  • FUCK THIS DUMB BITCH

  • My god she is dumb. How does someone like this hold high office? Take your religion and stick it down your republican throat.

  • Either Rep Bachmann never read the decision by the judge, and is ignorant of what it said, or she is deliberately misrepresenting it and lying. Seems xians like to do that a lot

  • Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. Clearly a national day of prayer is not prohibited.

  • We all know what you really mean Michelle: You think your religion is right, so you want to force it on everyone else.

  • Vote Tarryl Clark nov 2 she is some one you can be proud of if you elect her to congress

  • Rep. Bachmann isn't right about her interpretation of either religious clause of the 1st Amendment.

What do you call government declaring a National Day of Prayer other than "establishment of religion"? Government cannot and should not officially support religious practices.

As for free exercise: there's absolutely nothing stopping private citizens from praying. People should decide on their own if & when they pray. The National Day of Prayer, not Judge Crabb's ruling, violates this freedom.

  • "Congress shall make no law to the establishment of religion."

I thought Bachmann was a tea partying, constitutional lover. Oh right, she's a hypocrite.

  • "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

I have NEVER been indicted for praying whenever, or wherever I feel like. A judge does NOT have the AUTHORITY to alter the laws of grammar, or to prohibit me from my inalienable Rights.

  • @joe80dman You said that "A judge does NOT have the AUTHORITY to alter the laws of grammar, or to prohibit me from my inalienable Rights".

What judge is trying to alter grammar or prohibit you from exercising your inalienable rights, and how are they doing that?

  • @oldsmartypants : Well, it started with the Warren Court back in '62 with the Court's OPINION of "church-state separation". Any OPINION of any Court is just that,... An opinion. And an OPINION is not a law. That's why the Supreme Court will always claim, "It is the OPINION of this Court that...".

  • @joe80dman "Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between man and his God,... I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,' thus building a wall of separation between church and State."

-Thomas Jefferson, letter to Danbury Baptist Association, CT., Jan. 1, 1802

  • @oldsmartypants : I've read this particular quote of Jefferson, of which he had several brilliant quotes attributed to him. Again, Jefferson was concerned about any one particular denomination taking over any aspect of government influence, and I agree. I believe most people would agree as well.

  • A "national day of prayer" is as equally unconstitutional as a "national day of no prayer." The existence of either would be indicative of an endorsement by the government.

  • Freedom of religion has been found to include the freedom from religion in daily life and as represented by Government.

How about a National Day of Devil Worshipping?

  • @zippyman818 Don't be such an idiot. If you don't want to participate then DON'T. You are not being forced to do anything. And if you want to participate and pray to the Devil, then feel free.

  • Rock on. Love it.

  • The principal reason that I object to prayers is that this god that Christians pray to is a lecher and a pedophile. Imagine this guy from outer space sending an angel to a young girl with his ejaculate and implanting his seed inside her "bell chose". So there is this young girl flat on her back, legs spread apart and this god does his dirty deed without a proper courtship or even a Valentines' card. Who on Earth would believe this?

  • we don't need prayer, we need ACTION, like bombing iran etc whilst THEY are praying

  • What I find funny about many of the comments here, when people hear the word "religion" they assume "Christianity." Muslims are just as free as Christians to practice their faith and to pray.

  • Is this judge suggesting that everyone before her back to George Washington have completely misunderstood the Constitution, and she does understand it? That in and of itself deserves careful scrutiny.

  • Earth day serves everyone on earth, because we all depend on it for sustenance. A day of prayer respects religion, in precise opposition to the first amendment of The Constitution.

  • TY MB

  • Liberals seem to Dislike the Constitution, the Foundation of the USA.

So they are saying they Dislike their country.

    OK, so then LEAVE!

  • Please do not get my G-d involved in your sleazy politics. G-ds will be done. My right exists wether you lobby for it or not.

  • Michelle Bachmann for President!!!

What a classy & smart lady.

  • @Revelation181 Amen and Amen!

  • we can have earth day, but not a national day of prayer?

  • @94chance94 That seems to be the direction America is taking, just research all of the court cases in which Christians are charged with going against the "Establishment Clause" of the Constitution.Atheists are demanding Christians keep their religion for Sunday and don't do it outside of church.

