  • To those dissing Townshend, Schizophrenia is a mental condition. Schizoids tend to have sexual perversions. It doesn't mean they harm others. Schizoids live almost entirely in a fantasy world inside themselves.

  • The Who is the greatest !!!

  • Yes Townshend was cautioned by police in 2003 for downloading kid porn,he was also placed on the sex register for five years .

  • @joedog281 Get your facts right, dickhead. He paid for access with a credit card to show how easy it was to do. He did not download a thing. He notified the police of his intentions prior to doing this.

  • @costaltabelluno Yeah, he was doing it all for research too. Joedog281 is just ignorant.

  • Looks like we have another paedo supporter here in the name of evilemperordude, the name says everything i need to know.

  • as a who fan and a bass musician...this song has to be the greatest ROCK bass line of all-time...

  • The 12 "Dislikes" on here are all from my neighbors !!! They said something about this song being too Proud !! Or did they say L*O*U*D ?? I`m not sure , I see their lips move , but all I hear is this song !!!

  • John Entwistle...what superb bass in this track !

  • I am getting hate mail from my neighbors here recently !! Something about 3:00 AM in the morning and this song being played W*A*A*A*A*Y*Y*Y* T*O*O*O*O L*O*U*D.

  • THIS.IS.MUSIC.

  • my neighbours listen to great music

whether they like it or not

  • The way the setting sun suddenly blasts into the headlights of his scooter is brilliant.

  • Can you see the real me yet, Lucy?

    Not without the final letter.

This letter can replace the verb in the first sentence of this clue.

Got it? Yay! Now, unscramble the eight letters, and once you have, go to Wattpad. You’re looking for a story, and now you know what the author’s username is!

  • I was on my home when i had to wait for the lights, on my shuffle songs on the ipod this came home, i have not heard it for a while. Later when i got home i decided to watch the film. Seen it about 100 times, never get bored of it. Apart from 40s the 60s are my favourite era i would go back to. I love how the mods dressed, nice to see that fashion coming back again, nice tight fitting suits.

  • this film rocks....go jimmy go .

  • I have never seen the movie, and only last week listened to the album, and I'm glad I found it now instead of later on or earlier, never has a album spoke more personally to me and the shit me and probably alot of my generation and generations before are/have went through. A utter masterclass of perfection and life's insecurities and triumphs has never been summed up better

  • I think the music of the Who is for Mods as Rockers, Hells Angles and all the motherfuckers in the world !

  • moon goes apeshit on this track! between this and "wont get fooled again" at the drum solo and when daltry lets out that massive yell, you just cannot get the volume loud enough.

  • typical from the who!! absolutely top drawer..Whats eurekas problem? get back to the x factor if u dont like real music, bands, people.Keith moon is de man!!!

  • I Love This!!!

  • Is this the real me? Took pills... acid... everyting... explored my mind... i liked. I used to live in a quadrophenic world... still.

  • i wanna die like john entwistle died

  • @gibbon1998 ajajjaja

  • goooosebumps

  • just bought the double album and just love driving around with it on full volume..

  • Hi rocker 9514,no i am not interested in mick jacko, but i do think he was innocent and a great entertainer, unlike your idol Peter Dennis T,i bet you have Gary Glitter records as well, and a scooter.

  • @joedog281 First of all, go fuck yourself. Second, learn English. Your comments are barely coherent.

  • Great Britton at its best, bring it back..

  • if you have a sub woofer on the floor try resting your foot on it. i think my foot almost fell off

  • STILL FOR SALE two Gary Glitter and Peter dennis sew on badges ,Any offer welcome.

  • @joedog281 seriously what the fuck is wrong with you do you even know the whole story about what you're ranting about or are you one of those assholes who just listens to speculations and makes assumptions. You're probably one of the few jackasses who thought Michael Jackson was a pedophile or is it that you're a pedophile yourself

  • My speakers are dancing :O!

  • great song

  • Quadrophenia defined who I was and what I was trying to find when I was a teenager. Listened to this on vinyl as I feel asleep many a days in the early 80s. The real me? Still trying to find it, but am a hell of a lot closer....

  • @2003ultimatemike so true

  • yep its a pitty the cockney prick doesnt go over the edge id of been made up .....instead he just killed his fackin scoo..er ..the facking cant...

  • Jimmy says, "foke-off ya bleetin' Keffer!!" I still don't know what a 'Keffer' is (31 yrs. later...and thousands of Monty Python sketchs). Idk?

Yeah, he does NOT die at the end. You can see him standing on the cliffs as the helicopter does the fly-by shot. He only pitches his scooter, and then I see now that the intro here is what happens after...he walks off.

You see everything he stood for/lived for turned out to be a lie. Girlfriend/friends all dissed him, the 'bellboy' was a poser...

  • Great album - shite film in retrospect. Watch Reign over me with Don Cheadle. Amazing film and the Quadropenia album is in there. Adam Sandler plays a superbly seriously heart breaking part - at one point he tells Don Cheadle - This album changed my life!! Well worth a watch.

