  • I'm Just amused how many guys are always making negative almost crappy critics about the efectivity of Submissions101 when i'm totally sure, they have not even being in a street fight or sport combat or match, and there are other ( the mayority) like us that have worked on martial arts as BJJ nd we can say THANKS to you buddy and Submission101 because we have at least aplied one technique we have learnt here ;) THANKS to IMPROVE my martial art vocabulary SUBMISSION101. Oss

  • Sankajo does work . I LOVE this variation . I will be sure to credit you .NYPD

  • great technique as always , your channel is very impressive , you are also a great teacher and very good at explaining what your are doing

    well done

  • This is an aikido technique it does work I practice aikido and I also work the doors I've used it for real. It does take practice to get right though.

  • I found this helpful for sankajo application. Thanks!

  • That control and walk at the end is what always works. I'm a fan of just starting and ending with it.

  • Nice fluid movement

  • sooo very boss. I would love to see a seminar from you guys at bakersfield brazilian Jiu jitsu

  • While you're working on the wrist lock couldn't the person you're trying to subdue just punch you in the face with their other hand?

  • I'm not doubting your technique but that move has been tried on me before and I easily punch the guy in the face and that was the end of that. What is another way to counter my punch??? I'm curious to know b/c I will not always be the defensive opponent, there are times where I will be the aggressor.

  • I think it's funny, with all the naysayers. I'm sure working the door is very similar in tactics to law enforcement. Defensive tactics teaches LEO's a variety of different escort techniques, but there's a reason why there's more than one. You can't commit to just one and expect it to be the end all, save all. If you employ a technique and it's not working, we are taught to immediately transition to a different technique, or maybe utilize a less-lethal tool.

  • Don't listen to the haters! I've used wristlocks in my line of work too (security). Works pretty good!

  • THESE TECHNIQUES DO NOT WORK, THIS GUY HAS NEVER WORKED AS A BOUNCER.

  • @720FLYKICKX This is my 16th year working the doors. If you doubt it, please contact my bouncing mentor, Ivan Doc Holiday to verify. Every technique works differently for everyone and I use this as my goto move to escort people out of the bar. Thanks for the troll attempt.

  • @Submissions101 I know it's a common misconception that you've got to be this big guy to work the doors, times have changed and it's more than being a brute I know, but do you find that more trouble comes to the smaller doormen. Genuinely interested.

  • @Submissions101 Many years ago I saw you do this, I was surprised to see you on the fight network doing video instruction. I am glad to see you posting this. Keep them coming Ari.

  • @720FLYKICKX Ha, yeah right. You clearly don't know what you're talking about. I've used this type of technique myself and seen many others do the same with great success. Caps lock don't make you correct, just make you look like the douchebag you are.

  • @720FLYKICKX STFU

  • @720FLYKICKX Just 'cause you saw this video once won't make you proficient, genius. You most likely don't understand how to setup into the actual technique. The technique works. It's a variation of the straight wrist twist. Aikido calls it sankyo.

  • @720FLYKICKX maybe they do not work for you. As a person retained to keep my retainers bar safe and secure, I have personally used many of the waza shown albeit in variations as the situation call for - all of these techniques are based on what has worked on the battlefield or when very important peoples life had to be protected. It takes time, practice inner attention not brawn alone. There is no silver bullet..

  • @gcastil This is SO well written and a PERFECT answer to every you tube comment that states " that never works". Everything is going to work differently for different people.

  • I have NEVER been able to make this technique live....BUT I know at least 2 people that can and very effectively...theres alot of factors involved size weight ratio etc but it can work :)

  • Not saying you do not but the wrist is in fact a weak joint in the body and great to use as an escort. Not all moves work all the time on all people and if they did, we'd only need one move in our tool box.

  • Any bouncer can tell you that each one will have their own tactics and use of force models. What works for us may not work for you. To say this isn't viable based on 26 years on the door isn't a logical argument but a fallacy called appeal to authority. I have used this with great sucess and it works for us well. I often see too many people discount a technique without trying it or not uderstanding the mechanics.

  • I've tried that last part where u have one arm hooked and go in with the outside of the wrist+hand against their jaw/face in training situations against a solid guy who is about 5 inches taller, I noticed that the wrist/hand structure is not very strong when you don't have much leverage, he was able to use the strength of his neck to resist that head control aspect of it and straighten out his head.

  • i just started new as a bouncer a few weeks ago! i learned this technique through this video and i applied it to a resisting escort last weekend and it worked!

    Thanks alot Submissions 101!!!!

