Gotta agree with JamesTKirkCobain. Kenneth McMillian was a natural actor. In DUNE and RAGTIME as well as so many others, McMillian was the consumate part of a movie. I often wonder what happend to actors who have done small parts in movie, like the bar tender or the summons officer in this movie. Where did they go?!!
When Geraldine Page confronts the two officers, she reminds me totally of my maternal grandma, Catholic wife of a Great Lakes stevedore. The highballs and cigs got to her, multiple cancers. Oddly, I learned from my hardworking family to think outside the box, but never remembering their blue collar mentality. Uprated. Very good posting.
Frank Vincent took Paulie's thumb, but he got his in Goodfellas when Joe Pesci took him out when he called for his shinebox. Vincent was also great in Casino. He is always a mobster 'cause that's where he grew up.
Paulie was a fuckup all the way. Left his finger prints is the only reason this theft didn't go off without a hitch. The hitch was Paulie. Making cheese? Tough! The Gargosous never sold a tough piece of cheese in their lives. Pride in their product. They did a Bedbug Eddie number on him. 'THEY TOOK MY THUMB!" That racetrack scene was shot at Garden State Raceway outside Camden, New Jersey.
I agree with TkirkCobain about Ken McMillan...some actors are just born to it...Ken never pushed, showed,or made excuses for the characters he played...he just was...people who don't understand acting don't understand how hard it is to do what this man did...just like I can't understand what Mozart did??
Kenneth McMillan has to be or had (he died) to be one of the most natural born actors that ever lived. I can`t think of one movie that guy ever did where he came across like he was acting. He was just brilliant, he made Nicholson and Brando seem like amateurs. Give him a role and the guy was just "it"....right there in the pocket every time.

the "mootserella" conversation is classic. The two best parts Eric Roberts played is this one and the husband in Star 80.

Eric Roberts is another, just incredible acting. I mean my god, I can`t even think of two people who can act that scared.
