Something has to be done and it has draged on long enough. 9 years waiting for a new stadium is not acceptable for the size of Liverpool FC and the fan base and history that comes with it.
King Kenny has stepped upto the plate along with that players, we have our first silverware in 6 years and its now time for the new owners to step up to the plate and make a decision, new stadium or rebuild? just make a decision and write a cheque. we are losing £2-£3m every home game compared to our rivals.
THE PLANS FOR THIS STADIUM DESIGN HAS NOW BEEN ABANDONED BY FSG. LIVERPOOL FC WILL NOW BE USING THEIR ORIGINAL PLAN FROM 9 YEARS AGO AS BASIS TO CREATE THE NEW STADIUM. WHETHER THIS IS THE SAME DESIGN OR A MODIFIED VERSION WE'LL EVENTUALLY FIND OUT SOON.
All of the nostalgics crying for a classic Anfield redevelopment don't understand that it's not viable and will cost the same as building from scratch! Whether this or some other draft: LFC must get a ground nailed down at this very spot! What is your problem people, all of that sentimental drivel is whinging on a high level: It's the same quarter, the same people, same site, just modernized, safer, more comfort & more revenue! This will boost the prestige of LFC, the quarter and the whole city!
@MrMarmeladeSky i get what you're saying, i just don't want this to be like when arsenal left highbury. the emirates, while bigger, is just not the same
@10YNWA10 Fair enough - must be considered when a new stadium will be done, but shape alone doesn't make it a lifeless bowl. Highbury was a proper ground and crowd, I guess, but it's nothing like Anfield's mentality is and will be.
@MrMarmeladeSky i'd just like to see it look a bit more like the old anfield. not sure if you're familiar with american baseball, but when the yankees left their old stadium with a ton of history, they build a new one that looked very similar. inside the stadium, you could hardly tell the difference, except that it had more seats, was up to code, etc. none of the atmosphere was lost. this is what i would like to see liverpool do
@10YNWA10 Interesting point, but it'll be hardly feasible: Anfield is a legendary ground, but it bears way too many obstructed views, suboptimal sightlines, minimal legroom/concourse, distances to the pitch are too narrow, corporate/prime seats & boxes/hospitality are needed : A new ground will change to modern needs and regulations of stadium construction today, so it won't ever be the same, but that certainly means it can be done better than the current HKS design!! Or is AFL for worse?
@MrMarmeladeSky im not saying it has to be a carbon copy, just that they should do everything they can to make it as similar as possible while fixing all the problems you just mentioned
And by these plans, we're wasting sooo much room in the stadium!!!! Look at the humongous window and the ginormous Liverpool emblem plaque on the other side!!!!
The small temporary away stand is the stand where the extra 10k or so seats will go in two tiers. Its foundation is being laid with the rest of the stadium. Below the fourth stand is the location of the loading dock and storage. At a later date that stand can be built quickly without dirt flying. But that won't happen until the transit issues are solved.
This design is very unique, unlike the others bowls being built. The steepness of the stands will meet British code.
The stands are too steep, by the looks of it. Hope nothing bad happens if they don't repair it, we could have another disaster to deal with. The stands just don't look right, I've always agreed with re-furbishing Anfield, I don't get why we're chucking all of the history out!
Looks like some 80s style Yank stadiumor a new shopping centre..Keep Anfield, most of the area around the ground needs redevelopment anyway..So lets keep this site and preserve the ground,a lot of our football history is being lost in these new sites,Highbury,Maine rd,etc..Stay at Anfield
@SpeedTriple59 You hopefully do understand that the site is just a few metres away from Anfield, it will include a broadened Anfield Road for better traffic, more parking and Anfield is supposedly meant to become a vivid plaza, one could build a passenger bridge to connect old and new Anfield sites
Although this was produced by HKS I really like the design. Hopefully, LFC will be able to stay at Anfield but I would love it if these features could be encorporated into the redevelopment; An extended kop perhaps extended to 18000 - 20000 seats. This would be on a par with that of the old standing capacity of the stand and once again suck the ball into the back of the net due to its over-powering presence. A redeveloped main stand to perhaps 3 tiers and possibly matching an extended centenary.
in my opinion liverpool will redvelop anfield, but i have allways liked these stadium designs, but the corners should be filled with seats becauase i will garantee the people of liverpool and the local anfield scallys will find a way to look through them corners of the ground which is glass haha, this stadium is very intimidateing and looks like a star trek space ship has landed on stanley park...
And, what are they doing with the old Anfield then? Selling it to Everton or something? Gonna take a few years changing out all the seats or painting them blue..
