April Fools on everyone involved. In the almost eight years since flash mobs were a fresh cultural phenomenon they since have been co-opted by corporations, eulogized in print, assimilated by the Glee Borg (w/ a dance number set in of a – GASP – shopping mall) and finally trickled down to the retail environment. Like George Romero's Dawn of the Dead, this brings the braindead home: Hip buzz trends (flash mobs, zombie walks, yarn bombing, fake prom, BYOBW etc) value conformity, not spontaneity.

@jamesnorth2011 I was in the flash mob and it was a lot of fun. It was actually for a school project and was planned in a month and most people learned it online.. so overall I think it was awesome. Obviously flash mobs aren't a new phenomenon but we all had fun so that's ALL that matters!! So maybe you should try getting out more because clearly you have nothing better to do that sit on your ass and talk shit about people who are having harmless fun.. just sayin' :)
