  • (COUGH!)

    Kelly Jones?

  • i am the only one who thinks that her face doesn't fit her voice..or the other way arround..i aspected i guess, a much softer sopranna..when i first opened this before she opened her mouth to sing :P

  • Nice voice, might be an improvement on Celine Dion songs, but girl you chose a Shirley Bassey song, when you do that or any other song she even covered you set yourself up for failure. maybe if you would have sung it in italian.

  • kath...oh my sweet kath.....

  • Wow!!!

  • KATHERINE !!!!!! LOVE YOU FOREVER AND FOREVER LOVE YOU WITH ALL MY HEART!!!!

  • what a fantastic musical journey this interpretation is, amazing arrangement!

  • Fcuk me, she murders that song

  • great for upload!!!

  • This gal is unbelievable. I just hope the new JE in the USA does not copy her repitore, I am sure she will. I won't buy her CD if she does not fair.

  • OH shut up already all that vibrato gets annoying after awhile, even when she says i love you, i feel like shut up and just say it normally

  • love katherine and most of her songs... but there was no need to make this an opera song....

only shirley bassey and mary from x factor can do this song justice

  • She sings this amazingly :')

  • I like this version but for different reasons Mary on X Factor put pasion and emotion in it better than a lot of versions I have seen. This, Mary, Tom and Shirleys are the best.

  • she makes it look effortless

  • I wish I knew how to play the harp...

  • she´s perfect

  • Is this opera?! No wonder I hate. At first it sounds like she's singing and gargling. Beautiful girl, but I'm not exactly in love with her voice. I definitely prefer Shirley Bassey's version. No offense.

  • @holycowmania I hope you took 12harby's approval before commenting...otherwise you might have to wash your fingers (and maybe your mouth) for being negative towards such a super duper operatic version that blows every other away. :p

  • Catherine Jenkins is a fine opera, and a great singer. Probably one of the best of our century. I sing since childhood, and can tell when someone has a great music talent.

  • If the critics of Katherine would bother to close their eyes and actually listen to her you would find a lot of emotion in her beautiful voice.

I like Shirley Bassey and would never criticise her singing or performances.

She is a very popular singer and performer and her singing of I who had nothing

Was fantastic. One of the best renditions I have heard and of course Tom Jones version.

  • I believe you are right, romeo 1940. Probably her serene and her striking looks are debit to often unjustified criticism.

Fortunately she is still going strong and one of these days I cross the ditch and watch one of her performances. I listened to other mezzo's but KJ, to me, belongs to the best of them.

  • Katherine Jenkins has a magnificent voice that is classically trained and like a concert pianist she has to make absolutely sure that every note is pure.

If you are Bono, Mick Jagger etc. you can let rip, make a few mistakes, and hardly any critique is made, ever!

  • Forgive me for being harsh, but this rendition is just crap. It is a soul-less performance by a classically trained singer, who is extremely far from the actual aesthetics of the song. It's like listening to the equivalent of Queen Elizabeth singing "I, who has nothing"...it just doesn't fit, regardless her technical capability.

  • @sontalify Absolute rubbish ,Katherine puts imense emotion into everytrhing she sings .

  • @12harby

Sorry my friend but it's obvious that you are either a groupie or work for their management. Either way, I really don't care.

  • @sontalify iam just a fan from NewZealand ,Ido not think Katherine needs any member of her team to push for her on You Tube .Now there is some so called so called cross over singer from New Zealand whose team feel they have to push for her all the time .

As for Katherine ,if you do not like her why not pass by . You do not seem to like her ,so why tarry here

  • @12harby Maybe because Youtube allows you to comment on a rendition that you have found while searching for your beloved song. She might be an exceptional singer in opera or classical field, but in here she just demonstrates her inability to express fully the emotional requirements of the song. Compare this "dry" performance to that of Shirley Bassey and is like day and night. Simple as that.

  • @sontalify Oh I think Katherine has proved she is capable of singing more than just classical songs , you may not like her but many many of us like her for being able to sing numerous genre of music.,as well as her glorious voice .

Of course that is why she is famous , a world famous Canadian American record producer thinks she is the best ,I will take his word before yours and I know he is right .I will leave it at that .

  • @12harby Take it easy and -let me repeat it- don't act like another groupie of your favorite singer. I tend to believe my own ears and preferences instead of those of "famous" producers, who are just listeners like you and me. "Best" in art is a damn subjective term, so better not use it as an argument. For the record, there are songs which can be perfect for classically trained singers and other that just don't suit them at all. I still prefer Jones or Bassey's performance every day. Sorry!

  • @sontalify No u in favourite ! Mr d. Foster has helped make famous -Buble(a favourite) ,Groban, Dion and many more I`d listen to him before you .

Shirley was one of my great favourites .Sorry not Jones .

We have another of my favourites here in N.Z. a young lass cqlled Yulia Townsend -super cross over contralto .

Do not say because Kj is classicaly trained she cannot do her own versions of other songs -how boring ,some are better than others but hey her versitility is unique .

  • @12harby Hopeless!

  • @sontalify Thanks.

  • wonderful!

  • change work blondie!