@JAbianconero Aquilani is worth 13m, He has been your best player this season and if you dont want to pay a cheap price for him then we would happily take him off your retarded hands you Juve prick
@scouserdoyle If you think he is our best player then you probably haven't heard of Krasic. Why would we pay 13m for a player that has one great match and is completely lost in the following five games. And he is playing like this because he is in the Serie A, take him back to the Premier League and you will see the same Aquilani you saw last year. In fact he should return simply because he is a mediocre player for a mediocre team.
@JAbianconero Mediocre team ROFL how can you say these things when your team is .... Wait for it .... 7th in the .... Italian league .. rofl really i knew you where a retard but i didn't think you where that retarded. Krasic yeah i agree he is your best player but apart from him Aquilani is your 2nd best player and the rest of your team is shit. If Juve was in the prem they would be in the relegation fight fact!!! Next season we will be back in the champions league.
@scouserdoyle yes 7th place you are right but take closer look whose position is better. most likely milan or inter will win the italian cup, so the 7th place is ours for europa league. birmingham city won the league cup so they are in europa league next year, and either bolton or stoke are playing the fa cup final against city or united so one of them will be in the europa league next season. for you to get into europe you need to finish above tottenham and I dont see that happening.
@JAbianconero Tbh we could finish above spuds because there run in is alot harder than our's and we still have to play them so im sure we can finish 5th and if city continue to fuck up then we could nick 4th and i still cant believe you think our team is mediocre our 1st 11 is as good as anyones in the league but our subs and reserves are shite and thats why we will spend big in the summer, we have alot more money than you may think!
it looks gorgeous better than the original plan. its unique it still has the famous kop stand. Its wat the club deserves it will generate the revue needed to keep up with the other clubs. the atmosphere in the ground will be amazing cus the croud would be fired up. we need to update ourselves and this is the way to go.
The outside shell of the stadium could be changed using different building materials to appear similar to Anfield. With the stands themselves HKS has wonderfully designed this stadium to sit majestically in the park. This stadium will generate the revenues required to keep up with other clubs. Plus this stadium is designed to be enlarged at a later date up to 75k+ seating capacity.
How about LFC lobby the FA to incorporate safe standing like Borrusia Dortmunds ground. Its what the fans want and its long overdue. We've just lost our ground. 139 years at Saltergate and now its gone. Its ripped the soul out of the club for me.
god i hate dat fucking song , so anoying . there gonna have to knock smelly old anfield if they want to build dis , theyl have to reuse the rubble from anfield to make the foundations for this thing . dont worry liverpool fans , history can be remade , although it'll take a lot longer in your case hahahahahah , ye are shit
is there no way of upgrading Anfield to the level of that stadium? the thought of Anfield, which has been the soul of LFC for near 120 years being demolished is nightmarish, bribe the council, protest, whatever, but Anfield must remain!
why didn't build a stadium just like Anfield but instead make it almost twice as big.
It would be a huge deal because all the new stadiums are built like bowls, in 10 years "new Anfield" could be the only one in a classic english manner.
It could be more up to date with all the comfort and luxery that this propose for a stadium would provides.
Just because Anfield is placed to central to expand there is nothing that says that you can't build a better and bigger copy in stanley park.
the stadium is perfect-the most impressive i've ever seen but,can you answer 2 question? 1) How will you built it, as you are in front of bankruptcy? 2) Has anybody heard the estimated cost and timeline of the construction, cause i'm really curious... greetings from greece and wishes for the best/( i am olympiakos and we built our own arena in 2004)
Absolutely fuckin disgusting! Nothing like Anfield, there will be no atmosphere generated in this soulless, ugly abomination! Anyone who wants to leave Anfield is not a true Liverpool fan and if you would willingly swap Anfield for the stadium in this video, then you will rot in hell! We need to extend Anfield, you can't knock it down for fuck sake!
Looks Awesome and very modernistic because of its irregular shape and lot of glass. But I think here wont be so good atmosphere like on Anfield. I like irregular shapes and this one looks fantastic. You could be very proud.
At 37 to 39 seconds there was a image of this stadium filled with people. The design is so breath taking some corporation will want to buy its stadium naming rights. While it may not be the largest stadium, without any doubt in my mind this stadium will be the BEST...
Looks like a modern art museum appropriately sitting in a park to me. Four individual different looking stands all wrapped up into one beautiful stadium. The huge Kop is up front and center like a symphony stage in a symphony hall. HKS are the best.
@dannygoller. This expandable HKS design is the one will be built. The bowl shape similar to others was the first design. The stand opposite the Kop will be built to 60k, with aspirations of reaching up to 73k-75k. Transit will have to be addressed before expansion.