  • Not to sure about escorting using the head as leverage.

  • Are you using Aikido techniques here?

  • thanks.. people also fail to see this (correct me if wrong ) is a platform for beginners...

  • I'm a six year jujtsuka and this is one of the exact transition techniques we apply from Sanko. With practice it is an extremely effective restraint and control tactic! Great video as always guys!

  • This is a legit submission. You really are immobilized.

  • luckily i work in a club and i get to try al these moves and they've been working so far

  • Derived from aikijujutsu and aikido.Sankyo lock 0:30

  • Always go for complete restraint. Don't mess about.

  • I have seen so many people lose teeth and cop a nice hit from attempting this. It doesnt matter how skilled you are with it, if you try it on someone who is strong and or has some fighting background (Muay Thai ect) you will get hurt. (If you cop a full contact Elbow to the head delivered with even a little skill you wont have much of a skull left) Don't try this if you are an amatuer.

  • Submissions101 always puts out good stuff. I learned the sankyo immobilization in aikido 16 years ago in college, but it's nice to see it taught in a practical manner as a lockflow against realistic resistance.

  • 0.58 Instead of stepping on his toes you can also put your elbow in his back. It stops him from turning, cause he might try guillotine.

  • really cus in my form of ju jitsu we just call it an arm raised wrist lock lol. doesnt matter what u call it, it works.

  • Hell yeah it does.

  • I don't generally like the idea of trying to put static joint leverage on someone to move them. It can work in theory with really good technique once you get control, but in my experience it mostly works well against people I could have strong-armed out the door with simpler head and arm guidance for balance and safety. For others, messing with their joints is as likely to make the situation worse (by them fighting or sitting down) as it is to help you move them. Basic control before "locks."

  • Can anyone tell me whats stopping the guy using his free hand to punch?

  • the way his other arm is being held, it prevents him from moving backwards without inflicting a lot of pain on himself. He would feel it pinch in his shoulder (front side).

  • He didn't really teach it from an approach such as pulling off the technique if someone was attacking you but trust me, once they've got that wrist lock on you, swing all you want but they own you and control where they want you to go. It's very cool stuff.

  • excruciating pain and directional momentum. this lock causes instant red hot agony. and mechanically, the guys hand is being cranked up and in - so his free shoulder is spinning away. get an experienced aikido or japanese jiu-jitsu guy to put it on you - you'll be a believer.

  • it does work but next time use a resisting partner kool tho chicken wings nice

  • in aikido we call it sankyo

  • Nice to see a little Aikido and J. Jujitsu in your series. Great tutorial -- thanks again.

  • The real name is Sankyo. It has many variations...

  • What did you say you call this? Sancajo? Is that Japanese? I practice Hapkido and we simply call it an elevated wrist lock. I'd like to see more videos of this lock but there doesn't seem to be a standard name for it.

  • Actually this technique is called Sankyo or 3rd Control it is originally a Jujutsu Tech and it is the 3rd Control of the 5 primary Jujutsu Controls. Before that is Ikkyo, Nikkyo, Sankyo, Yonkyo, Gokyo. This technique works very well and the only prob I found with it as a doorman it is sometimes tricky to get on if inexperienced and combatant is fighting your grab and it will explode the wrist because drunks alot of times dont pain comply so dmg usually results leading to liability issues. JMO

  • I've heard it called "circular wrist lock" in Hapkido as well.

  • this street ju jitsu stuff is good. i saw a guy pull full guard in a street fight and he was introduced to concrete. this stuff is quick and effective.

  • Good stuff. And to the people that this didn't work for it takes practice along with confidence. And also your brain. Also like he said if their stiff then do the tap to distract them.

Only part I don't like is the head to the arm part. I don't like being that vulnerable. I would just skip to the last part. But that's just me.

  • I have used this when escorting inmates to Segregation from their dorm. It's very useful.

  • WHERE YOU WORK? JUVI?

  • why does the other person keep tapping himself???

  • he taps to let the sensei is applying enough force to cause pain.

  • I actually started using the tips and techniques shown during my work hours in the local night club, and I have to say they are 100%. I havent been touched once compared to the past where they usually got one of two lucky shots in. Thanks a bunch

  • ive tried this like 6 times on unexpected stronger people

they just yank there hand towards them and do there move thats better back at me!!

  • Well.. if you tell them "Hey!! Im going to show you a trick!" and you grab their arm, the natural instinct is to pull their arm closer to themselves, to gain strenght or protect themselves.

Allso if you dont have any training and just try doing it on people on school, the chance of failing is probably a lot higher.

