33 years later... here it is again!! hehe I did this in 1978, Disney did it a few years earlier. We used actual film, you are using a video projector... cool! Our first model was an actual life cast of a woman, with plaster of paris, with straws in her nose so she could breath, we then shot the footage of her talking... the match between the plaster bust and her real image was so perfect, the realism was simply astonishing!! These in your video, are approximations.
@rschneblin I do have some stills, somewhere, I came across them about a year ago while unpacking old boxes... I wish You Tube had a still picture section on each of our channels, for show and tell. I tried it with 8mm also but two problems, one the resolution was terrible and two, the old 8mm film transports were way too shaky. I got my Bolex in '77, still have it.
@doceigen - Try attaching a still image to a sound file in Quicktime. That works. :) I miss my old Bolex, but sold it for a good price on eBay. Hardly any place will develop 16mm these days, and I can't do my special effects warping in film anyway. I'm a big fan of 16mm. Here is the best I did in 16mm for my college class...
this is amazing! everyones in harmony and on key! and i was just on a dapper dans video talking about how they werent harmonized. this video brings back warm memories from childhood and watching barbershopers and sweet adelines in competions. thank you! this made my day! :D
@ChiiSan09 - Thanks so much for the very kind kudos! I can't take credit for the harmony, though. It is taken from a recording and my actors are just pantomiming to it. Give us credit for at least memorizing the verses and singing to each of our parts. The hard part? This is one of four tunes we sang! Oy...
@rschneblin well needless to say this is stunning work! and the timing is near perfect. so its still amazing. really makes me miss the old rating system on here. this is 5 star work!
@girlofGod1shirley - Hi Shirley, nice to talk to someone who loves God. To answer your question, LOTS of hard work. This is not the only song, there were 4 full quartet songs coming to around 10 minutes. OY!
@fullmoon4399 - Wasn't easy. Had to find actors to learn each of the four parts of the harmony, then pantomime the 4 tunes while keeping their heads absolutely still in a specially made "head jig". Then it all had to be synchronized and then distorted to wrap around the various heads.
@bordonthestreet I had the privilege of displaying these guys at the Marvelous Mechanized Magic Kingdom (look up the video on YouTube using the name). I was honored that X Atencio was impressed by this quartet.
Damn, that's just about the coolest thing I've ever seen!

@doceigen - would have been nice to see a recording of it. About 1973, I tried it using a Super8 film. It did not work very well.

@Caramoon100 - It's very expensive for all 4 heads, DVD, player, etc. But you can send me a message and I will answer you.

What kind of projector are you using? It looks so clear!
karateporkchop 4 months ago
@karateporkchop - Thank you. I believe this one just used a Dell portable. The clarity comes from editing in HD.

@misterlaff - Yes, I do believe you are correct. Good ear. However, this is one of four songs they sing, and I believe it is from different quartets.