The design is incredible. It harks back to traditional British stadium design in that the stands are of an asymmetrical nature, but is also highly modernistic, particularly the frontage of the new Kop ( 18k seats in a steep rake should make for a massively intimidating atmosphere too). With both traditional and modern elements it's very individual and makes the Emirates look conservative and generic, and Old Trafford look ugly and archaic. We just need men at the top who can get it built.
I had similar affections to our old stadiums too. However, those affections were wiped out by a new wonderful and beautiful stadium with all of the new amenities. Simply put, I like the wider concourses, the video screens, more concessions, more restrooms, the larger stadium store and museum, the sports club and restaurant. Most likely you will too, despite your affections to the old stadium. Its the same with other buildings, libraries, schools, churches, court houses, and retail stores...
Emirates built to 60k. Tottenheim wants 55k. LIverpool plans to build to 60k with aspirations up to 75k. 60k competes better than 45k, 75k competes better than 60k.
A new stadium at 60k is 15k more than 45k, which should generate 33 percent more income if the seats sold for the same price. A new stadium at 75k is 30k more than 45k, which should generate 67 percent more income if the seats sold for the same price. They only have consent to build to 60k now, but in the future with a new rail station they aspire to 73k-75k. At 60k, the stand opposite the KOP will be built small. That stand will grow to a two tier stand at 75k. The first 55k seater was struck.
ive got tbh i dnt like it at all! it looks uneven, and like an old stadium trying to look new, and how small is that other end? it should be 3 stands in a continual fashion (rounded corners) with 3 small tiers, that way we can add additional tiers if we want 2 expand it in the future! with a new and bigger kop (like on here) as the focul point of the ground! and it should be 60,000-70,000 capacity! not 55,000! how can we compete with utd, real n barca with a ground hardly bigger than anfield?
The floodlights will probably be hung under the roof, as if the stadium was an indoor arena. Anfield will be demolished to make room for a mixed used development. Most likely office, hotel/condos, restaurants and bars, and retail, along with possibly a multi-story car park. At Anfield, this development will be a one block development, not several blocks like Victory Park in Dallas. Despite Hick's Rangers sell, HSG is keeping some of the prime Arlington real estate for his Glory Park development.
I dont want to be picky, but where are the floodlights? I take it that Liverpool will play some of their matches after the sun has gone down.
That aside, this is a terrific stadium. I say we must keep Anfield for memorial purposes and training. I couldnt bare to see the bulldozers tear down something so steeped in folklore and history, like what happened at Highbury.
Anfield, Highbury, Wembley towers ecc.ecc. Why?!? Those are monuments! International Monuments! You're becoming yankees... Stadiums like commercial center, majorettes, cinema, pop-corn. Always sitting down. Once a time you really were the best. Miss you Old british football and fans.
i'm with you on that one RedTuscany, always sed anfield shud just be made bigger! a horrible comparison as it is to make but we shud be doing what the mancs have done! build our current ground bigger! theyve made it work; old twatford is a perfect mix of tradional, modernised and large capacity! we shud not be gettin rid of the kop! i'd love 2 see anfield up ther with the biggest stadiums in the world! we do need it bigger tho, no disputin that! not just 4 money but so it can make more noise!
SOS has only one agenda, WIN NOW! Buy players! Never a thought about long term goals or whether the club posts a profit this year. The club last year led the league tables for almost the whole year, but that isn't good enough. LOL.
Notice that Standard Chartered who bought the shirt rights did so over 4 years, not up front. Neither will the stadium sponsor. Nor has the club owners. Debt will be paid with increased revenues over time...
sorry to liverpool fans but this stadium looks pants. trying to create a unique stadium design together with the 'kop' feature with no tiers on one side makes this look like a collage of ideas. just go with one theme and stick with it and things will look much more beautiful. arsenal for example maintaing a continental feel.
In the next few months when a large corporation provides half the funds to build this beautiful world class stadium, those unbelievers will have to eat crow. Maybe those American owners know a bit more about marketing the British don't...
stunning peice of designing, its a shame that we have some fucking useless owners with no money, and a shitty manager who has not a clue what he is doing. I MEAN READING!! READING FOR FUCK SAKE!!
i believe ts ugly, got to be mad to support this idea. anfield is liverpools home and they should never uproot the club from where it was born. but as fans, the ones at the top wont listen to our voices.
