  • Beautiful looking fish and a tank to match!

  • Male jags lose the black bars running down their body and have the spotted effect all over them. The females keep a dark black bar running horizontal. You can tell their gender at about 9 months old. They grow real fast!!! Mine got to 10 inches in 1 year from 1/2 an inch. He was fed on pellet, worms, and fish. And the occasional tank mate :/

  • одна рыба на весь аквариум?

  • looks like a largemouth, haha.

  • Beautiful tank and gorgeus fish

  • BEAUTIFUL tank. Absolutely stunning.

  • Gorgeous Fish!

  • Nice fish and tank. the only thing you are doing wrong is putting the feeder fish water in the tank. It has germs and diseases in it that non-feeder fish are not immune to. Unfortunately, Iost 2 alligator gars before i found out=(

  • @FootballPyro2069

Actually that's not 'feeder fish water', its water from the tank. I drained all the water the feeder fish came with and used that cup w/ regular tank water to hold them until i was ready to dump them in. It's still possible to transmit diseases/etc through feeder fish, not just the water they come with.

  • @bpags52 how do you know if its a female or a male

  • @serrasalmus1000

    She used to spawn eggs.

  • @bpags52 best female jag i have ever seen. 100% looks like a male to me.

  • Fantastic tank, great size.

  • Jag's are easily the best cichlid evaaaa

  • 55 gallons will work for one... theyll only grow to 6 inches in a 55

  • nice heater lol

  • im surprised he hasn't eaten the pleco yet...

  • awesome fish. idiot person

  • I just got a 10 gallon tank and i would like to put tropical fish in it WHAT KIND AND HOW MANY WOULD YOU SUGGEST????? please reply

  • Ppl put some of those in a local river here in Australia ... Killed everything even .. Forget name but a decent size fish they bet them to food cost thosands to get rid of

  • u should get a male jaguar

  • Watch your pH. All that driftwood's going to lower it

  • why would you keep such a big tank with one fish

.i got 2 depseys with my jag

  • Very pretty jag and tank to bad you got rid of her. She looks great. we have them in area canal (Miami) and I love them.

Lots died after freak cold winter but enough survived and breeding .

  • nice jag n setup check out my vids

  • great tank! thats what id if i could afford it. fishy needs lots of space!!

  • beautiful fish ( and even better tank). 5 stars.

  • Deff il check them out suck to hear but hopefully shes popin out tons more to keep the fam going :P

  • Wow so cool to hear you had since it was a lil gall but by the sounds im guessin she isent still kickin around :( ?

  • Well, to be honest, I grew bored of the tank over the years. I ended up trading her in to the LFS who claimed to have found her a home w/ a male jag in a 75g tank. Sometimes i regret it... search my other vids for current tank setup

  • hey man i was wondering how old your fish is its got nice patterns btw good job

  • Thanks. She was almost 5 years old in that video (purchased in August '04 at 1" size)

  • could you keep a single female alone in a 55 gallon tank for its whole, life or would it get 2 big?

  • 55g would be cutting it close, most 55g tanks are only 12" wide.

  • Does anyone know where I can buy a jaguar cichlid online? I've checked all the aquatic stores in my area and none of them have nor can they find them. My husband really wants one and I can't seem to find them anywhere.

  • @TxMilf1986: Liveaquaria sell them and they are very cheap only around $3.49 USD. They call it the "Managuense Cichlid " so go check it out.

  • I have a bunch of babies, I'd like to start selling them online, but don't know a good way to do it...Mine have babies like every 2 months.

  • @TxMilf1986 they sell them at petsmart they are called Managuense Cichlid in the stores most of the time.

  • cool tank and jaguar. I was on a week vacation and my jaguar went from 2.5 - 3 inches they grow real fast

  • wow this is a awesome tank you have there and cool jaguar cichlid :D

  • I like how he methodically tracks his prey down and devours them...awesome fish

  • hey i just bought a inch and a half two inches long jag to day how long do you think it will take him to get to about 4 5 inches?

  • Depends on tank size, water temp, how often/what you feed, how often you do water changes/etc. I'd guess 3-5 months, not sure though.

  • how come you only got one?

  • Just ended up that way. It started out with other tank mates 5 years ago, but fast forward 5 years it was all that was left (besides a pleco). I was new to fish keeping back then and had some casualties that probably could have been avoided with a better maintenance routine.

  • how long does it take a jag of 1 inch to get to 8 inches?

  • Depends on tank size, water temp, how often/what you feed/etc. I'd guess maybe a year and half to 2 years, not sure though. This jag was about 4.5 years old in this video, but it stopped growing awhile ago.

  • yeah i have a jag but it might die because when i got it i had a jack dempsey cichlid and they were lip locking so i brought the jack dempsey to my sisters boyfriends house and we put the dempsey with a bunch of cichlids and 4 small turtles in 180 gallon tank and is there anything to fix cloudy eye

  • I think MelaFix treats cloudy eye. Best advice I can give is keep your water quality up by doing frequent (every other day) 25-35% water changes until its cleared up, then cut back to a regular once a week water change. Its also possible the eye is cloudy because its scratched or injured somehow. Either way, best way to help it heal is to get your water quality pristine.

  • That wasn't fish store water I was pouring in w/ the feeders, it was tank water (netted the feeders into a cup of it). and yeah, there is a risk of transferring parasites/disease to your fish with feeders. That jag only got feeders once every couple months as a treat.

  • i fed my jag live fish once but it just killed it and lft it so i stick to pellet now

  • nice setup I like the non overcrowded bio tope look. Careful pouring fish store water in your tank.

  • Nice looking Jag.

  • do u filter the gold fish first?

  • nice jag man, sweet vid

  • Wouldn't you?

  • Lol all the little fish are freaking out. :D
