i like the design but you might want to switch the chain to a thicker gauge and with make the wood beams thicker or change it to a metal pole. i did something similar and the wood broke
problem is now your backyard looks like shit,great for someone who couldnt afford a stand or find somewhere to hang 1. you just ruined your nice little yard.
I've been using mine for years and it withstands quite heavy punishment. Perhaps I'll invite Carnage to demonstrate (I train in the same gym with him) at some stage and video it.
I have a question- does the chain have to be at that angle going behind the stand? I've got a heavy bag anchored in my garage, but my folks are terrified I'll knock it down with how much it makes the garage shake. I could make one of these stands in there, but I don't have that long for the chain to go.
Same thing happened to me when I was living with my folks - I nearly demolished their garage. The chain doesn't need to be long at all, but make sure it is well anchored - perhaps using a dynabolt. I'm also about to publish a mod to the connection of the two beams, so stay tuned.
Love it. Always inspiring to see someone thinking outside the tin. Loads of cash saved exploiting simple physics. And it takes a bloody wailing too. Cheers mate!
see my other video of a freed-standing version... I just attach a joist hanger ($1.60 each) to the end of each beam to allow it to dig into the ground and stop it from moving.
just wondering where you bought all of this ? i have been looking for a while now and all bag stands are pretty expensive, did you get your materials from bunnings or something ? cheers for your help and tips
@bestpublished hey i went to bunnings today, got the wood, and star picket, i was going to get the chain there but all the chain i could see similar to yours was hell expensive, like $10 a meter, you dont remember what type you bought ?

The beauty with it is it folds away neatly into the garage after the work out as shown in first video.

you should add some vertical support on the wood..

@CrimsonGetsu
No need. The design is based on the same principals as that of a crane.

Yes, everything at Bunnings, but the carabiners were too costly to buy at bunnings, - I picked those up from the Reject shop ($1 each).