thank you....finally someone tends to agree....i feel like everyone has this new obsession with this new stadium and fails to recognize the fact that our roots will be torn up....do we really want to follow in the footsteps of the arsenals and the chelseas? i want to bring my kids to anfield and say this is where i used to watch football matches, i feel like this new stadium will be sterile, have no life
i dnt rly want a move away from anfield either, we shud fight more 2 get it built bigger! we do need a bigger ground tho we simply cnt compete with the likes of utd, barca, real n chelsea 4 the best players with wa wer generatin! footballs changd over the last 20 years but we havnt enuf n luk wats happend in that time- utd hav caught us up on league titles! shanks changed traditions n old ways that wer holdin us bak so we cud be the best, maybe we shud agen, no1 wants 2 but no sacrifice no glory
i was on the fence about this issue until i thought about it and realized that after they build this stadium they are going to tear down the original....can u really watch them tear down a stadium that has held all of our club's memories? all of the club's blood, sweat, and tears have been held in anfield, and watching wrecking crews come through and just wipe it out would be heartbreaking
lovely stadium plan i hope we get it very soon cos the leg room at anfield is worse than most other stadiums in premiership but the crowd is the best our knees dig in to the seat infront worse than a plane.
The stadium is great, a new innovation, the future of Liverpool Football Club starts here. Yes, Anfield has memories but so will the new place once we achieve honours. Remember history that was achieved at Anfield will now always be history, a memory, never forgetten... the memories live with the club forever. But the club moves on.
were loosing our history, heritage, our football culture in england. id rather have the hooligan area than what were going to have in the future. money isnt everything.
Im a passionate West Ham supporter but Id also see West Ham play in lower leagues than to leave Upton Park. The club is rooted in this area. For me and for lots of others these things are important, but unfortunately this is the minority.
then it should remain like it is. is this really the price to pay for succes? i d rather see west ham in lower leagues than to leave upton park, honestly i would! Rather be on 20th place and get crashed by chelsea every season. west ham is upton park it has been so for 100 years. This greed for money destroys football. OUR STADIUMS ARE BRITISH CULTURE like Shakespeares Globe Theathre or whatever, we have to save it !!!
by the way congrats for sacking this fat mug benitez, thats a way to new sucess and to get ahead fkin manutd, i really support liverpool for that. unbelievable that this didnt happen before. His record: 1CL (ok), 1FACup, been 5th, 4th, 7th in the league recently. crazy scousers!!!
I agree with you...I'm Arsenal fun, but still... if they decide to build a new stadium that would be biggest mistake ever, because Liverpool is one of the most successful clubs in England and honestly I like a lot old Anfield :)
@prcnbabo There is no room for exetention at Anfield, and with out a new stadium liverpol will not be able to create enough revenue to stay competative for the future, its vital we move, and they have kept liverpools soal in there with thie inclusion of the kop, i love the design and hopefully means i wont be waiting 5 years for a season ticket.
yaeh even if i reagrd only the architectural point of this <building< i dont like it. and i cant put up with watching football in stadiums like this, and to my mind we have to keep traditional architecture in england generally, i mean glass is good for the enrgy of buildings and everything, but nowadays buildings look to cold and futuristic. why do we refurbish theaters, but cant refurbish or rebuild existing stadiums? unfortunately football became such a business
im west ham, and believe me i would put up with everything to remain in upton park and not to move to some ugly new olympic stadium. rather play in lower leagues.... it wouldn't be WEST HAM when we move from our roots.
We have to save our stadia until its too late, they are british culture for gods sake!!!!
i dont like it, it doesnt look like a stadium and its just not a real footbal stadium but more a box of glass with 4 ugly tribunes. i'm sorry to say but it is just my opinion.
Appears the economy is rebounding. H&G have put the new stadium back on their agenda. The sooner its built the better for any future greatness on the pitch. Hopefully, it will be built in three years or so. Probably 12-13 or 13-14 season.
what the hell happen with the arquitects right now, why mostly new stadiums are like a spaceships, england specially have very nice stadiums, old ok but very nice. I prefer the old school
Something has to be done and it has draged on long enough. 9 years waiting for a new stadium is not acceptable for the size of Liverpool FC and the fan base and history that comes with it.

Its ripped the soul out of the club for me.

is there no way of upgrading Anfield to the level of that stadium? the thought of Anfield, which has been the soul of LFC for near 120 years being demolished is nightmarish, bribe the council, protest, whatever, but Anfield must remain!
MrNightwind 1 year ago
why didn't build a stadium just like Anfield but instead make it almost twice as big.
It would be a huge deal because all the new stadiums are built like bowls, in 10 years "new Anfield" could be the only one in a classic english manner.
It could be more up to date with all the comfort and luxery that this propose for a stadium would provides.
Just because Anfield is placed to central to expand there is nothing that says that you can't build a better and bigger copy in stanley park.

what of that two plans/versions of the new stadium will be the new Anfield?