People you do this on are most of the time not aware of what you are going to do, and the people who use these techniques, for example bouncers, have been through training

    ...........

  • that's like watching a back-flip video and saying its impossible because you can't do it. get some professional instruction and actually start training.

  • Great video. This move seems to really put the escortee in great pain. I love it. Keep posting... Thanks

  • The "goose" will work if you do it quick enough (on a mild to moderate threat-level person). Strength does not matter. Repetitions, repetitions in training.. It helps a lot to cut in on the inside of his elbow on the entry. Controlled speed after distraction is optimal, and one must have a bit of adrenal desensitation and experience to do this semi-fine motor movement. And do not try it on "stiff"/"ready-to-fight-people". I still like the transitition to Sankajo shown for advanced students.

  • when you JUST start this tactic, couldn't the person turn towards you with a punch to the face or something? you're using both hands on the arm, and the feet were free.

  • What people fail to see (and feel) is that you apply enough pressure that the lock hurts like hell. You keep the person of the edge where they are only concerned with the pain...not your face. I've done this literally hundreds of times over 14 years of bouncing and have never once been punched. Pretty good stats in my books.

  • very true. i have only just started martial arts so i have been looking up videos such as this one. thanks!

  • Also I might add that any professional doorman would always have a backup man/woman when escorting out a patron with force. Overwhelming presence is the key to avoiding a violent response as any professional in the industry can attest. There is a counter to everything. And of course if you react slowly and telegraph a compliance hold, you may get hit and you can never count out the chance of it. But all things considered, this is a very good hold that and is very high percentage.

  • Very true! As I always tell my guys "this is a TEAM sport ;-)"

  • isn't too risky getting your head low at a bouncing perspective? just awndering... great move and thx submisson 101

  • worked for me for 14 years so far ;-)

  • Even if your opponent tries to punch you he has to turn towards you (in this case to the left). When doing so he would snap his wrist cause its already locked. Thats why he turns in "lock direction" to lower the preasure. Thats at least what I think would happen, somone who knows better can correct me here ^^

Great explanations by the way keep up the cool vids.

  • Nice vid!! I wonder if you could make some videos that shows some defens agangst common punches and so forth? I allsow would like to se some movies there you show howe to defende agangst knives attacks and when some on is striking with maby a baseball bet ore a stick?

    I would really appreciate it!!!

  • to the instructor: i was just wandering if you had any submissions for us bigger guys...

i'm 6'4 and just started bouncing.. i'm a self taught streetfighter but would love to learn some essential holds.. if you could let me know please would be awesome..

  • Hey buddy: I have bounced for the last 13 years. Send me an email via our website and we'll chat.

  • Hi there, i'm also new to bouncing, have done judo for many years, but being a smaller guy (5'11"), i dont have many good escort techniques to use against bigger guys. Anything that would be useful to me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • what about when they elbow your chin? lol

  • Great to see the escort techniques bring on more! Alot of times in the real world this is all we need. Eg. dealing with a stupid friend or family member. Something even people like teachers can use when dealing with punk students that are causing problems. Even bouncers in bars.

  • do you have any other techniques when you are face to face with a combative subject you are essentially going to attempt to take into custody or at least go ahaead and try to take control off??

  • Is everyone forgetting th fact that there is an elbo, and a face... As a bouncer, I know a maneuver like this, the first reaction is an elbow, and personally I like to maintain my pearly smile.

  • Dot:Been a bouncer for 12 years, use this lots and wrote a book on the subjecy (Doorman's Credo)..still got my pearly whites ;-)

  • looks good... but you have to do it pretty fast if you don´t want to get blown by an upper cut... his right hand is free.

  • yep, that is why you apply it with LOTS of force, causing the opponent to have pain the entire time....then moving to the back for a lateral neck restraint and take down. I use this all the time in my job...works like a bloody charm.

  • Good technique! I was told by my Hapkido instructor never to hook a persons head with your hand open because they will grab hold of your fingers. Look forward to seeing more escort techniques, all your videos are really good!

  • great work your videos are very informative,

    keep up the good work

  • lmao moving the head 2 the side like that is my fav move if im just showing sum1 2 back off it realy pisses ppl off gr8 work on the arm 2 m8 ill have 2 try that 1 next

  • sankyo

  • nice technique, for the head placement is only for preventing the arm to move anywhere else?

  • nicety!

  • haha! it looks pretty painful!

  • Great Tip Ari..!Hope u can come to Asia to teach man..

  • Great job, keep the videos coming!