  • I'd like to say that's an SX200 but, in all honesty, I'm not totally sure =/

  • i just watched this on tv and i can say that this was not shit it was a good movie and i really liked it lol >D

  • I am Jimmy. 35 years old

  • love the movie and the who <3

  • I think I'm probably alone in disliking the movie- I love the album, and listened to it quite a lot before I finally decided to rent the quadrophenia movie. I'd already been watching 'Tommy ' for years (and love THAT movie), so maybe that skewed by expectations a little- but I guess I was disappointed that the film was less of a musical/rock opera and more just another movie with the who's great album seemingly laid on top of it as a soundtrack.

  • @Darwinsmistake Quadrophenia was a concept album, inside was a booklet with pictures and a small story about Jimmy the mod which later prgressed to a full scale movie, so really the movie was built round the fantastic soundtrack as opposed to what you said. I personally like the film, watched it being made on Brighton seafront.

  • I can't play an instrument but that bass line is out of control. WOW!

  • I would not have Peter up my path, you people are hypocrites, would you watch gary glitter?

  • Good flick.

  • can you see the real me doctor!! (8)

  • Much better bass playing on this version. Fuck Pete. Go John.

  • @TruthAxe But Pete wrote the song

  • @TruthAxe You still hanging about, you're a cunt. Is the legendary Keith Moon's drum playing still too much for you? Fuck off you yank bastard!

  • CAN YA SEE THE REAL ME CAN YAAA

  • @ES183 sad but true

  • I photographed The Who twice in 77. To see the shots go to 70'srockphotos (.com)

  • Excellent movie...out of the ballpark soundtrack!!!!

  • that's one awesome scooter.

  • CAN YOU SEE THE REAL ME, CAN YA CAN YA

  • @beatlesfan751 i dont think they want to see the real u

  • is it me, for a moment...

  • The song starts at 0:50

  • First two words FUCK OFF!! lol

  • oh how i wish i could be back on my tv175 out of my skull on double blues...

  • @beatlesfan751 & 1 person cant grasp that other people have different tastes to him & that their views are equally valid

  • Who ever says bass isn't cool is a fucking liar

  • I first saw this movie in Hs back in 78. It reminded me abit of a trip we took to Italy in 74 Vespa scooters everywhere you look. They would fly arounf those mountains in Naples so fast thst there was no time for brsakes insteasd they wood bbep their horns very loud. If you werea pedastrisan you qould here the vespa blearing out so you got out of the way just in the nick of time.

  • @frank02111 ballroot

  • @frank02111 hey cool story but how did you see it in 78'? the movie didnt come out untill 79' :D

  • @ModSoulbooaI--Oh I made an mistake. The seventys were a crazy decade between the drugs and drinking young I was in a blackout a lot. i never did se the damage it was doing to my brain. I am just glad I amalive and God has led me to the fellowship of AA. I am trying to get well one day at a time now!!

I had a junk Lameretta once. Gave it away. (Someone had left it at my shop)

I rode a Triton rocker bike at the time. For real.

  • I don't think many people do see the "real me" concerning myself and what my needs are!

  • thunderfingers at his best in this one!

  • The greatest opening salvo to any song iv ever heard.

  • @Gruntfuttock100 Check out this band, SUPERLUNGS, who I saw playing a gig with Roger Daltrey! On Brighton Seafront! They are amazing!

    /watch?v=xwKewjd1DD4&feature=related

  • ...all my best wishes to Egypt now....LOL

  • Just awesome. Saw Entwistle in Denver in the mid 90's, best bass player ever. Paul McCartney and Bill Wyman tied for 2nd.

  • Seriously, the bass makes me lose my mind.

  • @eureka3131 the entire rhythm track on this song is SICK! :-D

  • @beatlesfan751

    they must be fucking idiots...

  • John Entwistle: the greatest.

  • watch?v=46CNp89_52Y

  • easily the best rhythm section in the history of rock !

    and im 15 ;)

  • @willywang46 Best Rhythm Section in Rock!...Absolutely, absolute musical brilliance.

  • That album was one of the greatest albums ever made ...

And the intro to the movie is just wow .. I've never actually seen the movie, but after watching that video ... I'm going to get it right now ...

I had no idea that The Who produced that movie o_o wow lol

  • the album is the greatest album of all time bar none, it is not just the greatest album of all time but the greatest piece of music of all time, Pete Townshend is our times Mozart he is unbelievable and such a great film to match. Quadrophenia is unbelievable the way it moves you in so many ways and makes you feel you are Jimmy i love it so much x

  • What a start to a movie...just fabulous...and what music...thanks for posting mate.

  • 7 people need to go back to the doctor.

  • I live in Brighton and when I was at College they were making this film. I remember going to watch the filming during my lunch breaks and seeing Sting and Toyah Wilcox, and Roger Daltrey looking out from the cafe where they were filming. One day I grabbed a parka and ran up the street with the mod crowd during the filming. Much has changed in Brighton since those days but the cafe where the fight scene occured is still there and unchanged.