^^this one or the other video???
dannygoller 2 years ago
@dannygoller. This expandable HKS design is the one will be built. The bowl shape similar to others was the first design. The stand opposite the Kop will be built to 60k, with aspirations of reaching up to 73k-75k. Transit will have to be addressed before expansion.
SeaToby11 2 years ago
The design is incredible. It harks back to traditional British stadium design in that the stands are of an asymmetrical nature, but is also highly modernistic, particularly the frontage of the new Kop ( 18k seats in a steep rake should make for a massively intimidating atmosphere too). With both traditional and modern elements it's very individual and makes the Emirates look conservative and generic, and Old Trafford look ugly and archaic. We just need men at the top who can get it built.
5overlord 2 years ago 2
I had similar affections to our old stadiums too. However, those affections were wiped out by a new wonderful and beautiful stadium with all of the new amenities. Simply put, I like the wider concourses, the video screens, more concessions, more restrooms, the larger stadium store and museum, the sports club and restaurant. Most likely you will too, despite your affections to the old stadium. Its the same with other buildings, libraries, schools, churches, court houses, and retail stores...
SeaToby11 2 years ago
fuck off, you are no Liverpool fan - you are a disgrace!
KopiteP250505 1 year ago
Emirates built to 60k. Tottenheim wants 55k. LIverpool plans to build to 60k with aspirations up to 75k. 60k competes better than 45k, 75k competes better than 60k.
SeaToby11 2 years ago
A new stadium at 60k is 15k more than 45k, which should generate 33 percent more income if the seats sold for the same price. A new stadium at 75k is 30k more than 45k, which should generate 67 percent more income if the seats sold for the same price. They only have consent to build to 60k now, but in the future with a new rail station they aspire to 73k-75k. At 60k, the stand opposite the KOP will be built small. That stand will grow to a two tier stand at 75k. The first 55k seater was struck.
SeaToby11 2 years ago
ive got tbh i dnt like it at all! it looks uneven, and like an old stadium trying to look new, and how small is that other end? it should be 3 stands in a continual fashion (rounded corners) with 3 small tiers, that way we can add additional tiers if we want 2 expand it in the future! with a new and bigger kop (like on here) as the focul point of the ground! and it should be 60,000-70,000 capacity! not 55,000! how can we compete with utd, real n barca with a ground hardly bigger than anfield?
2005Liverpool5x 2 years ago
The floodlights will probably be hung under the roof, as if the stadium was an indoor arena. Anfield will be demolished to make room for a mixed used development. Most likely office, hotel/condos, restaurants and bars, and retail, along with possibly a multi-story car park. At Anfield, this development will be a one block development, not several blocks like Victory Park in Dallas. Despite Hick's Rangers sell, HSG is keeping some of the prime Arlington real estate for his Glory Park development.
SeaToby11 2 years ago
I dont want to be picky, but where are the floodlights? I take it that Liverpool will play some of their matches after the sun has gone down.
That aside, this is a terrific stadium. I say we must keep Anfield for memorial purposes and training. I couldnt bare to see the bulldozers tear down something so steeped in folklore and history, like what happened at Highbury.

i'm with you on that one RedTuscany, always sed anfield shud just be made bigger! a horrible comparison as it is to make but we shud be doing what the mancs have done! build our current ground bigger! theyve made it work; old twatford is a perfect mix of tradional, modernised and large capacity! we shud not be gettin rid of the kop! i'd love 2 see anfield up ther with the biggest stadiums in the world! we do need it bigger tho, no disputin that! not just 4 money but so it can make more noise!
2005Liverpool5x 2 years ago
SOS has only one agenda, WIN NOW! Buy players! Never a thought about long term goals or whether the club posts a profit this year. The club last year led the league tables for almost the whole year, but that isn't good enough. LOL.
Notice that Standard Chartered who bought the shirt rights did so over 4 years, not up front. Neither will the stadium sponsor. Nor has the club owners. Debt will be paid with increased revenues over time...
SeaToby11 2 years ago
sorry to liverpool fans but this stadium looks pants. trying to create a unique stadium design together with the 'kop' feature with no tiers on one side makes this look like a collage of ideas. just go with one theme and stick with it and things will look much more beautiful. arsenal for example maintaing a continental feel.

i was on the fence about this issue until i thought about it and realized that after they build this stadium they are going to tear down the original....can u really watch them tear down a stadium that has held all of our club's memories? all of the club's blood, sweat, and tears have been held in anfield, and watching wrecking crews come through and just wipe it out would be heartbreaking

I dont like you but to be honest your club is the most succesfull and one of the greates clubs in england and the world. The club will loose its soul.
