dude theres a 243 star this is how you get it beat the game with mario first 242 stars then beat the game again but this time use Luigi when you get all the 242 stars a extra star will apear on top that house YOU NEED at least 1 clound then backflip and you will spin your wii mote and you will see the 243 star not kidding (sorry for grammer)

how the hell do u get here? i ahve 119 stars total and most of my galaxys are completely done , i thought 120 was the cap , i have 1 star i dont have and 1 bronze on the world S luigis face galaxy to get all 100 purple coins i cant do , however , ive never seen someone with 242 stars.

There's a reason rosalina doesn't remember them. At the end of SMG1 (I think it only says in the true ending) Rosalina says that the stars are reborn a while after they die and that all living things carry the essence of the stars, so all the characters have died and been reborn but, as rosalina mentions in SMG1 "When they are reborn things don't quite happen the same. Well... You'll see"

To everyone responding to my comment, you do all realize that GoNintendo had an article that clearly stated that Mario Galaxy 2's plot was to have nothing to do with SMG1. And to make note of my DrRobotnik's comment, why else WOULD Rosalina act like she didn't know Mario? It's because she never did. You guy's are acting in the same way everyone acts to the Zelda series, everyone thinks they're connected to a timeline, when Miyamoto himself said there is no timeline.

@printerjam5 Ï don't think it is a different timeline. I think that everything started all over again as Rosalina said to Mario at the end of SMG. If you remember baby Luma was reborn and Mario Shout Welcome, welcome new galaxy. Then, after that I think everything happened all over again, even the star festival. At the end of SMG2. WHen you first fought Bowser in SMG2 Bowser said sometihng like: Now I remember why you are my archnemesis. Rosalina at the end of SMG2 seemed to rememeber Mario too.