  • OMG! That sucked ! No emotion in the song at all, she just sang it. IMHO she ruined it.

    FAIL*

  • lololol!!! she was too "perfect" and operatic. but agreed, this was a lame rendition.

    ttyl

    -NessaVanessa

  • No passion, just a technical rendition of this extraordinary song. Simply a gorgeous girl who is easily marketable, a good voice admittedly but with zero personality.

  • oh my goddddddd her voice is incredible!!!!!!!!! and she's so pretty

  • She shows no emotion whatsoever in this pefromance. There is no drive, no passion.

It's like she's reading the words for the first time, and doesn't know the meaning of the song.

Shirley Bassey and Tom Jones sing this like they mean every word. That's what counts in a performance of a song.

    K, I'm done.

  • I think katerine jenkins is wonderful!!!

  • God this is bad...like remaking Gone with the Wind...what's the point...Bassey was on the money.

  • fabulous arrangement - Katherine uses her fantastic voice to sing this with so much drama and feeling

  • Katherine is a very very beautiful woman

  • To be honest - I agree with many of the comments below.

Katherine is indeed stunningly gorgeous, underpant meltingly luscious (okay, I'll get off that topic now) and has a beautiful voice for opera.

But she really doesn't suit this song or even put her heart into it. Now, Tom Jones's rendition of this extremely moving, emotional song is a totally different matter..he really feels the song!!

  • "I (Who Have Nothing)"

NO, Ms. Jenkins, you have considerably more than the average human female.

Femininty, beauty, figure, youth, talent, a sucessful career and money in the bank to name a few.

I REALLY could tell you about having nothing!

I am fat, ugly, unemployed and have never had`nookie and yet you don't hear me singing (in a flat voice) about it, do you???

The only consolation is the imagery of Katherine will help me go and "Punch the Munchkin" for the umpteenth time.

  • LOLOLOL

    You are funny.

    zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZ

Like watching a Stepford Wife trying to recite Shakespeare.

The UK has Shirley Bassey - whats wrong with them!!!!

  • ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • She's just bad... don't let the vibrato fool you... even for opera this is horrible. She's just pretty.

  • You're totally right. She is horrible by all means. She can't reach the opera limits. She might be almost good for these pop song but that's it.

  • GOOD SONg she can sing lol

  • This is bad. She seems disconnected.

  • She has a mesmerizing voice, but she doesn't have enough expression to sing it.

  • ace

  • no, dear. Stick to opera. Leave this to Shassey.

  • She's a very beautiful woman with a pretty voice, but I'm not really that into her "artistry". Still, this song is so great that it is very difficult to ruin it. :)

  • wtf its rubbish

  • let see you sing

  • i thought her voice was diffrent!!

  • WTF????

  • Shes needs to sing with more emotion because it's a very emotional song!

  • xx xx

  • Ridiculous. Stick to opera. Ridiculous.

  • Uhm....she kind of sucks.

  • Agreed ... she's got a voice suited for opera. This song doesn't go on her.

  • i love this song, n katherine, she is amazing at singing n i think she sings this song perfecto n no one can beat her! and that note at the end lol! n she is only young!

  • i love it.

    x

  • LMAO She sounds like the cowardly lion...

  • haha ur right!!! x

  • I guess I have just been spoiled by Shirley . . .

  • gorgeous girl, but it sounded like the song was being sung under water.

  • I don't feel this is the right kind of song for her.

She has one trick, and it's opera! Which isn't a bad thing...

This song really should be belted though...it almost sounds like a joke with this opera - like voice with it.

    She's pretty though!

  • very well done, I prefer Shirley's version

  • absolutely gorgeous.

  • sorry..but this song needs to be sung with so much more passion...not just a great voice... Shirley owns it and Jordin nailed it....

  • wow, i liked shirley bassey sooooo much better.

  • Shirley Bassey is AMAZING. I like Katherine, but Shirley does own this song.

  • @MizzLynn1687 thats because shirley bassey isnt an opera singer,

  • Super, she is so good.

  • so luvly, she is my love but she ju dont no it yet!!lol i wish! canni wait til belfast in may 5th row :D

  • Wow, this is the most beautifull blond girl I ever have seen.

  • OMG..so sweet, divine, gracoius & great singer.

i love the way she gave d applause to d music player on her back, implying that she's so down to earth & humble.

  • gosh what a fabulous rich quality she has

  • She is so amazing!!

she did a duet with Rhydian Roberts on X Factor UK and both of them were amazing!!!

    love it!

  • She is simply devine!

  • she's supposed to be doing a duet with Rhydian on the xfactor final. Should be interesting.

  • check out viva la diva on tour now with Katherine and darcy in the uk is a fantastic show see you there,x

  • I love this song :D

  • How versatile and my god is she beautiful.

  • love listening to her sing one of the best!

  • i love this! i've never heard of this song before, but it really suits katherine's voice supremely well.

im so happy that she's just going from strength to strenght and seem to find songs that could showcase her talent the most.

  • I agree, this song suits Katherine's vocal color very well. She's getting a lot better at finding songs that do this for her...I can't wait to buy her new CD coming out in a little over a week.