  • @94chance94

First of all, is the Earth day supported by the government? and if it is. The view that we should take care of our Earth is a view that i think all humans share so we are not excluding any minority with a Earth day.

With a national day of prayer the government is excluding all those who are none believers or have other forms of worship which is discriminating to say the least.

  • @94chance94 Government should not promote any religion. That is what seperation of church and state is. WI just ruled national day of prayer unconstitutional.

  • Its beginnings date back to 1775 when the Continental Congress "designated a time for prayer in forming a new nation," according to ReligiousTolerence. The recognition of our strong and unmistakable Christian heritage continued in the decades to come. For example, on March 3 1863, President Abraham Lincoln signed a Congressional resolution for a day of fasting and prayer during the Civil War. It's also in Wikipedia. obama is the first to refuse, yet he allowed a muslim day of prayer at the WH

  • part 2.... the above was a quote from ztruth . com You can also find these facts in other docs to go along with the forefathers.

  • Respond to this video...Besides, IT SAYS 'NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER....' IT DOESN'T JUST SAY CHRISTIAN, IT IS FOR ALL FAITHS OR not. It's to bring our country together for this day.

ztruth "And in 1952, a bill calling for a yearly National Day of Prayer (NDP) was passed by both houses of Congress unanimously. President Truman signed it into law."

  • @praeeo I don't pray. I don't believe in your god or anyone's god. The national day of prayer violates the first part of the first amendment that says that our government will make no law respecting any religion. ANY religion. Get that? You're wasting my tax dollars debating this hocus pocus.

  • @oldsmartypants Apparently you don't have a clue on the things I posted that are fact. It has nothing to do with a mere governor pushing for this... We have the right to have this day as it's been signed into law by President Truman in 1952. It's your right to not want to participate, but its our right to still have it. You may not believe in God, but reassured, one day you will know the truth.

  • @praeeo @praeeo Apparently you don't understand how our system of laws work. The judge is striking down the law that Truman signed. She has declared it unconstitutional. The decision will, most likely, be appealed and will end up at the SCOTUS. Nothing in the decision prevents you from having your national day of prayer. It only prevents our federal government from sanctioning it, participating in it, and spending taxpayer dollars on it. I want government out of my personal life. You don't?

  • @oldsmartypants I absolutely want the gov't out of my life and not controlling the very air I breathe, but on that note, obama refused to do the national day of prayer last year, but.... he shortly thereafter allowed a Muslim Day of Prayer in DC at the WH. And now... they are wanting to tax CO2 (which we breathe out - so they are not trying to back out of our lives but in fact, are pushing to control everything). Since congress wouldn't pass it, obama is pushing it through the EPA. Not good!

  • @praeeo I'm not sure where you get your facts, but Obama did indeed issue a proclamation designating a National Day of Prayer. And despite your claims, there was no Muslim Day of Prayer.

  • @crmathman Not sure about the Muslim Day of Prayer but Obama was video taped taking off his shoes and kneeling on a prayer mat with other Muslims.I believe

  • @mcap52 That photo was of Obama entering the Blue Mosque in Istanbul. He removed his shoes before entering the building because protocol dictates that visitors remove their shoes.

  • @crmathman Oh really? His first year he did not practice it, but allowed the Muslims to have theirs.

  • @The3RDIDGUY Just because he didn't have a big public ceremony doesn't mean he didn't acknowledge the Day of Prayer. He observed it in private. And despite your claims, there is no Muslim Day of Prayer. What you are referring to is an independently organized prayer service held by Muslims on Capitol Hill. Besides, Obama is defending the National Day of Prayer.

  • @crmathman I'm sorry, I guess 9/25/09 was nothing (especially after he said he didn't agree with OUR NDP).... good to know

  • @praeeo What do you mean by "our" national day of prayer? And, unless you can back up that Obama said he didn't agree with it, your point has little worth.

  • @crmathman Oh yeah. Ok. Dream on cr.

  • The resolution to proclaim Sept. 24, 2009, as Islam Day passed the Senate on a 22-3 vote. It had previously passed the House and now goes to Republican Gov. Linda Lingle.