  • Bellboy Bellboy Bellboy

  • @beatlesfan751

  • @DoctorComics Not in the movie ;D

  • @Eval999 Yes is was

  • @lurvebutter Album, I meant. The movie is losely based on the album.

  • @lurvebutter Album, I meant. The movie is loosely based on the album.

  • @DoctorComics oh good catch

  • @DoctorComics but his generation died before he became old

  • @DoctorComics

If you take a look at the final scene of the film, you notice that Jim's riding along the cliff under a bright blue sky. The opening scene appears to be at sunset. So, did he just hang out on the cliff having his mental breakdown and subsequent epiphany for a few hours after dumping the scooter over the cliff, or what? Just curious.

  • @jennincl I've always heard that the beginning of the movie (Jim walking away from the cliff) is the end of the movie.ie... He throws scooter off cliff and stands there before walking away. The movie begins as a flashback to what lead up to his doing this. Makes sense when you think about it.

  • @AndyKofHB

Yes, I know, but what happens between the time he wrecks the scooter (midday) and when the movie begins (sunset) - that was my question.

  • @DoctorComics Are u sure?

  • @DoctorComics well done you!!

  • KEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

    ITHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

    MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!!

  • zsezse com

  • Superb!

  • LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT!

MUSIC, VOICE, CLIP, SWAGGER! DAMMNNNN THEY GOT SWAGGER!

  • Yes, it's it the first scene in the movie, but it is actually the end. The rest is a retrospective.

  • Listen to the brilliant interplay between Moon and Entwistle. And just when it's so tight you can't believe it, Moon follows the melody for a couple measures instead of the bass, just to fuck with music history's head!

  • Grew up watching this

    we are the mods !

    fucking love it !

  • John Entwistle totally kicked ass on bass for this song. I've been trying to learn the bass tabs for this one for years and I still can't get it lol.

  • @tei2007 Yep--Entwistle's moment as far as I'm concerned. Kind of went without saying till you said it!!

  • best album ever.

  • one of the best albums of all time

  • 0:00 - 0:58 = Oh Man. Oh God.

  • best tune going lovee itttttttt :)

  • RD is still the top bollocks

  • Can you see the real me, can ya? CAN YA?

  • ItalianDanza , you are so stupid , you don't deserve any kind of answer ! Get lost .

  • What groupe does this type of music today ???

  • Comment removed

  • @ItalianDanza infamous means you're famous for a BAD thing. Get a dictionary

  • @ALPEDRIZ none of them that why this music is the best out their

  • I just wish the film were more like the album. Including every track. I was really disappointed when I didn't hear Sea and Sand....

  • Entwistle once said he only played this bass line as a joke. He didn't think anyone would like it because it was so overdone. The rest of the band liked it. He claimed he never got why, but played it for the final take anyway.

  • RIP MR ENTWISTEL....TOPS IN MY BOOK

  • any1 loves this film would love little dean jail forest of dean the mod scooters r from this film stings and jimmys bike amazing stuff mods rule

  • i WANT TO GET A WESPA G.S BE A MOD LIKE JIMMY. Here in Boston they got a helmet law that kind of spoils the whole fantasy. Can I be a mod in the 21st century wearing a fuckin helmet?

  • @frank02111

Maybe the mod of the 22st century will wear a space helmet.

  • @frank02111 Good luck finding the Wespa store.

  • @frank02111 get a mod helmet.

  • @frank02111 Get a helmet with a target on the front

  • As many times as the Who played this song, I don't think they every played it the same way twice. Entwistle, restless master musician that he was, certainly never did. Unlike other Pop groups they improvised a lot -- more like a jazz group.

    Thanks for posting!

  • nothing beats that feeling on a scooter, this scene captures it..... perfectly :D

  • i love how the end of the movie...... is at the start!!!!

  • fucking awesome

  • at least they used the real album, instead of like in tommy, used some new soundtrack that wasn't as good.

  • the bass in this never ceases to amaze me

  • so so beautiful the Who for ever and ever!!!!!thanks for posting!!!!

  • This is one of twenty songs in my top 5.

  • bronco bullfrog and quadrophenia..... toute une époque..... clément the dreamer

  • Every time I ride my scooter, I just have this song looping in my head :D

  • one of the best bass songs ever

  • @weeszel You ain't kiddin' Weeszel. I'm proud of the fact I can stumble thru this song and play it. The solo in 5:15 is So amazing too. Funny thing is Pete used to plead to the Ox to solo in 5:15. It's so cool, there's a cam mounted on the Buzzard bass and John looks so bored, like it's just another day at the office. Long live the Who..LONG LIVE THE OX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Quadropheia is like a mod bible

but it is a film so how that work but it still is

    WE ARE THE MODS

  • the bass! oh man!!!!!!! its aaaaaah! fantastic!!!

  • What A Classic
