In order for an artificial intelligence to be worth a damn and have more problem solving capabilities than a cockroach, it'd need to be able to program new software for itself to solve every new problem (on top of a baseline of trillions of lines of code). Easier said than done-it might not even be possible.

  • so we'll just have cortanas?

  • computers WILL become self-aware,and scientists say that singularity is approaching faster than WAY expected.the estimated year is 2035.an when computers will become self-aware,they WILL be able to "Build themselves",and make themselves more powerful and on and on.having a "conscience" is really doubtful.so,i dont believe into that terminator style computer-takes-the-control-of-the-earth scenario.

  • @RaYk1LL3r But the problem is. What is being self aware? And can it be taught to a machine(though experinces or otherwise)?

  • ill be 41 yrs old at that year. holy shiz! i wonder wtf will happen in general in 37 YEARS. nobody will remember this shiz in 20 YEARS! think about it.