  • @CalifSunshine2008 Hawaii proclaiming a day as Islam Day doesn't seem to have much of anything to do with a NATIONAL Muslim Day.

  • @crmathman see youtube: National Muslim Day Of Prayer, Wash DC 09.25.09

  • @CalifSunshine2008 Just because there is a YouTube video with that title, doesn't mean there was a National Muslim Day of Prayer.

  • @crmathman There is Islam Day in Hawaii....to honor Obama.

  • @crmathman There is a National Muslim Day in Hawaii.

  • @praeeo You have now changed the subject, and all of your new allegations have no basis in fact. You are amazingly misinformed. You must get your information from FOX or, more likely, from viral emails of dubious origin. The fact that you would accept such tripe as fact is proof that you lack the intellectual curiosity to check facts and you are perfectly willing to accept any meme that fits with your alternate reality and your misguided, highly skewed, world view.

  • @praeeo It just occurred to me that you may be getting your information from Michele Bachmann. That would explain a lot. She has a very tenuous grasp on reality.

  • @praeeo Ah yes, the Evil Obamanation wants to "tax CO2 (which we breathe out - so they are not trying to back out of our lives but in fact, are pushing to control everything)". Thanks for this pathetic rehash of one of Bachmann's stupidest talking points ("how can Co2 be dangerous? we breathe it out all the time!") that has nothing to do with the subject at hand. Also, as oldsmartypants clearly explained, the law was declared unconstitutional by a judge, not by the President.

  • @SoNickPick well, back to you as well... and for your facts or assumptions, I didn't get this from her, but just wait... you'll see what's coming... have a great life

  • @SoNickPick YOU'RE NOT EVEN FROM HERE, SO WHY ARE YOU EVEN BOTHERING TO COMMENT ON OUR BUSINESS ANYWAY....? pointless, just looking to troll, aye?

  • @praeeo You saw right through me: I'm an evil pinko commie canadian troll. Obama has actually diverted most of the budget of the Department of Defence to world wide socialist propaganda and I just happen to head the canadian branch of the Great Socialist International. I'm so glad to be laying the foudation of the New World Order. Soon, we will be coming for your bibles and guns, then we'll force you to drink wine and eat stinky cheeses while poisoning your brains with our propaganda machine.

  • @oldsmartypants Maybe you could explain how praying is making a law respecting a religion.

  • @mcap52 Praying does not make any law. There is a federal law declaring a national day of prayer. Only religious people pray. Therefore, the that law respects established religions, in direct contradiction to the first amendment's "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion..." Once again, there is no prohibition of praying. You can pray to your heart's content, anywhere and any time you please. You just can't waste taxpayer dollars on it.

  • @oldsmartypants : You neglected the other sentence within the 1st Amendment, "... nor prohibit the exercise of". The 1st Amendment prohibits giving preferential treatment to one particular DENOMINATION, not religion in, and of itself. No one is advocating the expenditure of tax dollars for praying. That notion is absurd.

  • @joe80dman "...nor prohibit the exercise thereof" was omitted because no one is talking about prohibition. When congress takes their time to enact a law and when the president takes his time to make a declaration, those things cost money. Tax money pays for their salaries, their time, and all the other adjunct processes that take place in order to enact such declarations and laws. And the 1st amendment refers to "respecting an establishment of religion". Religion being used in the broad sense.

  • How would declaring the National Day of Prayer to be unconstitutional take away any individual's right to exercise his/her religion?

  • @crmathman You're exactly right! Bachmann's lack of ability to think critically is astounding. It amazes me that she has a high school degree, let alone her other degrees. But then, but trying to incorporate religious faith into a rational world will always result in irrationality.

  • Talking points galore, but Rep. Bachmann clearly doesn't understand the First Amendment. A National Day of Prayer is clearly an attempt to establish religion. Removing/overturning the National Day of Prayer does not in any way prohibit anyone's free exercise of religion.

  • Further proof that Michele is an ignorant idiot. She is free to pray until her knees fall off. She can even organize a National Day of Prayer as long as she does so as a private citizen and it is not a government recognized event.

  • Your example should be followed by more elected leaders. Too bad you are not representing California.

  • Thank You!

  • Again, thank you, thank you, thank you, Representative Bachmann!!

  • way to go girl
